  1. I had mine stacked on a block of cedar and some other misc. wood. I added and removed wood until I found the angle that worked best for me. Even though my saw never moved with the wood stacked under it, I kept having visions of it falling off the table and it was actually not easy to move when I needed to move it. When I can get back out to the shop I will see about fliping the saw to take pictures of the bottom. I have the saw bolted to stand so it remains together.
  2. I had posted the other day about needing to sit down while scrolling and that I had bout a stool. It was suggested that tilting the saw would make it more comfortable to scroll. Well I did it, and at first I had the back of the saw proped up on a stack of wood. Well yesterday I actually made a portable stand for my saw that has it tilted to around 23 degrees or so which is perfect for me. I also improved the dust collecting ability when a shop vac or my dust collector is hooked up to it by about 100%. I completly enclosed the bottom of the saw and made the Dust chamber smaller. Before air came from everywhere from around the saw and dust was able to go basicly everywhere. By enclosing the saw the way I did air can basicly only come from the table region. If you any questions please feel free to ask and comments are always welcome.
  3. Ok I have uploaded a bunch of pictures of my shop, clutter, dust, disarray and all. Have fun looking and if you have any questions please ask. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery ... ?album=506
  4. I am thinking that she might even give you a kiss for that
  5. Nice work. One of these days I will try some puzzles.
  6. I cut this today for a friends mother. I was only suppose to cut it about 2 years ago so I guess it will be a nice suprise for them. I had alot of issues cutting this one. There were alot of voids in the red oak plywood that I used. It really @*%%#$ me off. So every time a peice broke off because of a void I would have to stop the saw look at what I had left and figure out what I could do to save the cutting. Well I think it came out reall good all considering.
  7. Chuck, Welcome to the Village. We are so glad that you found us here. I know I can't wait to see your work and hear (or should I say read) your input to questions. Again welcome.
  8. Well blue we are glad you found the Village. By all means ask all the questions you need to ask. I am sure someone will be able to answer it, and in the off chance someone can't someone will be able to point you in the right direction. Again welcome to the village.
  9. If only you could see it right now. Those pictures were taken not long after I completed building side work bench with the router table built in. It no looks like a tornado hit it and instead of raining water it was raining saw dust.
  10. Ok here you all go. My shop actual size is 12 x 24 but I do not use that whole area for actual work space although I am thinking about redoing the layout of things. But here is a general picture of the shop for you. You will notice that there is space behind the blue wall. This is where I have a desk and a couple of chairs and my dust collector. This is where I go when I want to sit down and relax a little bit while I am in the shop. It is a little less dusty in there and I also have some storage for some general items that I do not use often. I also, as you may have noticed, built all my work benches at the same height which is the height of my table saw which makes it a little bit easier when I am cutting down large sheet goods. This is my router station that I built into my side work bench with storage for the router bits under it. There are a few more pictures of the shop and some storage ideas that I am using in my gallery http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery ... ?album=506 that you may find useful. Comments are welcome. I need to take a couple more pictures of some new additions I have in the shop now like my lathe station which I have yet to learn to use properly.
  11. Welcome to the Village. Can't wait to see some of your work.
  12. So I was wondwring where you all got your picture hangers (saw tooth) and turn buttons from? I want to be able to get these things cheaply. Buying them at $1.00 - 1.25 for five saw tooth hangers was fine when I was only doing a cutting here and there, but now that I am starting to do more cutting I need to find supplies cheaper.
  13. HHHmmmm that is a good idea that I didn't even think about. Approaching the Christian Book stores around here. Could you e-mail [email protected] about the agreement that you have the book store. I would be very interested in learning more about that. By the way GREAT Job on those. I speacially like the cross made from tree limbs.
  14. Thanks for the kind comments all. Ron, the race car probably would not sell all that well for you as it is a small track, small no name driver who opperates out of his garage and loses money every year. It is my cuz's husbands car.
  15. I finished these two today. The race car will be going to a family member and the horse will be going to the young lady pictured with the horse. I also managed to get the saw angled to I am fairly comfy when I am scrolling while seated. Now I have to get use to clamping the blade in place from this position, the Craftsman saw I have makes it a little difficult while seated, but I think I am getting that down now as well. All in all I say it was a good day.
  16. Thanks everyone.
  17. Doug this is what I use for dust collection http://www.harborfreight.com/2-hp-indus ... 97869.html For the price it is hard to go wrong, and it is a H@@L of a lot quiter than a shop vac. But then I turn out more (when I have the money for wood) more than just scroll work. You can also build a Noise box for the shop vac, I have read that it does quite them down, but I have to question the air flow aspect of it, but it is something you can look into.
  18. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Glenn, Yes I am a spiral blade user. I used a 2/0 for the newest cutting. It was the first time I had used them, and I may have found the blade I had been missing from my arsenal. Doug I have my saw hooked to my dust collector (now that I fixed it yesterday that is). So I don't have to much of a dust issue.
  19. I finished another cutting today as well as some picture frames. I used the same picture frames for all the photo's because the others are still drying. Comments are welcome. This one is my Morning Dew pattern that I cut today. This is the one that had the most votes for the better of the two patterns. This is my friends wedding picture that I posted yesterday but I figured I would show what it looks like in it's frame. And this is my Morning Dew 2 pattern that I posted yesterday in a frame, again I figured I would show what it looks like framed. I also finally broke down today and picked up a chair that I can sit on while I cut. Up to today I had been standing because my saw is on my work bench. Well needless to say with all the cutting I have been doing lately my back is feeling it and I figured I had better start sitting so I can keep my back straight. now I have to figure out how to get comfortable cutting while sitting. Just another challenge I guess. As always comments are welcome.
  20. I have three projects sitting next to the saw right now waiting for my attention.
  21. I just finished cutting these two. I still have to sand, aply finish and make frames, but I thought I would share with you now. This first one is of a friends wedding picture This is my Morning Dew 2 pattern I have a few more ready to hit the saw I will be posting as soon as they are down.
  22. I have done a search for this scroll saw and came up with nothing. Who makes this scroll saw?
  23. There are colored stains out there. For example I used a blue stain for a student desk for my son, I picked it up at Lowes. They also had some other colors as well but I do not recall what colors now, that was a number of years ago. Heck I don't even know if they are still making them.
  24. John, we will need to know which patterns you attempted to download so we can look into the issue and try to help you out.
  25. Finished 2 projects today one is a thank you for a church from a church and the other (my christ in christ) is going to my Cuz in MO.
