  1. I was just thinking of getting one with the stand. My bench is not wide enough for a 20" saw. We went to several places in town to look for the brush to put in the thing but none to be had. One of the clerks at Home Depot told me there is a repair shop in Port Angeles and we did not find it. I wanted to talk to them about the cost and such and see if it would be cost effective to fix my saw. I could have it as a back up if it could. Well my birthday is coming up so the Big Yellow will be my gift.... Will be looking for some good deals on it I tried to apply for a Home Depot credit card but was denied as my income is too low. I talked to them today when we were there. Well I'm a disable senior so I can't do any thing about that. Well shipoopi! Any way, have a great night Fay
  2. Thank you all for your replies. I will look into getting some brushes for my saw and then in the mean time get Big Yellow later. Will keep an eye on places that sell it. Not too long ago, I think it was during the holidays, they had the 788 on sale on Amazon for under $400. Now they are $499.00. Should have gotten that saw! But then I did not know the fox would go bonkers on me. So I'll be looking around. Oh yes I did see a nice Craftsman saw at Sears for $89.00 Was going to get it but decided I will wait for a good deal on Big Yellow.... Have a great day Fay
  3. I did look on craigslist and found one scroll saw but it was a Delta. It did look good but they did not have a lot of information on it and any way no way to get to where it was located. Going to go ahead with Big Yellow. I decided and I did sign up for the home depot card and apparently I can't get one for some reason. I wonder if it is because I'm a disabled senior and have to depend on my SS check every month. I always pay my bills on time. It's 1 a.m. and I'm not asleep as yet. Just a little depressed now because of my saw. At least I have my Temp- tations cookware coming tomorrow and that wasn't very much. It'll cheer me up a little bit. I found that chicken baker that I've wanted for so long. Got those on clearance and I have a couple pieces of jewelry coming this week also. My birthday is coming too and the big yellow will be my gift. I'll have Sis take me to Home Depot next month and then maybe I can get one right from the store. If not then I'll order it. Well going to try to get some shut eye. Have a great morning I should say...... Fay
  4. Great idea on the wood burning. I can maybe work more on the red tail hawk I did. Will try to apply for the home depot card and hopefully be able to get Big Yellow. I did look at the features and I do like the easy blade change. Mr. Fox was hard to change the blades on him because I had to tilt the table just enough to get my hand in there to put the lower clamp on. It's tedious when doing fret work , but I have wanted that saw for awhile and I thought sure Fox would last longer than it did. I can also clean up the shop or pack up some of my things to get it ready to take home so my shop will have more room. Wish I could get the 16" as my bench is not wide enough for the 20" but I can get a stand later on. So just a couple more weeks and maybe I will have a new scroll saw.. I hope so any ways. Have a great day Fay
  5. Well dang, I can't find the Shop Fox information that I had so I'm going to get a DeWalt 788 when I have enough money. Shoot I just spent a couple hundred on other things, but I get paid in a couple of week and I have a birthday coming so it will be my B-day present from me to me. So between now and then I'll be looking for better prices on them. I think it will be a better saw than the Shop Fox....Have a great day y-alls... Fay
  6. Thanks all,, I'm going to contact the Shop Fox dealer and see what they say. I don't want to go all the way to Bremerton where their repair shop is so that is out so hopefully I can get it fixed here some where... Have a great day Fay
  7. I'm so mad as it konked out. I was going to oil it and then decided to check that little brush that is in the motor and it is practically none exhistant. It is gone! So I will have to get it repaired and hopefully it will work after that. I was so sure Mr. Fox would last longer than I had him. About 6 months or so. I bought him last Summer and sure did enjoy using him. Maybe this is a good excuse to get Big Yellow. In the mean time I will look around for a place in Sequim to see where I can take him to be fixed. DANG! Scrolling on hold now.... Shoot $#%%#^*^%W@#@@ So much for cuss words.... Hoe you all are doing fine. I just had 12 cuts left to do on my fret work wood pecker I was working on too.... Have a great day Fay
  8. I think I would have trouble sleeping in my shop with my tools as the saw dust would get into my cpap and I would be breathing in all that saw dust. LOL! When I'm home I do sleep in my sewing studio, but I don't inhale all those sewing needles.... I have't sewn a stitch in a while as I'm staying in Sequim to help care for our mother. Well going down to the shop in a few minutes so best get crackin' Have a great day. Oh great buy on the DeWalt.... Fay
  9. If I had it my way and the greenbacks,,, I would get both.....One for a back up and one to use all the time. Right now I have a Shop Fox. Not to bad of a saw but it will do until one day I get Big Yellow or the EX... Have a great day Fay
  10. I like it,, I tried to find this moose but did not find it on Steve good's site at all but did see some of the rest of the cute little animals he has. I want to make this but can't find the pattern. I have the mouse pattern and thes will help use up some of those smaller pieces of wood that I have laying around..... Have a great day Fay
  11. Thank you every one. Today I'm just going to give the shop a good cleaning before I start another project. Sure needs it. LOL! Have a great day Fay
  12. Thank you every one. Wish I knew how to post the picture of the inside of the bowl.... Ahhh haaa figured it out! Here is the picture of the inside of the bowl. Will be making more bowls once I get more wood. Have a great evening Fay
  13. I made this bowl from the book, Wooden Bowls by Carole Rothman and I decided to experiment a little bit. First off I cut it out from plywood. yeppers,,, plywood! It is an 8 lobed bowl and I played with shaping of the bowl. I took a washer and drew a half circle on around the top of the bowl and then used a Dremel to shape the scallops and then used the Guinevere to shape them and rounded the bottom of the bowl a little bit. Sorry the pictures are not great but used my cell phone to take the pictures. The plywood is a BB 3/4" ply and it didn't have them little holes in it like some of the el cheapo plys do and those would have had to be filled in. So happy with the out come of this bowl. Enjoy Fay
  14. Actually the inlay is supposed to be in the bottom of the box and an intarsia frog on the lid. There are a lot of tight turns in the cutting so I decided to make the frog from a different wood. The lid and bottom I stack cut those out of 1/4" thick poplar and then cut the rings out one at a time out of 3/4" poplar. I used green acrylic paint in green. I painted the whole frog in green with 3 coats of the paint and then when it was dry, I used those little paint pens to embellish the frog legs and body and eyes and when that was dry I sprayed some shellac on the frog, about 2 coats of that and then glued it to the lid when it was dry. This box took me about 2 to 3 days to make. I have a bowl in the making now and that is interesting. Seahawks WON! Have a great night Fay
  15. Thank you every one. My sister likes this box too. I think it is one of the best boxes I've made. Have a great night,,, Seahawks are ahead, So far Broncos nothing.........go hawks...! Fay
  16. I made this box from a pattern in a scroll saw mag but I did not do it according to the instructions as I have not learned how to do the inlay as yet. I did it a little bit different and used the frog for the handle on the lid of the box and put a lining in the bottom. I'm very happy with how well the box turned out... Enjoy Fay
  17. Great job on the nose or should I say,, earphone holder... I have made a number of these noses and I made a witch's nose and a Pinocchio nose for fun and what I like is that you can make these real quick and give as gifts on the holidays or birthday and such... Have a great day Fay
  18. Hi y-alls. Just got started with scrolling and love it. I'm having a ball . I have the new Moto saw from Dremel and it is a nice saw for small crafty things. I broke a blade today so had to replace it. That was the first time doing that. I have made a fish key holder and a miniature fish plaque and I'm now working on a mouse and cheese intarsia. I'm almost done with that. I'm doing their tails. I'm going to do a gold fish pattern that is in a book I bought. Any way,, I hope I'm welcome here so here's to having a good time with me scroll saw. Have a great day, ,, Fay
