Rick, both pieces look amazing, and I think the one with the backer was the first one made. I like the one without the backer best, but, only because I think the backer is the wrong color. If the backer was a bit darker, I would choose that one. Len
  7. Beautiful piece Rick, it looks so serene. Len
  8. Nicely done Rick, I love that pattern. Len
  9. Exceptional work Terry, it would take me forever to complete something like this. Len
  10. Nicely done Helmut, the lights really make a difference. Len
  11. Nicely done Marg, that is some very tidy letter cutting. Len
  12. So your a cat person, these four cuttings are most impressive. Len
  13. Nicely done Dan, I like that they could be personalized in the bottom section. Len
  14. Melanie, you do some nice work. Len
  15. FD here. Len
  16. This poll will be skewed results, most people don't have the top feed option with their saws. The question if they have a choice to top feed should be asked, if they don't have the option, then of course they will be bottom feeders. What about the Dewalt scroll saw, can you top feed with them? If you can, how easy is it to do so? I switched from being a bottom feeder, to being a top feeder as soon as I had the option. It didn't take any getting used to, it just seemed like the normal thing to do. Len
  17. Joe, are you looking for 9-11 patterns, or, are you looking for 9-1-1 patterns? Len
  18. I like to use the hot glue method, I stack about 4 pieces of 1/8" BB and clamp them together. After clamping them with spring clamps, I hot glue around the exterior of the stack. I'm usually cutting ornaments when I stack cut, so when I'm done cutting the stack I just throw the waste away. I don't have to remove any of the glue, because it was on the exterior and not near the edge of the ornament. Len
  19. Jerry, it was Canadian funds, but, it was when the dollar was near par. It may seem to be a lot of money for such a small item, but, the area I live in will support those prices. Around here it's a mill town, the employees make big money and they don't mind sharing it. Len
  20. Nicely done Jim, there was lots of cutting in this one. Len
  21. Nicely done Jerry, I used to sell this type of cutting. The ones I made had peoples names on them, they were great sellers. I charged so much for the wood, and $5.00 per letter. Your Love you one would sell for $40.00, which isn't so bad for such a small piece of wood. Len
  22. Peter, this piece looks great, did you show the commission the finished cutting? Len
  23. Nicely done Monti, I think I might try cutting a nativity scene the same way. Len
  24. I've used food coloring and clothes dye for coloring a few items. The food dye was he easiest to use, but, the clothes dye was the best for deep coloring. Len
  25. Ralph, I don't know what it would look like if you painted it, but, if you could find a semi-transparent colored fill material it would look fantastic. Len
