  1. Bob, you did real well, the Vets are sure to appreciate getting them. Len
  2. Too cute Ralph, it sure brings back memories of toys from long ago. Len
  3. John, in this case the torching made the cutting look better, but, it doesn't always work that way. Sometimes, people don't know where to stop with their torching. Other times, they torch things that should never be torched. It's a balancing act, does the piece need enhancement or not? Len
  4. Todd, it looks fantastic, I would love to see them play-off against each other for the cup. Len
  5. You've done good Monti, it looks great. Len
  6. Quick and easy, and cute as all get out. Good sellers to boot, what more could you ask for? Len
  7. Cute ornaments Jerry, they should look a lot different once finished. I look forward to seeing the then, the glitter should look nice on them. Len
  8. It looks good to me Dave. Len
  9. My saw has a few scratches on it as well, but like most others here it doesn't affect my sawing. I give my saw a real good servicing twice a year, that servicing includes waxing the cutting surface with a real good paste wax. That seems to have helped, I don't get nearly as many scratches as I used to. I don't know what's going on with your saw, the scratches seem to be long ones. It almost looks as if you've drug a nail or staple over it in places, I never get long scratches like that. Len
  10. I like the cutting, as for the color. I don't think you used enough color to make it look right, if the color was darker I think it would look much better. Another thing that would help with coloring the piece, would be to use a green colored backer. Not a real dark green similar to black, but, a green that shows green through the cuts. Len
  11. I buy my blades online, there's no place to buy them locally. Len
  12. Dave, I have four or five Dremel tools, and I use them on a lot of different projects. But, I have never used them on my fretwork, I'm afraid of what might happen. I use a mouse sander to remove any fuzzies, and I've never had a problem develop from doing so. I use the mouse sander on all of my fretwork, it does an amazing job. Len
  13. Les, it is very unfortunate, but, that is the way company's want their customer service to work. They don't want to bother the techs, with problems that the receptionist or first person you talk to can solve. They only have a set number of techs, and the techs have complained for years about all of the junk calls they've been getting. Some companies now have it set up, so that it cost you money to talk to the tech. This has been explained to me by a company I deal with, I will be dumping them as soon as I can find someone to replace them. They are set up so that it cost you around six dollars to just call them, it's an automated system. They charge you the money, then ask which department you want to talk to. I was very upset with this service, and I sent them an e-mail stating so, and demanded that they contact me by phone or I was dropping them right away. They did call me, and that is when they explained how their CS operated. Len
  14. Neat idea Dan, it looks great. Len
  15. Peter, they are not silent to operate, but, they are a quiet saw to use. I have mine set up in the basement of our house, my wife sleep right above where I use the saw. There's no insulation in the floor between levels, and my wife hasn't complained once about my saw being to loud. Don't worry, she would be up in arms if I interrupted her sleep. So, I think you will be safe using the saw in your apartment. Len
  16. Personally, I don't like using it, but, you could try using felt or black bristle board as a backer. Both are a thinner than 1/8" BB, which might give you the space you need. Len
  17. Dick, both pieces look amazing. Of the two,I like the one with the darker frame best. You did a nice job on the framework also, nice tight angles. Len
  18. Dave, this is a remarkable cutting, you did an outstanding job on both the pattern and the cutting. All of the detail you left in it is unreal, especially, in the neckties. Len
  19. Scott, congrats on all the sales you had. You have a great set-up to sell from, and your selection of items give people lots of choices. Len
  20. Don, I think Russell has given you the best fix info, I wouldn't try the dust and glue fix for this type of cutting. Len
  21. Danny, try using gel-type CA glue, it will work as well as anything else would. The nice thing about using the gel-type, is that you can place as little or much as you want on exact spots. I use a lot of this type of CA glue, I like that you can be very precise where you place the glue. Len
  22. Joe, the last time I was looking for these type of patterns, I found them by doing a google search. I don't have the site that I found marked, but, you should be able to find a few patterns by doing the search. Good luck. Len
  23. Larry, if e-mails I want to accept are being sent to the spam folder, I just mark them not as spam. After doing that, the e-mails go to my inbox like regular e-mails should. Len
  24. Rocky, you could get away with using a permanent black marker. Len
  25. Randy, I've never read one complaint about you posting your coins. Personally, I don't think there's anybody here that is that stupid, we all like to see what others cut. And seeing as how your work is so unique, I think we'd all like to see more of it. These coins have special meaning to them, and that makes them even more interesting. Congrats on your son getting through the coarse, and I don't for a minute imagine that his mother is the only one proud of his accomplishments. Thanks for the story behind these coins, it makes for an interesting posting. Len
