    Iggy, Do yourself a favor. There is a connecting rod bolted onto the motor. On the other end of that piece is an undersized bolt that carries the full load of the saw. It broke on my Delta and a few other Dewalt & Delta owners on this site had that happen also. Take that bolt to your hardware store and buy one like it, but stainless steel. Stainless is a harder metal. jerry

    When we lived in a different city, a Lady at a community college started a wood carving group. My impression was that she was trying to show the school "how busy she was." You do learn a few things from the other people, but I soon felt that I was driving 4 miles in the dark just to sit on a different chair to carve. After a couple of months I lost interest and quit going. At anything, people will reach a certain plateau and that's as good as you will ever get. My carving was only "fair." I would venture to say that nobody on this site could ever improve enough to be a major league baseball player, qualify for the NFL, the Masters, etc. etc. Would guess that people would soon tire of sitting in a different location to scroll. jerry

    Charley, As everyone knows, I'm a slow thinker. IF you order the Cherry Tree pattern that I have, be aware of the fact that the patterns for the front & back are not square. The first one I made listed to the starboard side. Have since scotch taped plain paper of the side lines and drew new ones. jerry

    I am stack cutting Victorian Sleighs that I resized to 3 3/4" X 6". The back pieces are beveled. Have attached a picture and instructions for how I beveled stack cut pieces. Maybe it will help someone. jerry Beveling one or more sides when stack cutting.doc

    Because of an unheated garage in Iowa, I only saw when the weather permits, and am fine with that. At the end of the sawing season, I take apart my 40-694 and grease it. Am a long time believer in preventative maintenance. Jim, you will thank yourself for years that you raised your self confidence level by tackling it.

    I'm the guy that replaced that bolt with Stainless steel on my Delta. Never had a problem since. It's a stupid design flaw. The entire load of the saw is on that one undersized bolt. IF you take yours apart, take that bolt to any hardware store to match the size & thread. Cheap insurance, if you are digging into the saw anyway. Stainless is a harder steel. jerry

    I top feed. When installing a new blade, clamp the top. Raise the upper arm. If the bottom of the blade is slightly to the right or left of the hole, bend the blade near the top. Note how far forward the bottom of the blade is from the near side of the hole. That gives you a mental image of how far back to slide the wood while searching for the hole. Also, sometimes the blade will go down part way and stop. Hold the arm with 1 hand and grasp the bottom of the blade with the other hand and pull down. It gets easier after a while. Good luck Friend.

    I bought a Klock Kit? (spelling??) They sent 2. Neither one kept time. IF I were to make another clock, I would seriously look at clocks in a WalMart, Target, KMart, etc. They all seem to keep good time, at a fraction of the cost. jerry

    The only real difference I see is that on the old site, I logged out each time, but checked "Remember Me." Each time I fired up the laptop, I was logged in. With the new site, It is also checked "Remember Me", but it doesn't. I log in manually, each time. Oh the agony of it all.

    Rolf, I like yours also, but already laminated mine. Did not print yours. Could you print, join and laminate yours as one piece, or would that get too long? Perhaps it wouldn't be worth the bother of lining up the bottom edges. Nice work Friend. Thanks for sharing.

    I am both old and lazy (High School coach said I had Chinese Rheumatism. That's where all your blood turns into lead and settles in your A_____ .) Too much work to bend down and accurately set the degree of table tilt. I went to: GOOGLE - PRINT PROTRACTOR and imported that into Inkscape. Drew/traced the attached protractor. Made it 2 1/4" high. Next week I will go to a copy shop and have it laminated. Next it will be glued to an 1/8" scrap for strength. Will saw just below the bottom and sand to the bottom line. Intended to be held behind a tensioned blade when tilting the table to a desired angle. My newest version of Inkscape prints @ 100%. IF anyone wants a copy, resize as needed. jerry ProtractorOne.pdf

    Saddened to read that Friend. I am 77 years old and have yet to find an intelligent way to hurt myself. For me, it has always been preceded by something stupid.
