With a very small blade like those a high C tension is too much for them. I use jeweler's blades a lot and I have found that on my dewalt which has a 1 - 5 tension scale that if I put the tension much past 3 the blade breaks quickly. You might wish to try lowering your tension to about 1/3 of what you normally have it set to. The other thing is speed. The faster the speed the more the blade will wobble at the lower tension so you will need to slow your saw speed down a bit. Those thin blade can only handle so many flexes back and forth before they break. Hope this helps a bit.

What ever you decide to do one wood NOT to use is walnut. It will kill off the birds as the sap and oils are toxic to them. I had a Mennonite friend that does woodworking and was collecting the shavings. He did a large walnut order and collected the shavings to spread around for his chickens to forage through and it killed off all of them in a real short time. No paint on the inside of the birdhouse is the way to go.

Very nicely done Danny. Those little bird houses are fun to make. If you take one of the round headed birds and put a comb on the top of its head and cut to from cedar or paint it red it would be a Cardinal or paint it blue and it could be a blue jay. It's fun to see what variations one can come up with. As for price.... if they all sold fast for $3 then bump them to $4.50 or do something like individually $4.50. 2 for $8. Everyone likes getting a deal. Great job on those bird houses btw. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Very nicely done Gordie. How about red for the main background and gold for under the rings. Thanks for sharing this with us. I am sure they are going to love that.
