    Hello!

Matt, I am so glad you found us here at the Village. I think you will enjoy it around here.
  3. Well Sheila, here is your official like greeting . Welcome to the Village, so glade you found us.
  4. Welcome to the Village Iballus, We are very glad you found us. I think that you have come to the place to learn scrolling, we have some very talented scrollers and we are all very willing to help out. Who ever recommended this site knew what they were talking about. So jump on in and ask all the questions you need. By the way, a number of our "Villagers" are from across the pound like you and they have a special time for chat if you care to join them. Hopefully one of them will let you know the chat time so you can join in if you want to. Again welcome to the Village.
  5. You mean I have to pick one? This is hard, not only do I scroll but I build furniture as well...hhhhmmmmm. I guess I will actually have to go with one of the smallest tools in my shop and that would be my dremel. It seems like almost every project I do I am reaching for that little tool to do something.
  6. Well howdy Wayne, So glad you found us here at the Village. I would have to agree with you that you have found one of the best best scrolling sites on the net. So tell me where abouts in Florida are you? I am guessing by your screen name that you are some place in the panhadle area, So am I!!! I am hoping that you are close to me.
  7. Sorry, wasn't trying to start a war on anything. I typically use baltic birch for my cuttings, and you are right, the blade can get away from you in the loose grained woods such as red oak, but this can be controlled by your feed rate. When I cut red oak I turn the saw speed all the way up and slow my feed rate way down (Not that, is the right technique, just the way I do it)
  8. Don't let Clayton, Marshall, and Steve scare you away from the spiral blades. Spiral blades are a breeze to use, they are just about the only blade I use for my work, they just require being steady with you hands. The thing you need to remember is that they cut in all directions. So if you apply a liitle pressure in a direction you do not want to go, well the blade is going to cut the direction you are pushing ( I guess that would actually be the oppisite direction your are pushing) If you need any help make sure you ask.
  9. Well like I said in the Pattern Anouncements, I was going to cut this soon most. Well here it is, Sleeping Duo (My Daughter and Grandson) Finished with Deft Gloss Spray finish (1 coat) on 1/4" Baltic Birch. This was probably the quickest project I have turned out. Patterned, cut, finished, and framed in just a couple of hours.

  13. I have got some articles and what not on my web site you are more than welcome to check out. Remember there has got more information than you could read in a life time on the web. Just do a search and start reading. You could even write some stuff in the SSV's Wiki http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/wiki/in ... =Main_Page Your time will probably not feel so wasteful that way, and others could benifit from it. Just an Idea.

  17. If you want a true dust collector harbour freight sells one that you can get at under 200.00 when on sale and it works fantastic for the price. The one thing I would suggest is that you get at least a new bags with better micron filtering. But for the price you can't touch it. I have one in my shop that I use for all my tools and it does a great job.
  18. I forgot to mention that we have a number of other members from across the pond. I hope that they chime in here and say howdy to you as well.

That looks great, and I can see that being a fantastic looking clock with some minor changes.
  25. I also use felt (like Travis) but I use a spray on glue. I cut the felt to size, spray the back of my cutting and apply the felt. It works well and maintains a nice smooth back (no lumps from glue build up)
