  1. This is a Steve Good pattern and I cut them out from scrap wood. I put the crystal eyes on with my hot fix crystal wand. I did have plan on painting them but liked the wood grain so I put a wood turner's finish on them. turned out great... Enjoy Fay
  2. I made a second box and after it was painted and finished. I decorated them both using the hot fix crystals on them. They sure do look nice and interesting. It's fun to make them to your own liking. On the second box I made the beak a little smaller and was not able to get the shaping quite right but what the hey! They turned out nice any way... I think Mom and Sis will like them for Easter... Fay
  3. The bow on the first box was not part of the pattern It was the very first time I tried any compound cutting and it turned out real nice. I was so proud of doing that one. So it made the box look real nice and added a nice touch to it too. Fay
  4. Thank you every one. Yesterday was Mom's last day with her theraphy and she is doing great on that. Her memory probably will not get any better, but yep, I do manage to find time to get some scrolling done. But not today as I did not get any sleep last night so will go right back to bed in a little bit. Just took the trash out to the roadside to be picked up and I'm dressed. Going to lie down and try to get a couple hours of sleep. I don't know what kept me awake, but one thing I was so upset because my DVD player quit working and I brought over a bunch of movies to watch. It is a possibility that the DVD was dirty so that could cause the player to stop so will look into that later. Oh well back to bed and thank you all for the nice compliments on my boxes. I have another Easter egg box started but will put a sealer on it before any thing else. Have a great day Fay
  5. The pictures aren't real great, but I made these 2 boxes. The star shaped one is in a scroll saw workbook that I have and the other one is the Easter egg that some one had shared with us on the other forum. I was disappointed in the lacker that I put on them as the finish did not come out even so I may try the wood turners finish to see if that will help any. Next time I'll try tung oil and then put on a finish or some sort of sealer. Enjoy the pictures.. Fay
  6. Looks like a great price for that product. I just bought some needle files and I'm itching to get in the shop and try them out. There are a half dozen different shapes and sizes that are so small and a dremel can't get into those tiny places so I'm hoping mine will work out well. Can't wait to try them out. I paid more than that price for a handle and the files but the handle will be easy for me because of the arthritis and such. Great find. Fay
  7. That is a great idea! I have a piece of wood like that at the house in Sequim. I could cut out some thing like that and do the same thing. I might just do that with some scraps that I have laying around. Take care and have a great day Fay
  8. That is fantastic! Some thing like would be nice to use with the seniors in nursing facilities and such too. They too forget letters and numbers.
  9. Oooohhhh ok now I see how it is used. I posted on the forum where the pattern is because I did not see any pictures of a completed one. This is neat. I wonder will it work for a Kindle Fire? I might have to make one.. Thanks in advance for sharing your pattern with us.. Fay
  10. It's a beautiful piece. I know she will love it. You did a great job on the box and I like the heart thing in it plus the little key. It'll be a keepsake for ever ... Fay
  11. Well I got two emails that that mag I found had been sold to some one else so what a bummer. But it's ok. My leg is sure itching quite a bit and keeping me awake for the most part. I just can't get to sleep. I still have quite a knot there on my knee but I just feel like I want to rip open the skin and scratch it to bleep. I just give it a gentle pet as if I were petting a cat and that makes it feel better for some reason. Going to try to go to sleep now so Good night all..Fay
  12. Wow Dan you did a great job on this. It is an interesting item. One can also use it for holding those little wallet sized photos too. Or credit cards. Take care Fay
  13. Not too bad if I say so myself, but wished I could have been able to center the base better. I did find the mag that the pattern is in so I ordered it and will wait until it comes before I try another one. This is my own drawing so now I know I can draw out my own compound cut items if I wanted to. Sooo the tooth is done ,, fillings and all... LOL The tooth picks are the fillings.... Enjoy Fay
  14. Very nice. It almost looks like a foot with out the toes. I like the shape. I think it is great. Take care Fay
  15. I practiced on ply wood nd any other scraps that were laying around before I made my first project. So the ply would be great for practicing fret work and a nice pine would be great for making other things and practicing the tight cuts and such. Just let the blade do the cutting and go slow. Good luck.. What saw do you have? I have a Dremel Moto saw and the shop fox 16" variable sped scroll saw which conked out and now I have the big yellow Dewalt 788 Love it but hope it will not conk out. Good luck again Fay
  16. Thank you every one. I probably will take a day off from scrolling and woodworking and such. I woke up feeling a little under the weather and did not sleep well last night. So going to hit the sack again as it is not very comfortable. I feel like I'm going to roll out of it. Wish my own bed was over here. Well off to go try to get a little more sleep. Take care. Fay Oh I forgot to tell you .. on the plans for these doggie tails, there are hips on the sides of the legs but I omitted those because I did not like the way they looked. I made a couple and put them on to see get an idea how they would look but they didn't look right to me. So you can add them or leave them off. Have a great day Fay
  17. Sis probably won't take the time to hang the leashes where they belong either and no I'm not taking her dogs for a walk! She can handle her dogs by herself. I let them out in the mornings but that is all I'll do. Shouldn't have to take care of her dogs. I made them because I thought they were fun and will put a smile on a person's face. I did have plan on hanging this by the back door so the leashes would be right there when she need them.. Now to finish that John Wayne portrait and get it in the frame. Good night all I'm tired and will hit the sack now after taking my meds... Fay
  18. By the way the site I bought the pattern from is www.winfieldcollection.com Look under scroll saw patterns.. Fay
  19. I once had a t shirt that had a picture of the dog's hind end ( sled dog ) and it said unless your the lead dog, the scenery never changes... LOL!
  20. All I have to do is put the saw tooth picture holder thingies on the back and then it is ready to hang. I purchased this pattern from the Winfeild Collection site and cut it out on the scroll saw. Took a few days to finish it. Enjoy Fay
  21. Real nice looking shells there. You have a lot of talent and patience. I should try one using a good grade of plywood and those stands are great too. I made a stand for mine out of a bowl that I cut out that did not turn out so I used it for the stand. turned out nice. Have a great day Fay
  22. Congrats on the new saw. I got the Big Yellow when my fox conked out. So I too have had 3 scroll saws. The first one being the Dremel Moto Saw which is fine for little things like ornaments and other small items, but you can't make bowls on it. No table tilt on that saw. Then there's the Fox.( Shop Fox ) it does have a table tilt but the blades are harder to change but not too bad of an entry level saw. Now I have the Big Yellow DeWalt 788. Love it. The blades are so much easier to change and I don't even have to tilt the table to get it in there. The table tilts both ways and I played with that yesterday. I can't get over how much larger the DeWalt is compared to the Shop Fox. Makes me wonder how the blazes I got it up on the bench! Enjoy your new saw when it gets there. Fay
  23. I found some siding that is cut at an angle so I might cut that and glue some wedges together and make another shell. I have a couple of other projects going on now so don't know when I'll get going on it. your ply wood shell turned out great. Looks like a lot of wedges on yours Take care Fay
  24. Glad you found your blades. Looks like you have enough to last awhile.. Happy scrolling on the Black Betty...Fay
  25. Looking forward to seeing your first project on the Black Betty. Sounds like you are enjoying the new saw. Congrats Fay
