  3. I worked in the Machine Shop for about 50 years and I now wear hearing aides. The scroll saw don't seem to bother me any. but I guess each person is different. My wife says that they haven't cured my selective hearing. I use the foam ear protection when I go out shooting. I got these aids from the VA so I don't think they are any better than any other aids. 10. I have it I got it in the Machine shop. I have never had surgery It's not that bad, but I use a carpel tunnel brace , and I use the lever that Steve Good has on his Long list of patterns. now it only bothers me if I saw for a long period. I usually take a 1/2 hour brake every couple hours. I have had 3 operations for cancer and not ready for a nother one.I had a check up on the 21st and am cancer free now. IKE
  11. when I bought the DW 788 I mounted it on rubber pads. I did that with all my scroll saws before I ever turned one on. It softens up any vibrations it may have. IKE
  12. wishing you all a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
  13. and a merry christmas to you also

  15. My year has not been up to par, every show this year has had bad weather except for the one on Dec.8, it's been rain also which slowed Downy the attendance. but I did come out $500 profit. I use ally have a profit of about $1000. no complaisance because this is a hobby. and nest year wil be better. IKE
  16. When i cut fretwork I wouldn't consider blue painter tape. I have made shelves with 250 to 300 holes in them .Blue tape is a big pain removing on that type work so I use re positional spray glue directly on the paper , in fact I use it most of the time. I use mineral spirits to remove the pattern It's a lot easier IKE
  17. If you have never used a Scroll saw before I don't think I would go for the top end saws, yow may not like scrolling or might not be able to do it I have some friends who tired it and didn't like it. they say that the porter cable is a good starter saw at $300 I had one and returned it after a week. didn't like the chaining of the blade. I had two Dewalt's 788 one used and one new Both were worn out with in 2 years and the cost was too high to repair. The new one was in the shop within 6 months the electronics went out on it and the service was rotten, so This time I B bought a Delta for $400 and ran it all summer with no problems and it has a 5 year Werrenty The delta is not a digressive as the Dewalt. so it takes a little longer to cut a project. IKE
  18. Today I had the last show of the year The first hour I sold $100 I thought this was going to be a great show but then It started to rain real hard and sales doped of to $10 he second hour. All in all by the time the show was over I had $235 in sales I sold a lot of $4 ordainment and letter holders and a few dog puzzles. they day was a disappointment to the way it started but not a bad day at all. IKE

  20. free wood is great, good neighbor.
  21. nope
  22. sanding fret work, if it needs sanding I use a sanding mop . a 6 inch style that I made it works real well . There is a a you tube that tells how to make one. use cloth back emery . I have a 150 grit because it is what I had. it cost about $16 to make but last for years.A new one will cost $15 to $30 if you buy one you would want one 5 to 6 inch one much smaller than that is too stiff. IKE
  23. Glad to hear that you are now on your way to being self sufficient I have now just became sufficient for this year. I now have about #299 dollars left over but that won't last long. But this is a hobby and If I don't break even that's all right . It useallly takes about 3 craft sails per year to do it. IKE
  24. I sell mostly at craft shows. I tried some on line selling but didn't care for it. I do ell some at home nothing formal just by word of mouth. This is just a hobby and my main interest in selling is to support my hobby this year my income is above above expenses by $300. IKE
