i think i'll be making 4 1/4" walnut eagles next to put on flags and then my wood supplier will put me on making sheila landry's sleighs and reindeer's for the next craft show he does.

bahaha!,lol, My Dewalt is the same as yours,take your time and cut with a half speed of maybe 4 on the speed control and use a #5 or #7 blade.You'll have less accidents with a bird this big by not using a scroll reverse blade as it picks the wood up on the upstroke.That adds to vibration you don't wand with the bird almost completed! :) :) :) :) :)

Lol ! i scrolled with low end machines for years and finally got a dewalt.I was blown away at ball the benifits of having a creature comfort machine.I had no idea that scroll saws were different besides looks!

Boy that's a lot of cost and work to tape and remove it all,not easy.

Seems like when i have to move my shops since 2006 i need a big truck for all the wood i accumulate.Lastbtimeb i had some biggys and justb hadv to get rid of them,moving them around and storing them would be a waste of time.Two 20" x40" 500 hole plus projects i gave away just to save them from being ruined.Thanks IKE! :) :) :) :) :)

Ah you know that ! Yes money money money ,lol I exsist on so little that when some comes in im so pleased that i was able to make it with wood someones thrown away.My friend has me do projects for him in hardwoods which is a treat for me a i get the scrap for intarsias .Theres so much work i need to do in the outside tent shop so i can make it easyer for me to do work of all kinds.Funny how jobs come in and i have to dig for tools i haven't used in quite a while.I spend more time trying to find things i haven't used in years but i gotta do it .

Thanks Bobby, I love doing big projects but the positions i have to get into are not easy sitting in a chair.

Hi Paul,i need to make an extension for the saw again,your right ! he best i can do is hold my hand don flat on as much of the wings as i can to keep any vibration to a minimum.I've been wanting to design a work table where i'm in the center on wheels(chair) with the scroll saw ,band saw , drill press and belt sanders all flush with the table .I'd just have to rotate myself to each machine as needed when needed.I guess it's just a pipe dream i've been thinking about a long time.lol :) :) :) :) :)

I'm really something ,I have so much free wood an all, that it's a big problem to get to the saw.If it wasn't for that i'd scroll a little more than i do,lol.I find cabinets ,shelves,etc and to but things in a usable place usually requires major moving around of things .So i just deal with my clutter and watch it grow,lol :sad: :sad: :sad: :sad: :sad:

A lot of times as I'm sawing away I'll notice an area that I'm coming up on that looks very weak.I'll cut a little wider to strengthen it up some.Works out good for me.Been learning the hard way for years now and still need to know more!

Looks like your all primed up for cutting a wood gear clock with all those teeth you did nicely!Keep your project coming ,they inspire me to get out of the house.

Mine has had several issues and was able to tighten something back up or put a nut back on .So far i didn't have to spend any money for my repairs .i did lose a screw or two and bought them.I re greased all the bearings with valvoline synthetic car grease and that is the best fix i ever did to the dewalt.Take the blade out ,hold the top arm down and try to lift the lower arm blade holding mechanism .Then do the same thing to the top blade holding mechanism.This will help greatly to find where the problem is.Last time it was just the 4 screws that hold the lower mechanism to the yellow panels on both sides of the machine.That was the quickest repair i ever did to it.Hopefully this could be your problem.It's a bummer not being able to scroll.I have 4 back up saws.lol 2 are new dewalts!Let us know what you find .Someone will know what your problem is and will get you going again.If you were closer i'd show you all i know about them.The videos are a great way to familiarize your self with the insides of this great saw!Rick's Scrollsaw- http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/ DeWalt DW788 Scroll Saw Review - YouTube

We have those cresant shaped lizzies here too.They are bug getting machines.I've never caught them dancing but maybe someday,Would that be on a full belly.Your scrolling is deemed top of the line! Thanks for showing and KEEP thm coming! :) :) :) :) :)

Thanks Dan,I try hard to do one with out incident but it happens sometimes.Ythe b24" aromatic cedarbone exploded a couple of times from weak sections inherit ant to the type of wood it is. :) :) :) :) :)

Thank you Curtis,She's a biggy,lol.I would have been better off cutting with anything but a scroll reverse blade.They lift the wood off the saw on the up stroke and cause problems if i forget to hold it down.Know wonder my arms ache from scrolling .I use scroll reverse for years and years because you really don't have to sand the backs of projects the way they cut both ways. :) :) :) :) :)
