It is a matter of preference. You should experiment and find what is the most comfy for you. I have mine at an angle and it works great for me. I have a thread here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4492 that shows how mine is set up.

You are very welcome Altman. I use the Flying Dutchman blades and use nothng else unless I am in a real bund. I am glad that you have overcome a challange and that you have already found the village to be of help. Look forward to seeing your work.

Welcome to the village we are so glad that you found us. I do not tell folks which saw to buy because it comes down to a choice that you have to make. I will suggest that you get as much saw with as many features that you want / think you might want that you can afford. Typically the better the saw you buy the more enjoyable it will be for you as you learn. Now this does not hold true for everyone but rather a rule of thumb.
