  1. It is another pattern that is in Carole Rothman's book on wooden bowls and I made this vase just for fun. I had a little trouble with the angles but was able to fix and save the project. When I scrolled at the 45 degree angle and got that part done I was shaking. I had never scrolled that steep of an angle before, but all in all I'm happy with this vase. I was so afraid that I was sanding a little too thin as I could see in the sunlight how thin the wood was getting, I got a nice vase out of it in spite of things. The wood is poplar and some of the scraps left over from the Noah's Ark project that I did... Enjoy Fay
  2. This is not a real good picture, but the project is done. Just a few more animals to put the finish on but I have been making more sawdust so will clean up before I do that. Most of the wood is poplar and some are scraps of pine and the finish is wood turner's finish. Enjoy,,, Fay
  3. Thank you every one. The wood is poplar and the finish is a wood turner's finish and a product called eeee-ultra Sheen. It's a paste type of stuff you put on with a rag and then after about an hour polish it. I'm thinking of putting a coat of spray laquer on it but haven't decided yet. Thanks again for all the nice words.. Fay
  4. Just got this vase done. It is a pattern in Carole Rothman's book on wooden bowls. The pictures are a little dark but there is no light in here so I had to fix them a little bit. I'm proud of the vase and had no problems with the drilling of the angles... Enjoy! Fay
  5. I wear a 3M mask also that have those little pink filters on the sides. It doesn't steam my lenses but they do get dust in them also. I ordered a smaller one and it should be here today or tomorrow so looking forward to that. Ordered extra filter things that go on the sides also. The blower on my saw is pointed so the dust blows away from me but I can't get over how much dust there actually is all over the shop when I get done for the day. I try to clean up after I'm done for the day to try to cut down on all that dust. Well any how a dust mask is a must,, You can't go to Walmart and buy a new set of lungs... Fay
  6. That is another item that can be made from scraps. I will have to cut some too. Looks like you could put a book on it too so that would be nice for those who like to read in bed. I made a book pillow a number of years ago and I still get messages from people that want my pattern. I don't have it any more as it was in a folder and when Century link had changed their web sight,, they change my email and all of my folders are gone. Grrrr.... Shows I should have written all of them to a cd. Dang! Some of those folders had very important things I needed to save in them ..Great job on the stands.... Fay
  7. It's a beautiful box and it will be treasured for years to come. Great job on the finish too. I have never treid the inlay as yet so I want to give that a try. Maybe some thing small and simple. Take care Fay
  8. The bears are from Bobscroll and the cowboy hat is a Steve Good pattern. THese are both completed and they turned out great. I like the self framing idea. I found these cabiner doors at the Habitat store in Port Angeles. Enjoy Fay
  9. Great idea on the engraving their names on them. I can still put a picture in mine but it would have to be cut the size of the place where the picture goes. Amazing how ideas come about. Fay
  10. Wonderful! I have made t his glove also but forgot to put in the opening where you put a picture. But it turned out great in spite of that. yours looks so realistic. It's great what you are doing and these kids will treasure these... Fay
  11. Yes,, I knew it was chewing gum but I thought I would be kind of funny on that. That is a very old joke we used to tell when we were kids too. I don't chew gum as it is too hard on my teeth now as I don't have any bottom teeth on the right side so can't even chew things like those cheese balls any more and it hurts a tooth on the left side. Grrrr... So what else is new? Have a great day Fay
  12. Well I too get t he SSW&C mag and definitely not the Playboy as it does teach you what goes in hard and comes out soft and goey,, and it's not made of wood either.. LOLOLOL!!!! Fay
  13. Wow! I want to learn how to make tray puzzles like that. It would be nice for my Mom when her memory goes even worse than it is. she can't remember from day to day and one day she will forget the alphabets too. It will help her too.... Great job on the puzzle.. Fay
  14. I saw that puzzle on the Steve Good site. Looks interesting for us poor folks. we cant afford to cut up those bills! Great job on them by the way.. Fay
  15. I saw some rotary tools on sale at Swains today and almost bought one. I couldn't tell you if it would work in the plunge router or not but I don't see why the store clerk would not ley you try it before you buy it to see if it will fit. If it fits the mini drill press for Dremel , then it should work. The part where you screw the head of the tool to the mini drill press thing or work station is the same size as the plunge router. Well going to get my stuff packed and then hit the sack. Good night Fay
  16. I have the 3000 model and I have used it so hard it isn't funny. I just bought new motor brushes for it yesterday and will put t hose in tomorrow when I get back to my tools. I use it for sanding and such and some drilling of entry holes. That little tool sure has worked quite well for me and I turn it to the highest speed. I have used a lower speed on some things. I've had a few drill bits burn the wood so be careful. I just recieved a drill guide for rotary tools and it can drill at an angle so will give that a try also. I hope these brushes I bought yesterday will work as the instructions don't say they will work on the 3000 model but there is only one way to find out. The instructions say to change the motor brushes after every 60 hours of use, but heck I have been using my tool for a few years and did not change the brushes. It tends to get a bit hot so hopefully the new brushes will help that. Other wise I may end up getting a new Dremel tool. Good luck with what you decide on. Fay
  17. I love my drill press but can't loosen that bolt to be able to use the t able tilt. I really don't need that any more as I found a drill guide thing for rotary tools and I purchased it for under $15 bucks. I got to Sequim yesterday and I will be going back on Thursday so I haven't even seen it yet. Looking forward to giving that a try to be able to drill angled holes when I need one for bowls and the like. Glad you like your new drill press. I think I may get one with the lazer if I should have to get a new one. THey are great to have for drilling a good straight hole. Take care Fay Going to hit the sack now
  18. I would go to the craft store and buy some of those plastic or silk flowers to put in it and then the flowers will look nice and fresh all year. That is a nice looking dry vase. You could put real flowers in it if you have a plastic or glass vase that will fit inside. Great job! Fay
  19. I have a set of different size collets for my Dremel and the drill bits that are made for the Dremel tool. So I use the size what will hold the drill bit I need to use. Used one last night to drill some entry holes for a fret work horse pattern. On line I found an angle guide for rotary tools and it will be here on Tuesday. It should come in handy for drilling an angle cut cutting out bowls and such. Good luck with your drill bits. I can never find any long enough. I need them a tad longer to go through the wood when I need to drill an angle. Take care.. Fay
  20. That is so adorable! A child sure will love it not that he has a face and his spots on it. Sooo cute indeed.. Fay
  21. My Shop Fox has a place to hook up a shop vac hose but that hose sticks out too far and can't stand there and scroll with it so I used my old cpap hose to hook up the shop vac with and that worked like a charm. The reason for the vac hose not working right is because that end of the hose is a straight plastic tube that goes about so far and then it's a bendable hose, so the thing would stick out right in front of the machine. I love my big yellow and I too wish it had a hose hook up. I vacuum after each item that I cut out. Take care,, Fay
  22. Thank you every one. I did enjoy making this small simple one. It is a nice one day project and would make nice Easter baskets. I wished I had made a couple of them before Easter to give Mom and Sis, but I gave them each the Easter egg boxes that I made. So that was good. Take care and have a nice evening Fay
  23. A few days ago some one had posted a topic about a pick nick basket that his wife wanted him to make and he was not able to find a pattern. Some one else had posted a video. That video prompted me to try the collapse basket. Any way, long story short, this is a Steve Good pattern and I gave it a try. Just a small simple one. Last night I tried and got the angle backwards and this a.m. I cut it out again and got it right. Here are a couple of pictures of it. Just need to put the finish on it. Enjoy Fay
  24. Looks like you'll need the clamps for the pinless blades and you will need a hose for the blower. You can use the kind of hoses that hooks to a fish pump. I did that on my Shop Fox. I can't tell you what other parts that might be needed unless we can see the rest of the saw. And of course you'll need blades. This saw looks like it will take the 5" blades. I would have some one look at it that knows more about parts and the like to see if this saw is worth keeping. You might be lucky and have a back up saw once you can get some parts for it. If you use the pin end blades you might be fine. The hook is there on the upper arm to hook a pin end blade to it. Can't see the bottom arm where the blade goes to. Have a great day Fay
  25. I printed out one of Steve's collapse basket and waiting for my repositional adhesive to get here so I can put it on some wood and see how it will work out. The repositional adhesive should fit my Xyron Ez laminator and it should be much cheaper than using the large shipping labels that I have been using. The adhesive will be here today some time. Well gotta go do some house work. Good luck again with the basket. I'd like to also find that pattern that is in the video too, but I did enjoy watching the video too. Will have to watch more of those. Take care, Fay
