  1. Trying to figure that out can be a PITA. Just put a blade in, if it works you have the right blade.
  2. It's a bit small, but I would still buy it for that price.
  3. Can't wait to see the final product Darcy. Two years without sawdust...you must have had withdrawals. Glad to see you back at it.
  4. I would add the spirals. I don't use them much, but when I need them it's good to feel comfortable using them. Also, I'd add drill bit sizes to the chart. I see the question on "what size drill bit should be used" a lot. Good post.
  5. Great job on the pattern. Now look for more pictures and create more patterns.
  6. Almost all my BB ply is behind glass, so I don't use a finish. On the one's that I do finish, after sanding up to 300 grit, I use spray lacquer. It dries reasonably fast so dust doesn't have time to build up. The downside is the odor. I only use lacquer in the garage or outdoors. If I have to stain a project, I use a wood conditioner first then stain before I cut. I've never tried to get stain into the frets. I think it gives the piece a little more depth if the inner plies are a little lighter than the top and backer.
  7. Well, I've been caught sawing logs in the shop but never fell asleep. Like Jim, I don't remember falling asleep behind the wheel but I do remember waking up. Very scary.
  8. I actually had a lady ask me to remove the portrait from the frame. She loved the work but wanted a different frame. She took it and had it framed somewhere else. Most of my portraits are sold with frames. I think it makes them look much more complete.

    Very well done Ron.
  10. That's a test of patience. Great job!
  11. Both are beautiful. Very detailed and clean.
  12. Excellent job! Not sure who the designer is but you did the pattern justice.
  13. Very unique. Looks like something that will hang in an office building.
  14. NIce niche. It's perfect for the figurine. I stack cut but rarely do repeats. I do have one that I will repeat as a special request for my brother. Of course, every year a customer orders 50 identical ornaments. She is so sweet I can't say no. But she gives me at least 2 months notice.
  15. I agree with Don and would also do the same with 1/4" poplar. You may want to stack 2 but you can stack 3 but that may be a little much for a #1 blade.
  16. EX-30. I'll PM you my address so you send it to the right place, Santa.
  17. Another outstanding display! Keep cutting and showing your work.
  18. Wonderful work! I agree on the backgrounds. I really love the farm life.
  19. My experience is "yes". I like them but they are a little more aggresive than FD UR blades.
  20. Outstanding!! I love all the detail in it. Congrats to your execution of Sully's pattern. As for the background, black is always a safe bet. If you used a different color I'd stick with a dark blue or purple.
  21. Super job Mike. I have that on my to-do list.

    Fantastic! Thanks for showing.
  24. Hi Maggie and welcome to the forum. I'm not familiar with the Excalibur clamps so I can't answer that question. But as far as I know, there are 3" and 5" blades. I suspect you have no 3" blades, so my guess is there may be an issue with the way you are installing them or with the machine itself. Someone will chime in soon enough and be of more help.
  25. Since the mahogany is thin you could try dowsing it with thin CA. It should absorb into the fibers and provide a little stability to the wood.
