  1. Brenda, Try repositionable spray glue, no need for thinners to remove the pattern. I'm currently using one from Crafters Companion (the purple can) and I've found it to be very good. I apply the glue to the back of the pattern, sand the wood to 240, clean off the dust then stick the pattern on. It leaves little or no residue that can't be removed with a quick sand. https://www.crafterscompanion.co.uk/craft-essentials/glues-adhesives/glue-sprays.html
  2. I dip mine in Danish Oil, then glue to the backer after the oil has dried, never had a problem with the backer coming off, (that I've heard of).
  3. Nice work Mahendra, I've also had a go at it. Ooops, just realised I've misspelled Matthew. back to the drawing board.
  4. It's the release agent on the back of the packing tape that acts as the lubricant to prevent burning. Think about it, If they didn't put anything on the back of the tape then you wouldn't be able to unroll it.
  5. Neither do I Marge, so it's to Google I go.
  6. I buy my printers from my local computer shop, at the moment it's Epson and will only buy one that will take compatible inks which he sells.
  7. Travis has updated the forum software and wants to know of things not behaving as was.
  8. We do it in the UK, also on the 18th birthday as it's now the year of the coming of age.
  9. Being in the UK I've no idea how your lb weight paper compares to ours, our paper is measured in gsm. Standard photocopying paper is 80 gsm and I found this tends to split so I moved up to 100gsm and haven't had the problem since.
  10. Very nice Brenda. Welcome to world of commission work.
  11. Here's one video. Steve Good also has a Carter write up on his blog from 2008. http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/2008/03/carter-johnson-puzzle-maker.html
  12. Brenda, Posties use strong elastic bands on the mail, around here they drop them on the streets so I collect them up whilst I'm out with the dogs.
  13. Brenda, You could try gluing up less pieces in one go, say if you have 4 pieces to glue, glue them up in 2 lots of 2's then glue the 2 together, it might help. Also you could try sprinkling a few grains of salt on the glue to stop them sliding, I've heard a lot of people use this method but not tried it myself.
  14. No, no, send them to me.
  15. Makita 2012NB is brilliant
  16. No need for a smaller saw, you can cut small stuff on a big saw but not big stuff on a small saw and anyway if it's not your saw then you won't have to buy blades for it.
  17. Lovely first box Brenda, rub some finishing oil on it, you might be surprised at how it looks and if you don't it'll burn better.
  18. A weed is a flower growing in the wrong place.
  19. I refuse to use them and the self checkouts because I think that by using them I'm could be doing someone out of a job. What's 5 minutes more at the checkout anyway.
  20. If Tony is housebound you ought to be in the workshop spreading out from your corner.
  21. Here you go Brenda.
  22. A small corner today, the whole workshop tomorrow. Look out Tony, Brenda's coming.
  23. Nice space there Brenda. It's a long time since I've heard anyone other than me utter that phrase, which makes it doubly funny here because we live in a bungalow.
  24. Brenda, It could be that you have a bad batch of blades, all manufacturers have had them, you could try a different brand just to check whether it's the blades or you.
