Hi Mark. We've all seen this at one time or another. Some things to check: Is the blade installed correctly? Is the blade tensioned properly? Not all Baltic birch ply are equal. The ones from the big box stores are not great quality. Using reverse toothed blades help to reduce the chipping. If the chopping is on top of the board your blade could be upside down.

Thanks Bob. I do have a set of hole saws. I saw a video YouTube of a guy that makes them with a Forstner bit and hole saw. The wheels come out looking pretty good. I may try some like that so I can use different woods.

I have an Epson WF4500 series and find the menu no to intuitive. I have no problems with copying but can't figure out how to scan and send it to the computer.

After drilling a few holes with a Forstner bit I got tired of cleaning up the mess... shavings everywhere. The dust collector isn't accessible to the drill press so I had to put on my thinking cap. I cut a 2" piece of PVC about 1-1/2" long and just set it over the 1"hole I was going to drill. Almost all the shavings stayed right there, in the PVC. This may not be new to you but it was to me.

I got my patterns from Winfield last week. This is one of the first vehicles I made. The patterns are for 2" wheels but all I currently have are 3/4" wheels. So I reduced the pattern and cut this. It's ash and walnut. I have 2" wheels on the way. My grandson now has a small collection of wooden cars and trucks.

Larry, the ports are on the left side of the machine. I guess I forgot to say it's a Delta P-20.

My Delta has oil ports for the pivot points which I fill every few weeks. The only other place I can think of greasing are the swivel connections in the back. The manual does not say to grease them and the saw is pretty quiet so I may check them but will probably not grease them.

I have used saw toothed hangers and they work fine. Like Jerry said, you need to balance the wood to make sure it hangs properly. The last batch I made I used eye-screws on the top and hemp to hang it. Oh yeah, if you use the saw-toothed hangers also put the little rubber stick-on bumpers on the back. It will help keep it even against the wall and help hold it level.

Some of my thinner scraps I have cut in the shape of arrowheads then sanded to make them more realistic looking. Kids love them. You could even turn them into necklaces.
