  1. looks great Deb. I can't let my wife see this, she would want one made.
  2. Your tractor looks great. I'm with you on the painting part. I love the natural look of the wood and hate painting it. I like to see the grains and figures in it.
  3. Well here is the completed project. I finished it with 2 coats of satin polyurathane. The woods used are - walnut, wenge, and spalted cottonwood.
  4. looks great. thanks for sharing

  10. Glad to hear you're okay too. It's been above 100 here to with the heat index. I work outside and we keep plenty of water handy. It's no fun having heat related "injuries". drink plenty of fluid, avoid to many drinks with high sugar and to much caffeine(according to our saftey person). And take frequent breaks.
  11. Brian, Is there a specific exotic you are looking for? I may be able to help you out .
  12. welcome to the village. if you need help or have questions just ask someone will be happy to help.
  13. great job. the green really makes it.
  14. Some of the exotic woods can get pricey.I am fortunate to have a local shop that does custom trim/cabinet work and they stock several exotics as well as domestics. They sell as much or as little as I need. As long as they can still use or resell the board. Woodcraft sells smaller pieces, but sometimes cost more than buying longer lenghts. They will cut off pieces (atleast the local one will) as long as it leaves a good sized pieces( 4 foot +) to sell. Check your area for local cabinet shops, woodworking shops you might be able to get their scraps cheap or even free. I don't buy scraps, but when my scrap bin gets to full I usually box it up and give it to someone. I just ask them to pay shipping.
  15. Hi Bob. welcome to the village.
  16. Thats Judy Gale Roberts site. She designs some great patterns. I have several of hers. you won't be dissapointed.
  17. Brian, I've done an intarsia of a trout. It was added to one of my eagle intarsias. Here's a link to the picture of my completed project. fresh catch I am working on it by itself. I made a little smaller than original for use with the eagle. I got the pattern here, http://www.intarsiadesigns.com/intarsia ... imals.html. Scroll down on the left and look for the leaping trout. You can download patterns from here instantly once paid. Hope this helps a little.
  18. I would use a circle cutter, or cut them freehand then sand them as Kepy said. To me using the tablesaw in that way could be dangerous. The table saw is a very mean and nasty machine if not treated right. But thats just my 2 cents
