  1. I like the way you think Friend. My guess would have been to mount a beer holder.
  2. Dave Barry would say "That would be a good name for a rock & roll band".
  3. The one I bought at the time was not as cumbersome as the one showing in the video. Saw was bolted onto a workbench and I didn't notice any vibration. IF you consider something like this, buy a used bike & swap the seat quick release clamp with a bolt. Resale the bike (or ride it, whatever suits your fancy ! )
  4. This probably won't apply to your saw, but I will throw it out there. My first saw was a $69 Performax (no longer made) but similar to a Skil. I saw a video about something used for bicycle repair. Went to a bike shop & they had so many used ones that they gave me one. Had to take it to a machine shop to get it altered. A couple of years later I went to our Goodwill store where I buy some picture frames. Spotted a child's bicycle and it had just the piece I needed. They use it for a quick release to adjust the seat height. Could have bought bikes for 3 bucks apiece. Go to a Target, WalMart, Goodwill or any place like that and have a look. jerry
  5. Go to this site. http://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/ Search; Tray Baskets
  6. With the skill you have just shown, you are ready to jump in with both feet and tackle any project.
  7. To my eye, you have already posted a pattern. 1. Print it. 2. With a pencil, finish the front of the tusks. 3. If I were cutting it, I would take a pen or pencil and draw scribbly lines for the bridges.
  8. I also find that if I feed the wood too fast, I am putting an excessive load on the machine. Have you tried greatly slowing the rate of speed?
  9. I drove 2 hours to get there. Saw all that I wanted to see in 1:15 minutes and left. It was "OK" but I had expected more. Wouldn't do it again. In all fairness, I'm sure it was held with the best of intentions. They deserve credit for that.
  10. I often tell my Sweet Wife that I should have been born Amish. They are smart enough not to have all this "modern" crap.
  11. Wearing a Army Veteran Cap. Be there only Fri. p.m. Cell 319 - 333 - 8210
  12. I give a lot of my pieces to our Church. The Church gives them to people that come in with problems. i.e. Marital, dealing with the death of a loved one, physical or mental abuse, etc. etc. Therefore, I can give the same pattern any number of times. Have learned to write the lumber dimensions & amount on the pattern. Also, the resizing percentage.
  13. Hi Friend. Our local copy shop has a very expensive copy machines. If it were me, I would have the picture you have enlarged. It already is a pattern. I have also had them e-mail patterns, or parts of, to me. Print your picture , take a ruler to it, and decide to what percentage you want to enlarged to. I write that number on the back of the original, so that when the employee lays it on the copier, they just set that number. Hope this helps. jerry
  14. I love my home made setup. Give this switch some thought.
  15. I plan to be there Friday afternoon. Cell phone is 319 - 333 - 8210. (will not answer if driving). Would consider it an honor to meet some of you Great People. Will be wearing a black colored Veterans cap. jerry
  16. I ship a lot of fretwork (not intarsia). Wrap it with a few layers of bubble wrap. As for the cost, with any carrier, it makes you wonder about taking out a home equity loan. Had already thought about delivering it ourselves, but the gas & meal(s) would cost more. Be prepared to bite the bullet. I don't sell anything, but for those of you that do, be sure to have the buyer also pick up the cost of freight. jerry
  17. Hey Kevin. Tell us more about the kiss on the lips !! Inquiring minds want to know. Great job and story. Thanks for sharing Friend.
  18. Red oak with crystal clear spray finish. Our Lowes oak is junk. One Menards 8 miles away is fair/better. Another Menards 19 miles away is where I usually end up. Have learned to buy 1/4 X 2 (measures 1/2 X 1 1/2) and glue them together. That normally clamps and stays flat. The sides were stacked and taped together just fine.
  19. Just finished this. Used bits & pieces of a pattern for a cathedral clock I made many moons ago. It will be given to a couple that do volunteer work at our Church.
  20. Sue Mey has a Memorial Cross pattern that shows the Gate to Heaven & and a place for the born/died dates and name.
  21. Super Job !! Nothing there not to love. jerry
  22. Thanks for the compliments. This great site has nice people that go in different directions. On opposite ends, some turn out lots of $20ish priced pieces that will sell. I make very few things and am always trying to outdo myself as 98% of them are given as gifts. The majority of them go to our Church, to people that do great work, a lot of volunteering, but mostly to people that walk in the door with problems. i.e. Death in the family, divorces, financial problems, medical issues, etc. etc. jerry
  23. I already mailed it on the 2nd Tuesday of last week. IF you want, you can stand by your mailbox and hold your breath until it arrives.
  24. 1/4" solid oak sprayed with crystal clear enamel.
  25. http://www.scrolleronline.com/category/s?keyword=8469TL If you decide to cut this pattern, you would be wise to e-mail me for assembly instructions. [email protected] Gluing the pieces can be a challenge on your first one.
