  1. Mike, I had a Craftsman that did the same thing. It ended up being the motor control board. Cost $60 for parts. It lasted another two years and did the same thing. I gave it to someone and bought a Delta P-20. Dan
  2. Can you fill it with JB Weld and retap the hole? I used JB Weld on an alternater bracket and it held for over 6 years. Dan
  3. Hey Kevin, if I had the money I'd have bought an Excalibur a few years ago. Everyone says they are well-built machines. I agree with Travis thought, give it a try before you plop down the dough.
  4. Great idea Mike. Thanks.
  5. Classic rock usually. Sometimes our local college station. Today it was Celtic and bluegrass.
  6. Great job!!
  7. Awesome job Mike!!! I really like the idea of the cats on the hinges. I'll have to try the polymer clay some time. You did a great job hiding the blade entry holes. I don't think I'd have ever seen them if you hadn't pointed them out. Dan
  8. Just a thought...there are some bamboo cutting board that are a little thicker, 1/2" I think.
  9. Some 2011 Christmas ornaments and some pens. May get back to some puzzles soon also. Dan
  10. For inlays, I have a few bags of sawdust I collect and make some filler to match the wood that the hole is in. This may not always be true, but I've found that if I drill the blade entry hole closer to the darker colored wood, I can usually hide the hole pretty well. As for fretwork, I do like grampa and make a teardrop shape. When I make bowls, I just sand, sand, and sand until the hole disappears. Dan
  11. Wonderful work Glenn. Beautiful from picture to pattern to finished product.
  12. Amazing work there John. Great contrast of the woods and details in the cuts. The chair is interesting too. Dan
  13. Great work Art! Thanks for sharing.
  14. Nice and clean. Very well done! How long have you been scrolling? Dan
  15. Great job on the portrait! You must have been a great student of Travis'.
  16. Glenn, Definitely give Inkscape a try. After a little practice, you'll be able to turn any font into a scrollable font.
  17. Picture's a bit blurry, but your scroll work is very good.
  18. Welcome aboard Hartwood! What kind of scroll saw did you get? I've used birch plywood for puzzle backers, some ornaments, and fretwork. I like the way it looks for fretwork, but not so much for the ornaments. If you have a Rockler or Woodcraft nearby, check them out for all the different types of wood. Dan

Brett, I like the idea of shoes. I think I'll try some running shoes and see how they look. As for the price, I guess I was thinking of kids buying these for their mom or dad and was thinking of what they may want to spend. I've had folks tell me I priced my pens to low, so maybe I should rethink the price of the key chains also. Thanks for the inputs.

Thank everyone. Marg, I thought the same thing with the surf boards, but not much surfing here in Kentucky. Kevin, my wife suggested $5 each, but I think I'll look around to see what some comparable ones go for. I think I'll at least ask $4. Got the rings from eBay and with shipping they were less than 10 cents each. Brett, my wife also suggested flowers or a heart. I like the shape being oblong, but I may try some different shapes and add a flower to it. Dan

Well, the next craft shows I will do are in April/May so I thought I should do something small for Mother's and Father's Day. I hope these will sell. They are made from 3/16" boards of walnut, maple, persimmons, oak, mahogany, and cherry. I stack 5 at a time and it takes about an hour and a half to make 10. That time includes sanding and finishing. They are finished with 50/50 BLO and mineral spirits. I'm working on some other patterns (like sports cars). Any idea what shapes I can use for mom's? Thanks for looking. Dan
  22. Nice job Marshall. Very clean.
  23. A friend looked up the reviews and it was low, something like 2 out of 5.
  24. Great job...very clean cuts. Sharp!
  25. Sounds like you did extremely well, Kevin. Congrats!
