  1. Dan. Words escape me.
  2. I would basically echo this. Have a newer Delta, but they tension the same. I am a top feeder. (It would also apply if you feed from the bottom.) When I clamp the bottom, I take my left fingers, insert the blade AND LIFT UP ON THE CLAMP to remove any slack and tighten the clamp. Secondly, as crupia stated, you can remove the switch (4 screws) and remove the cam underneath. You will see a rod pointing towards you that has the end bent up. Give it one turn clockwise, reinstall the cam and try it before putting the switch back on. If you still can't get sufficient tension. give the rod another turn. Hope this helps friend. jerry
  3. Also off the original subject of this post. Am told that when eating out, "us old people" should ask for a senior discount. My old brain never remembers to. A week ago Sunday, my wife and I ate lunch at Cheddars (a nice restaurant.) I asked up front if they gave either a senior or military. Was told to check with the server. She said yes to the military. Before and during the meal, we had nice short conversations. When she brought the check, there was a $13.82 "policy discount." That was the full price of my meal!! We asked her how that restaurant divides the tips. She replied, "The server gets 70% and the other 30% is divided to the staff." In retrospect, we decided that the amount was determined at her discretion. I folded up some legal tender and stuck it in her hand. Learned years ago that if you treat everyone with dignity and respect, once in a while someone will surprise the heck out of you.
  4. Hey Guy. Maybe it's just you on that's banned from certain things !!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I use something like this, but plastic, not felt. After peeling off the paper, I put a drop of super glue on the plastic tab before applying, as I don't trust their adhesive to last for years. jerry
  6. Pinterest jerry
  7. Fabulous job of inlay cutting Sir.
  8. Very well done !!
  9. I e-mailed Pedro and he replied in a few hours. He indicated that is not his pattern. If I never find it, please don't sweat it. The world will still keep turning. jerry
  10. You folks are awesome !!! I sent the picture to Pedro and asked if it's available. His site states that he doesn't have time to respond to all e-mails. On Facebook, it states that Hans had a hip replaced late last year. I don't care to bother him at this time. I only scroll as a hobby and shut down for the winter. Spending more time with a Wonderful Wife of 54 years is a welcome change of things that I enjoy. jerry
  11. Does anyone know where I can buy this pattern? Please and Thank You. jerry
  12. Saw this on another site. https://www.facebook.com/Trustmeiamamechanicalengineer/videos/873052902836314/ jerry
  13. I use FD UR blades. As you face the saw, the "sharp teeth" of the blade are on your right & the flat side of the blade on your left. When you learn the mindset to ALWAYS spin the wood clockwise, you will see a world of difference. jerry
  14. I have Delta and am pleased with it. Both are probably shipped from the factory(s) greased inadequately. There are 2 schools of thought on this site, and both have merit. 1. I have been doing mechanical work most of my life, and it is second nature to me. I unpacked my saw, started it up to be sure that it was OK and dissembled a brand new saw and greased all the bearings. I take mine apart every year and grease it. 2. Others don't want to do that because it voids the warranty. Some will tell you that their saw didn't last the warranty period. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. An awful lot will depend on how many hours a year you use it. I only saw "when I feel like it." Do not try to sell anything and shut down for the winter (Iowa) because I don't have a heated place to work, and don't care to put in a heater to do so. I think I read on this site that it's easier to get repair parts for a Dewalt. Best of luck on your decision Friend. jerry
  15. My Thanks also Fab4. I downloaded Tropicana also. It's great to have Friends in High Places !! jerry
  16. Ditto. The above responses remind me of when I was in elementary school. Us boys would argue for hours about which is better, Ford or Chevy. Looking back, each of us was sure that what we had WAS THE BEST. We also had an auto dealer that would tell a prospective buyer (about a particular vehicle he wanted to sell), "Buts that's the ONLY one I have that you would really look good in." My 2 cents worth is to pick a brand that you look good sitting in front of. jerry
  17. Edward, my Friend. What is "cleaning" and "organizing" that you refer to? I know not of what you speak. jerry
  18. They look like you are almost ready to quit learning Friend. These all look like you are "already there." Great work !! jerry
  19. Bryan, Give yourself a high five and go ahead and brag about your work. Your first pieces look great Friend. jerry
  20. No argument with the above comments. However, when top feeding with my Delta, I place my right fingers just behind the blade holder, lift BUT NOT LOCK the arm up. Thread the blade and lower the arm. With this or a Dewalt, you now clamp the blade and tension. Two motions. With the Jet, you pull the arm down and clamp/tension. Two motions. Not having even seen a Jet, it appears to be six of one and a half dozen of the other. It's too bad their bottom holder isn't like other saws. jerry
  21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSBM70Ru5n4 The upper clamp looks like a definite improvement. However, after becoming a "top feeder", I would never go back. Too many tiny holes drilled, plus a few small shapes already cut, made me "see the light." The Jet appears to be for only "bottom feeders." You would need one hand to hold the arm up, one hand to hold the board and your third hand to thread the blade into the hole. I am underwhelmed by that. Just my 2 cents worth. jerry
  22. Certainly the work of a true craftsman ! jerry
  23. You got that right Friend. You know the saying, "If you are having any kind of tech problem, go borrow the 10 year old kid next door." jerry
  24. Dan, Things you are possibly not aware of; Every time you complete a portion, hit SAVE. You remember the saying, "Jesus Saves." Later, if you mess up, Close Without Saving. Re-open and you get back to your last save. Another thing you can do if you mess up is EDIT - UNDO LAST MOVE. (You can keep doing this as needed.) To delete the Red, often it is hard to find the sweet spot for clicking the Red. When you do, look on the lower left to see if you have in fact found the Red. Most importantly, when looking for the Red, enlarge the heck out of the screen. You can either use the plus key on your keyboard or use the magnifying tool. I find this works wonders. Hope this helps Friend. jerry
  25. What is great about this site is seeing the different opinions. All are certainly well intentioned. FYI: The clock shown was sawed with a $69 Performax. 2 1/2 years later I thought it was starting to make an odd sound, so I bought another just like it. My 2 cents worth is that a person buying a saw shouldn't deny shoes for the kids, just to be able to say "I'm the guy with the best saw on our block." I apologize for stepping on some toes, but the costs involved with any hobby need to be kept in perspective in the grand scheme of life. jerry
