  1. Those came out great Frank. I like the suggestions from some of the others. Barry
  2. Great job you guys. I've never attempted an intarsia piece but seeing that makes me want to try Barry
  3. Awsome first cutting! You nailed the pattern and the cutting as well. Great job! Barry
  4. Thanks everyone. I'm amazed at all the great comments. I always wonder if the stuff I cut is something that someone would pay for. Getting comments like these from fellow scrollers who know the process and are all skilled at this really means alot and makes me believe I can make a few bucks on what I create. I appreciate every one of your comments. Thank you. Barry
  5. Nice pattern and cutting. Great job. Barry
  6. I downloaded that same pattern DW. You did a beautiful job on it. Barry
  7. Great job on this. I'm sure he's going to love it. Barry
  8. These are very cool and you did a nice job on them. Is this your pattern? Barry
  9. Looking back on it now I can laugh about how comical it must have looked while I was cutting. As you know, the table is nowhere near large enough. I was actually taping pieces of 1/8" Baltic Birch ply to each face as I finished them. There is no way this could have been cut using anything but a spiral blade. Thanks so much for the praise Kevin. I'm a bit of a masochist when it comes to the things I cut. I guess I'm one of those people that likes an insane challenge.
  10. It's extremely fragile. If you hold it by the left side, the right side sags a good 5 or so inches. I just wish I could get the BBC to allow me to sell the cuttings. I could probably make a small fortune! It only takes about 10 hours to cut.
  11. Cut this a while ago as a Christmas gift for my brother. We are both huge Dr. Who fans. Took me about two weeks to cut and measures about 16"x24". Unfortunately I am not able to post the pattern for this at this time as I am still waiting for permission from the BBC to do so.
  12. Lookin good DW Barry
  13. Nice job on those Chris. I would not have been able to knock those out in time. Barry
  14. That's a great looking tree DW. Merry Christmas Barry
  15. Beautiful work Clayton. Thanks for sharing it with us. Barry
  16. That came out great Art. I missed this one on Steve's site. My wife would love one of these. Thanks for sharing. Barry
  17. Congrats on the new saw Kevin. See, good things really do come to those who wait. I hope you still find time to hop on here now that you got the yellow toy Enjoy the saw, have a Merry Christmas, and I can't wait to see what comes off of it. Barry
  18. I had a similar problem when I first started too. I found I wasn't using enough of the spray adhesive. My guess is that you are having a lifting problem in very thin areas where there is not a great deal of wood between cuts, this is common. What I do is spray the pattern very liberally with adhesive. Wait a couple of seconds and then attach your pattern. Press the pattern down firmly. If there will be a bunch of very detailed areas, I will sometimes use a veneer roller to make sure I've pressed it down evenly and firmly. If the pattern starts to lift around the blade, stop the saw and take a piece of clear cellophane tape and tape it down. I find this to be the easiest and quickest fix. To remove the pattern I will either use a hair drier set to high. Just start on one end of the cutting and as the drier heats the adhesive, the pattern will pull right off. The other method is to spray the cutting with mineral spirits until the pattern turns kind of see through. In many cases, the pattern will come off in one piece. If there is any adhesive residue, wiping with a little mineral spirits and then a careful sanding after the cutting has dried will remove the rest. I know this was long, but you said be specific..lol Hope it helps. Barry
  19. Great job DW, I bet he loved it. Barry
  20. Keep looking Kevin, and saving. It took me four years to get around to getting the 788 and it was worth every minute of the wait. Hopefully the scrolling gods will smile on you in 2011 and deliver a nice shiny yellow saw to your door. Barry
  21. Does designer firewood count as a scrap bin?
  22. The best part of the whole thing is that you had a great time Dan and that it sounds like you generated some future sales. Glad it was a success. Would love to see some pictures from your next show if you remember to bring the camera..lol Barry
  23. I love that DW. Great idea with the cellophane. Was it difficult to work with? Barry
  24. Terrific job on these. The red on the tree was a great choice. Barry
  25. I'm sure she's going to love that. You did a great job on it! Barry
