  1. Ken your so lucky - wish I could talk my wife into trying the scrollsaw , they look real nice ..........
  2. Mitch I'm in agreement with Travis , but I also use 1/4" walnut and use both polly and Lacquer switching from one or the other at different times .. ........MB

  4. Finished these yesterday , made out of my own milled up stock - Walnut 1/4" material soaked in lemon oil and with several coats of Satin lacquer - received these patterns last year from Steve Good too late to cut for the season .........I did it - got them cut for this season..........any comments are welcome ......MB

  6. Really a pretty piece ....DW
  7. David that would be the way my luck would go is to sell it even before it was sold , nice job - but I'm sure you can make another one just as pretty .......
  8. When I usually cut this thick and hard material I would use a no. 9 Olson blade - but I have mostly Flying Dutchman Blades - for this is the blade of choice for me these days . I don't cut much thick and hard woods lately , I have used a no. 5 but remember -- slow is better - well it works better for me ......MB
  9. In the past I have used the 1/8" BB plywood ...........for I usually stack cut two or three when I'm cutting .
  10. I have right at 25 name plates cut and these are two that have cured with all the polly on them , made from Australian Pine and ready for delivery to the Customers . The Richard Burns one was ordered this way on separate bases ......my first in displaying a name.....MB
  11. I have already made four of these out of 1/8" Baltic Birch Plywood and the wife said she needed 12 more , O well I"ll cut them this weekend with all the others Ornaments I'm wanting to cut . I think I'm going to let her finish them with her choice of the colors of Christmas paints ..that way I can spend more time cutting more of these.....I did stack cut four at a time of these......I want to thanks Steve Good for such a cool pattern also.....any comments are welcome my fellow scrollers .........MB
  12. I myself Martin , used the painted backer board . this way if I ever wanted to re-fresh it - all I would have to do is hit it with some more paint ...and you can tell by this that I didn't glue the pieces together ....MB
  13. Looks super David ..........
  14. Sharp sign DW .............
  15. I would try some cuttings before I made any ajustments to anything on the saw first . the main thing is to have a small 2" square to set on the table to show weather the blade is true and go from their .........my thoughts -- go and try to make some saw-dust and examine your finished product ........my Dewalt has pretty much been maintence free so far .........
  16. I'm in agreement with the green man Travis ..........
  17. You've been busy ........fine Duke cutting here .........
  18. Like the old car scrollings ..........
  19. Nice cutting here .......
  20. I can say that if you have a hobby sooner or later you'll have what you need , it'll just take time to get what you need or want . I can say for the last 25 years I've collected just what I've wanted and needed and it's come too the point that I need no more or have room for any more . Just remember that if it's your passion it will probably last - and this will be part of my retirement - my hobby . I think that we all need a hobby or something that helps with building our patience - it has me .......MB.... .
  21. Nice setup , like this ........
  22. No I didn't use anything but a slow cutting action , I usally don't use the tapes unless I do the fine detailed protraits stack cuts . I guess it's just all the cutting I've done , I always say slow is better - haven't had any burning problems as long as I use the right flying Dutchman blade and the right speed .........I think the more cutting that one does , is the best teacher in the long run ......thanks for the comment ......MB
  23. I made this out in the shop this week for my daughter-in-law's desk , made of Cherry - it was hard to cut since I'm use to cutting that soft pine all the time ......any comments welcome ............
  24. YEAH CARDINALS .............
