  5. Sully, The middle frame is poplar and the other two are spalted maple with lots of insect damage. All are old tobacco sticks which I run through the planer. Don R
  6. Thanks for all of the comments and opinions they are appreciated. Barb, good idea to use a photo of water, I had never thought of that. I used black on two of them and brown on the third, then framed them using tobacco sticks for the rustic look. Here is how they came out. Over all I think I am pleased with the results. I may go back and try Barb's water idea. Don R

  14. Completed cutting this one today as a request from my wife who is an organizer for a political party here in Tennessee. It is from a photograph of Byrds Creek Dam in Crossville TN and is a sort of iconic local view. I plan on framing it with maple or oak tobacco sticks The cuttings are to be donated as a door prize for their annual picnic. The problem is, I am not 100% sure that I like it or what color the backer should be. I have tried both black and blue and have attached pictures. What do you think? Comments pro and con are encouraged. Thanks Don R
