  3. I DON'T DO CRAFT STORES ANDY MORE I HAD GOODS IN TWO DIFFERENT STORES ONE STORE SOLD SEEVERAL PRODUCTS AND I GOT MY ASKING PRICE. THE OTHER STOOR STAYED OPEN FOR A FEW MONTHS AND TOOK OFF WITH ALL MY SCROLL WORK, I ABOUT BROKE EVEN ON THE TWO STORES, NOT WORTH MY TIME. I SELL MY OWN OR GIVE IT AWAY. IKE
  4. My advice is to use good Blades like Olson of Flying Dutchman, There isn't much difference between them and the cheaper ones. As for Wood I like I/4 in oak plywood it makes a much better job but does cost about 1/3 more, From simple to almost impossible, and for the Saw get the best that your budget will allow And for advice you are all ready there. IK.
  5. Welcome from Goshen Ohio. I have a DE Walt and love it. Waiting for your pictures.
  6. Well Doc join the club I lost 1/2 of my left thumb about 5 years ago on a Table saw I had the radio on and lost constriction. singing along with willy nelson and I guess the saw didn't like my singing voice . I now don't have a radio in the shop.
  7. I HAVE BEEN SCROLLING FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS. I HAVE USED SEVERAL TYPES OF WOOD AND 1/8 PLYWOOD IS ALWAYS A PROBLEM. I CAN'T KEEP ON THE LINE, NOT EVEN CLOSE. IKE
  8. Good job- how do I get the pattern for the 3 inch size? IKE
  9. I check all my drill bits with a Electronic Caliper I got from Harbor Freight for $10 and they are off by .0005. When using ply wood I have to drill the 2nd time from the back so the Blade won't hang up. It's matching the Blade with the Drill bit. IKE
  10. Steve Good has a collapse basket on his web site. It's a good starter basket. Look in your local library , I know my library has several. IKE
  11. Welcome Dennis from the south part of OHIO. he only thing about scroll sawing is that you enjoy it. There is no stupid questions .and every body here is willing to answer them. What saw do you have and send pictures. We understand pictures real well, need not say more ;on that subjet. Have fun and share your pictures. IKE from Goshen Ohio ( Clermont county)
  12. welcome John-You will always get an answer here and they are all good some fit your needs better than others. IKE
  13. I HAVE HAD 8 FOR ABOUT 14 MONTHS. I GET ALONG OK WITH IT BUT HAVE TROUBLE OPENING THINGS UP WITH A MOUSE. I HAVE TO RIGHT CLICK ON MOST APPS AND THEN CLICK ON OPEN. AND OTHER THINGS I TRY TO USE AS A 7 AND THAT DOESN'T WORK TOO WELL. I USE TO HATE NOW I JUST DISLIKES IT. IT'S HARD TO TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS. IKE
  14. Welcome Clive. there is a lot here at eh village for all of us, and other places on the internet that you can get patterns for free , Try Steve Good's workshop there is some toys there. I have been doing scrolling for about 20 years off and on and this is the best we site I have found. IKE
  15. Great Job you must be proud. My biggest problem with something like that I don't have room to display it. IKE
  16. I HAVE HAD MY big yellow FOR ABOUT 6 MO AND USE IT ABOUT 5 DAYS A WEEK AND I STILLLOVE IT I didn't get a light with mine. but I have enough light I don't need it and I have yet found a light that really worked well. I use a 2x4 to hold the arm up when changing holes and that works well for me. I have had 4 saws a Dremmell, sears & porter Gable and this is the best. IKE
  17. That cpic. came up while I was typing and It looks good. IKE
  18. welcome Bill. The only thing I have to add is stay away from the blades sold at the big box stores. I recommend either Olson's or flying Dutchman . I prefer Olson's but I will buy flying Dutchman's The cost between these 2 blades and the ones sold at the big Box stores is minimum. Blade tension is very important . Good luck and make lots of saw dust. IKE
  19. I have cut a few pictures and it is fun - Now for anyone going to a craft sale what do you make for a sale .Famous people, scenery culture of what? or do thay not sell at all?

Hi Mac Welcome to the village.. remember that almost all mistakes can be corrected. I said almost All. We all make some firewood sometimes. The hardest part to correct is on circles, that is where your mistakes show up, Keep the tension on the blade tight. Don't worry about getting the blade too tight If you keep breaking blades you have probably got it too tight. I usually get a howler or so out of a blade and Don't buy your blades from big Box stores. I use Olson's or Flying Dutchman's blades they hold up best for me. IKE
  22. The oven pulls I have been making them from my scrap1/4 plywood, selling them for $1.oo ea. but if a person is really interesting in something I will give them one and usually they will buy the item they are looking at When I first started making them I was selling them at the same $1.00. It is really a good cheep item for Craft's sales. I usually IKE give away more than I sell..

HI SKIP. I TOO HAVE BEEN SCROLLING FOR ABLUT 20 YEARS AND JUST JOINED THE VILLAGE A COUPLE MONTH AGO.. I TOO TRIED TO MAKE MY OWN PATTERNS AND FAILED. BUT THERE IS ENOUGH PATTERNS ON THE VILLAGE TO KEEPUS GOING FOR A WHILE. IN 20 YEARS+ I HAVE WENT THRU 4 SAWS A DREMEL A SEARS APORTER WAGNER( STAY AWAY FROM THEM THE ONE I HAD WAS A PIECE OF JUNK. I NOW HAVE A DW 788 WHICH IS A GOOD SAW SO FAR. IKE
  24. I like free wood. My grand son works in a saw mill and I get a lot of cured pieces. I get lots of walnut , cherry , and oak, I also get some pre inspected ash. The only problem is that they are green, I have to let them air dry for a year before I can use them. I just pained down 27 feet of walnut, mostly to 1/2 ' .When I buy wood I usually but popular.. But Free is best
  25. Welcome John. Sorry about your son, I too lost a son and I still think about him every day and that was 20 years ago. Things get better but it is a slow process . You never completely heal from a loss of a child. Good luck and keep on scrolling. IKE
