not enough tension,to much tension on the blade holders.Pushing to fast while cutting.Wrong blades for the type of wood being cut.Blades not completely in the holder or not enough of the blade in the holder which is one of the problems i have with the dremil 1830 as you can not see whats going on when you try to change blades on the bottom.I have to feel my way around blindly.Wore out blade holder .Lubricant on blade holder.Stripped screw on blade holder.What make and model scroll saw did you get? Good question and thats probably the first problem beginner scrollers are bound to run into.Keep them coming we'll get you through them all!We've been there done that and are very willing to share our knowledge with you.hang in there,more help is coming as soon as some other scroller reads your post. I know that you too love what you do and you do it too good!I toldold my friend that has a store to put this stuff you have in the back room out on the floor .Un shone is un sold.advertizement is the key.Wal-mart has a free classified ad that i use on the internet.Word will get around about your work as more and more people see it and tell somebody else what they've seen.I know the work you do when you can help with the pain your enduring.I think the web sit is "wal-mart classified.com". wow the clock idea is a great one .Everybody asks me how long it took to cut that one and i allways have to give the same answer .Too long.This will be a great reference to log up the times for craft shows.Why wal-mart has the foot switct next to the clothes irons is beyond me.there's no light on it to let you know it's off .And with a heating element you would want to know it is off before walking away.This forum is invaluable for the wealth of needed short cuts for the scroller.Allmost like a bible! I gotta go find a clock now!!!

Yes sir ,gmr really knows how to put a smile on the kids faces and mine to!His work is hard to beat.One of the best toy builders around.They are so cartoonish looking the kids can relate immediately to it with love.I really loved the pig he made but this one really takes the cake.Well down sir you deserve a pat on the back!

I wish i could help you.These and all other saw i've used have there quirks.My last two new saws had a horrendous squeek coming from them.The factory was no help as they had me talk to the secretary of all persons!I finally located the problem with a car heater hose used as a stethoscope.In a minute i localized the sound and lubricated the bearing or bushing where the motor connects to the bottom arm.There are blogs on scroll saw problems but i can't remember seeing that problem on the dewalt of yours.Good luck!

Greasemonkeyrednecks suggestion to get a foot switch for your scrollsaw made me laugh quite a while ago .I ran across a foot switch for 3.95 at wall mart .At that price i could not go wrong.It's 15 amp too.I glued it to a 3/8th" board and could not live with out one .It really makes scrolling that much better.One less operation to do when changeing blades alot as i do.My next to do item is to figure out how to keep the dust blower i one spot to as i allways have to adjust it when changeing blades.that makes 2 less things to do .i have an electronic friend that can't wait for the solder to heat up to solder so he can go on with the repairs and fix something.A solder iron that stays on is a quick fix for him.

hi glassweigen,a quick fast easy way to copy things and in plus or minus scale for me has been the "rapid resizer"I think i payed 60 and downloaded it.It's by far the greatest tool i have.You can adjust it to copy to your specs.In metric or american.My friend sent me a picture from thialand and the picture was tiny but i entered the size i wanted and it poped out perfect.If you want something longer but not taller no problem.Instead of doing projects 8" by 10" i can now do things 15" by 15" 20 by 20 30 by 30 what ever i like.You will love the ease of you'se.You can try it for free also for 30 days. put you photos in the scanner and go to rapid resizer and press scan ,it's all down hill from there!

i've had travis's cadillac in the works along time .I nibble away on it a little at a time as my saw is wore out allready in 2 months of scrolling.way to many thin cuts so i took my time and finally it's done.

I like the santa face, i never was good at doing them.I painted a lot of windows for the holidays with tempura finger paint.It washs off easy.Now i can turn these into scroll art .Thanks as the thought never occured to me being a scroller now.Had alot of trouble getting the pictures the right size and gave up,too many things to do today. grampa saved the day straightening out my mess i made . my hat is off to you sir thanks

Back atcha,The bellows is just behind the carrying handle on top ,inside.Part #8 They want $8.00 plus shipping for it. hope this helps.it should be about 2" by 2" clear,black or gray looking and you may not beable to see the air hose as it's situaded snug as a bug in there. It all just pulls out .

Hello scrollers, I have a "blue air " dust collector i don't use anymore .the shop out grew it's self by double.this is a model 503,on wheels and a floor model. It catchs 99% of what you don't see which is the worst dust to breath.Does a good job. i guess i have to post it for trade in a differant post .

Portraits from a pattern you allready have should be $25 to 35-if you have to make a pattern from a picture add $25 to that.If you frame it another $25 to 50 depending how wild the frame and wood is.Cars the same pricing.Keychain are my love ,i love doing tiny detail and quick ones at that. i charge $1.00 a letter w/clear coat.Misc trivial no brainer stuff $5,10, 15.Names plain i get $1.00 a letter plain wood,cheap wood, up to 6".Names painted plain and cleared fronts only $1.50 ea.Names with the beach scene on them 4.25"tall i get $5.00 a letter.Myself i give a name stand free as get the wood free and i have nothing but time and love what i do.I've inquired going to the craft shows here .and there are a lot. They have the nerve in my opinion to want to charge you $250.00.If i sold all my stuff that would pay for that and none for me.Trust in the lord clocks cost me $6.88 for the guts and i sell for $20. not much profit there but i,m making new happy customers and it's allways seen when company comes.I try for $20 on most things i do ,i'm not greedy but the saying go "starving artist". Howdy good question!For me i like to use craft paper thats stiff.Depending on the application i'll use epoxie glues if i'm in a hurry and the project is small.For the clock i posted today i used the craft paper and elmers.Every spot on the back of the clock has one continueous line of glue.It was like a nitendo game squeezeing it on and not falling off the pattern,lol.Felts i use spray tempory bond extra wet,on the project only ,let it dry and press on.I have several types of glues and personal preferance usually decides,they all work.Scrolling is a blast watching it all come together!Hope this help. that was good news to my ears,i learned more of what i did'nt know too thanks ,I have a question too thats been buging me. I buy lots of blades and see that if you buy by the gross the price is differant. I'm sure it's a savings but don't know what a gross consists of .help help .Please and thank you!

HOWDY florida gramps,you came to the right place to ask questions.I'll help a little but soon you'll be swarmed with valueable help from seasoned scrollsaw villagers!I think on the first page when you come to the village there is a selection of topics and the one you are going to start off with will be F A Q,frequent asked questions.Thats a good start.Basically i'm a beginer and have learned so much about scrolling and the use of computers here.You'll catch on quick.I'm always learning and the more i do the more i learn.A good start for any wood is to allways have at least 3 or 4 teeth in contact with the wood at all times 1/4 " wood would take a blade with 16 teeth per inch. Any blade will cut but thats a good tip.Skip tooth blades seem to cut alot quieter as i cut in an apartment building with close neighbors.One or more teeth facing up leaves a clean cut top and bottom on the wood,but it fuzzys up your paper cut line while cutting.They save alot of work sanding ,esspecially with delicate work.I've been buying blades from mikesworkshop.com .His delievery is so fast and the product is quality steel.his motto is the customer comes back not the product.I've ordered 100's of blades and no problems.breakage usually comes from not tight enough rather than too tight.looseining and retighting the blades alot on projects tends to fatige the blades.i've cut puzzles with 1 blade and 1/2" thick mgf material,85 piece puzzle 8" by 10".i cut oak and maple alot 3/8 " As far as pictures i'll let the next guy go to it to help you there.It was hard for me to learn that at first and am still learning.You can change the format of the picture being sent with your computer such as jpg.gif tiff?etc.jpg is something anybody can use and the others are specialty.At the bottom of this page is some help ,click on upload attachment and try your luck till you get help.looking forward to seeing your work! clickupload attachment,go down and click browse, find where you picture is ,click on it , open it,click add file,click place in line once,clickpreview,click sumit etc. That will send us your picture.!helps coming![
