1. Happy Birthday Keep the good times rollen
2. No problem! I placed a complaint, copyright infringement!
3. Unfortunately it's a sign of the times. Instead of actually putting some effort into creating their own they steal others works. Along with Ebay I would send an email to Paypal. Since they are out of the U.S. it will be hard to get any legal remedies. I'm wondering if the UK has the equivalent of the better business bureau? You can try contacting the attorney general in your state and ask him/her what remedies, if any that you have. If nothing else this might generate some aggravation for this SH*T HEAD! I wouldn't stop doing what you enjoy. There are a lot of people here who enjoy and appreciate your efforts. I for one am grateful for your time and efforts. I wouldn't have been able to create the pieces I've done without your professional tutorials on GIMP and Inkscape. I hope you will continue to to do the fine work you have been doing on this site. Thanks!
4. Hi All: Normally after the holidays we trash the xmas cards we get. I was looking thru the ones we received and found a few that would make great mini puzzles. We have some nice ones with wildlife scenes that don't have any text on the outside. I was thinking of trying some puzzles and these will do just fine to try my hand at it. Happy New Year To All!!!
5. Hi All: Finished this one today. Cut from 1/4" baltic birch ply. I thought I'd start early for next years craft shows. I'm going for a mix just to have a variety of subjects. My native american woodburns sold so scroll portraits might do as well. Merry Christmas To All!
6. Wonderful piece. The script came out fantastic.
7. Great work. Pine is underestimated. I've used it for burns with great results.
8. That's a classic. Wonderful job. A great keepsake for years to come.
9. That's a great one. I love dogs and wildlife. They will be very happy to get this one.
10. Good job. Once you get the feel for the basics (GIMP), go ahead and experiment. Just keep adding layers as you go and save your work.
11. Great cut. Using the contrasting colors makes it standout.
12. My gifts are done. Started a piece for next years craft fair and my saw got sick. Blower and light went. Sent it off for repairs. Oh well. I'll work on some patterns.
13. Thanks everyone for the great comments. Since this was a design on the go I wasn't quite sure of the outcome. As far as the pattern...If I have some time I might clean it up and add some measurements. It's held together with brass wood screws. I didn't measure anything just eyeballed it and drilled
14. Beautiful work. I like the contrast with the dark background and the frame. This is different from your traditional stand up clock.
15. Great work. The details and finish are perfect.
16. Wonderful piece. Provides fun and a learning experience at the same time.
17. That's Kool. I had to go back and read your description. I thought It was blown up and then cut. Great cutting on such a small piece.
18. Check these out... http://www.thewoodshop.20m.com/clockfaces.htm
19. Fantastic work. Clean cuts and great detail.
20. Hi All: Well it's done. This was a "on the fly" design I thought I would try. The original plan was the ships wheel and the anchor. I happened to watch the "Pirates of the Carribean" one night and thought a ships deck and railings would be an interesting addition. You might wonder if I was on the "sauce" when I mounted the anchor to the deck. Nope...Just thought it would be different. All the parts except the legs where created using inkscape. I cheated and used some mini wooden candle holders from Micheals Craft Store. The pieces were cut from 5/8" Madrone. I applied two coats of Watco dark walnut Danish oil. The oil gave it a nice finish with the appearance of weathered wood. I wasn't quite sure on the top coat. After looking the piece over a few times, I went with three coats of Johnson's paste wax. I think I should have went with a larger clock though.
21. I wanted to take a minute to thank all the SSV members who have contributed all the great patterns in the pattern library as well as providing patterns for those "special requests" in the pattern request section. It's great to have members that will take the extra time to provide these great patterns. With the membership growing daily, we can look forward to more great submissions in the coming years. Thanks Again
22. Those came out great. The wood is nice and the price is right.
23. Hi All: After some research I'm going to try some Watco Danish oil and Minwax Wipe on Poly. I have plenty of scrap wood to test different combinations on. Thanks!
24. Hi All: Anyone use blade lube on their scroll blades? Does it help when cutting? Does it leave any stains on the wood? I thought I would try it out. Thanks
25. It was fun and great source of information. Once I saw the demo by Travis I remembered those techniques I was having problems with. Thanks Again!
