    Finally finished this one. Well, almost. I have a little more cleaning up then I'll have to make a frame. I'm happy with it. I made the pattern from a video clip. I found a few bugs in the pattern I made so I hope to be able to share it next week if anyone is interested. About 305 cuts. I used a #1 spiral on all cuts except the 3 large areas. I think it took about 3 or 4 hours to cut. I burned most of the fuzzies off but see I missed a few. Comments/critiques welcome.

    I'm usually stationary when I scroll. But here's what I want to know, if you say you scroll clockwise, does that mean the wood is moving clockwise in relation to the blade or the blade is moving clockwise in relation to the wood?

    Thanks guys. Clayton, the burl is soft, but great for cutting. There were a lot of voids in it so I had to select a pattern that would drop out most voids. There are still some small voids in it, but that just gives it character, right? I got it off eBay. Had it sitting around for months.

    Just finished this up this morning. Here's one from Charles Dearing's book. This is cut from a slab of buckeye burl. It measures 13" x 20" x 3/8" thick. I used black matting for the background and added 1/4" ply for added support because the burl is so thin. Only took about 2-1/2 hours to drill and cut with a #1 spiral. Thanks for looking.

    I didn't think I hoarded wood until I moved. I gave away 4 boxes (the size that reams of paper come in) of various wood and moved about 10 times that much. Oh, and I committed the big sin...I burned a bunch of logs I was saving.

    I agree with Travis. I tried it and it's not worth the time and effort. For me, it's much faster to apply painters tape, apply the pattern and cut. I think most inkjet papers are designed to hold the ink. If you were to try it, use transfer paper, but with the added expense, I would rather spend the time than the money.

    My mom has an akita that is old but gets along pretty good. Mom keeps misplacing the dog leash so I thought if I hang this from the wall near the door, mom will have a place to keep the leash. It's made from 5/8" cherry with plywood backer. One coat of BLO and will put a couple coats of poly on it tomorrow if the BLO is cured by then.

    Outdoor Scrolling

    Once the weather warms a bit I usually open the garage door and do some scrolling. My saw is not on wheels and with the stand weight almost 120 pounds, so I don't move it too far. Hey Chuck, any idea what the SPF is for sawdust?

    Here's one I just finished. It's a Charles Dearing Pattern called On The Move. The blank is 3/4" x 8" x 15" Spalted Quilted Maple. I counted 81 cuts but may be off my one or two. It was a pleasure to cut and watch things come together. Thanks for looking.
