Nice job! I like the frame, the pattern and the overall result. Don R
  3. In the last few days I tore down my Delta saw and replaced a bunch of bearings and greased the ones I didn't replace. It was kinda fun and I learned a lot about the mechanics of a scroll saw. Now it works much better with very little sound and no vibration. To give it a test run, I cut this Golden Falcon portrait from 1/8 inch BB stacked 4 thick. About 186 holes and about 3 1/2 hours cutting time. Finished with Golden Oak stain and Minwax spray poly. The pattern is mine and is available here http://oldcrowscrollwerks.weebly.com/store/p388/Golden_Falcon_Pattern.html Don R
  4. Very nicely done, Dick Don R

  6. It's a nice pattern so I took the liberty of taking out the floaters. Hope the designer doesn't mind! Here it is fixed up. Don R
  7. The yellow jackets that we have nest underground and they are very nasty and aggressive. If you find the hole, wait until dusk, squirt a little Delta Dust in the hole, cover it with a rock and no more Yellowjackets, at least from that hole. Don R
  8. I found and solved the problem. With advice from Hotshot (Randy) on the other forum, I found this video The video is a must watch if you own a Delta or DeWalt. The problem was that the needle bearings located at the end of the motor shaft were lacking grease. One of them had old, crusty grease and the other had no evidence of ever being greased. After greasing the bearings the machine is very quiet at speeds below 6 and still has a little noise and vibration at top speed. The video provides a source for the bearings and they are very inexpensive ($21 for three kits). I have ordered the bearings so that I can replace them when they do fail which I expect to happen eventually since they have run for so long without grease. If you own a Delta or DeWalt you really should watch the video Don R
  9. Thanks for the tip. I have emailed Rick and will let you know what the outcome is. I agree there is something really goofy here and very frustrating especially when the closest repair shop is a 50 or 60 mile round trip. Don R
  10. A couple of years ago, I purchased a Delta 40-690 scroll saw which worked fine for about one year. Then it developed a really loud knocking and banging and vibration. It was repaired, under warranty by Delta but very soon after developed the same problems. Again it was repaired under warranty but developed the same problems again. Then eventually the motor stopped working. At this point Delta replaced the machine, under warranty with a newer model, Model 40-695. This lasted a couple of months then developed the same problem as the 690. Again it was repaired by Delta under warranty but this time it lasted about 1 week now it is knocking, banging and vibrating again. Now Delta are not returning my calls. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems with Delta machines and if so, how were the problems resolved. Thanks for any help or advice. Don R
  11. I like Butcher Block finish or Tung Oil. Don R
  12. Thanks to Mahendra and Paul for helping me with a difficult picture. Thanks to them the pattern turned out great. Stack cut from 1/8 inch BB using FD Spiral blade #1. Finished with Minwax spray polyurethane. Still have to frame it. Don R
  13. Well done, Mark. Thanks for sharing and thanks for cutting my patterns. Don R
  14. Nice tribute, Luis. Thanks for sharing. Don R
  15. Very nice, Marg! Thanks for the plug. Don R
  16. When I cut thin BB I use FD Spiral blades # 1 and/or #3 at about 75% speed. I stack cut at least 3 at a time. Works for me. Don R

  18. Nice work, Dennis!! Don R
  19. Another wrinkle, if you click around that site, this will come up. He is actually selling patterns, I wonder who's??? Don R
  20. I don't think it is a witch hunt but I believe it is very wrong to post anothers patterns without getting permission from the owner of the pattern or giving the customary accreditation. This guy took patterns from free4all, removed some of the signatures and posted them as free patterns "posted by admin. In my humble opinion, it would have been common decency to ask the designer of the pattern for permission to post and included accreditation. If he had posted any of mine I would have been pissed!! 21. One is Mahendra's. (the Samurai) Don R
  22. Great cutting and framing job, Thomas. Is the pattern yours? Don R
  23. He is a member of this site. Look him up on www.whois.com Don R
  24. I think it is OK to post the link, but regardless, I would like to see it. Don R
  25. I use Deft spray lacquer and Minwax spray polyurethane. I never clean the nozzles and I have never had a problem with them plugging. Maybe I'm just lucky? Don R
