  2. Is this what you had in mind?? www.etsy.com/listing/110971064/climbing-figure-metal-wall-art-unique
  3. We have made several birdhouses over the years and birds do not like the smell of paint and will often refuse to use a painted birdhouse until the smell goes away. This can be for a few years. They are very sensitive to odors. We just built three bluebird houses this spring and none were painted inside or out and all three house were used by the birds this spring. DW is correct about the black walnut, it is toxic. We always put a vent hole and the bottom is removable for easy cleaning.
  4. Very nice.
  5. Awesome!
  6. Awesome!! Now those are the kind of friend a girl wants........................
  7. Hmmmmmm, I have two Craftsman saws. One is quite old (only takes pin blades) the other is 4-5 years old. I love them both. I don't have a problem changing the blades on either one. Maybe it is just me but for the money I will take a Craftsman any day.
  8. 99% of the plywood you buy In the Big Box Stores chip. We are fortunate to have Johnson Lumber within a reasonable driving distance and this is where I buy my *good* wood. If I am doing something that I will be putting a backer on then the BBS plywood will work. It has nothing to do with the tape you use it is the quality of the wood. Plywood is just that : Ply which is layers of wood glued together and they always chip.
  9. Box of Christmas ornaments for 2015 Portrait of two golden retrievers in car waiting for owner to return Red Wings emblem USMC sign Just finished: Butterfly windchime and a Turtle windchime, a Turtle refrigerator magnet. all to be shipped out June 1. BF just finished three BlueBird houses and will be making a couple more birdhouses as soon as I find patterns for the ones I want.
  10. Hi Larry, Welcome back. The craft shows are just starting up here in Michigan. Sully being in Tenn has probably already starting on the craft show circuit. It's great you and your wife both have a hobby you enjoy and possibly make a few dollars at. Check in often and please share pictures of both your wood items and your wife's quilts. Sure would to see pictures of your 100 year old farm house.
  11. I go to yard sales, flea markets, etc. all the time. I have a huge stack of picture frames and I get them anywhere from free to 50 cents. I even take the ones with out glass (they are usually free) as I don't like to use glass over a wood portrait. A lot of sales with have a free box filled with junk.........................first place I head. A always find something I can use in my crafts. The sales are starting to get going now that the weather has warmed up a bit. I especially love the community wide sales.
  12. Growing up my parents would tell us if we didn't like what they were making to make our own. They would have liver and onions and bro and I would have hot dogs. We were never forced to eat anything we didn't like.
  13. Beautiful Marg. Can't wait to see what you do next.
  14. Check out your local thrift shops and see if they have a wooden desk. You want it fairly heavy to offset the vibration from the saw. My Craftsman sits on a simple stand my BF made out of 4x4 (legs) 2x4 (top) very sturdy.
  15. I remember this pattern, I thought it was so awesome and still do. Thanks for bringing it back.
  16. I have my copy, got it about a week or so ago. Love this magazine. Great article Travis!
  17. Would also make good selling ornaments to hang in the closet to keep moths away.
  18. It is a wonderful store. We wandered around for at least 3 hours. We are planning on going to N.C. every summer to visit family so we will be going to the hardware store. It will be a top priority!!!!! Now I have to check out the two sites Doug posted!
  19. It would be well worth the trip. Another lumber company to check out is l.l. Johnson lumber and Johnson's workbench (all one title). They are in Charlotte,Michigan
  20. Last week we were on vacation in Asheville North Carolina. There is a hardware store that is NOT the run of the mill hardware store. They have some hardware, commercial type drill presses, band saws, etc. This hardware store is for the woodworker. They have a very large selection of exotic wood. They had a whole tree cut into slabs with matching grain. We were there for three hours diging thru boxes of scrap pieces of wood they sold by the pound ($1.15 regular and $2.99 a pound for exotic). Plus drooling all over the place on the wood they had stacked downstairs. Here's the website......enjoy!! www.ashevillehardware.com Chelcass
  21. Thanks again everybody. They are both wrapped and ready to ship.
  22. Very nice danny.
  23. Thanks everybody. This is my favorite of the two also. I like the colors better. Well DW if you stacked cut them it might not be so bad. Start in the winter so you have plenty cut for the warmer weather shows. The beads you can get from Wal-mart. Hobby Lobby, Michaels or order the n off e-bay.
  24. Here is the second wind chime. A little different coloring and of course different beads and clangers. Enjoy, ChelCass
  25. Thanks everybody. We finally got the house and garage repaired now we have to decide if we are going to do battle with the insurance co. over the barn. Steve's pattern is sized so the backer it is a bit bigger then the scroll, part of the backer was cut on my bandsaw and the finish cuts I did on the scroll.
