  4. I guess I'm better at cutting then designing and I need your help, I lost my daughter last year due to an overdose on drugs and tomorrow is her anniversary of her passing I would really like to do a portrait of her in her memory for her son she left behind I only have this picture of her and I hope some of you talented designers can do something with it as I'm not getting anywhere yet with gimp. Thanking you in advance. .../Hans

  7. Roly He's on facebook and runs another facebook group but its closed so you have to befriend him first to get in but you can look at his page his copy of this car is on there. Oh he only speaks spanish, his page and the group is all spanish I'm so fortunate I speak 4 languages.
  8. No it was Designed by Sam Marquez its about 30" long and about a foot tall and even the steering works from the steering Wheel its a nice show piece I didn't bother with the doors to open its just to fragile.
  9. I've been working on this baby for a while now and were just in the finishing stages, just a little glueing and fine tuning the steering and look for a new project.
  10. I have used a lot of different Shoe polishes very successfully I may ad but if your going to glue anything on top of it you'll have to use liquid polish but for a finish I use a paste and polish it Stains and all that fancy stuff just isn't available to me here I think I'm the only scrol saw artist in the whole city of 1 million the next one to me is in Mexico city.
  11. You just can't fix stupid, stupidity should be painful, but maybe before it happens
  12. John I've also noticed that you have to push them a bit harder which is why they get hard to control A spiral blade should not be pushed at all merely steered in the direction you want it to cut, of course there is always going to be some pressure on it but you'll find the less the better, one other thing I've noticed is there will be a lot more fuzzies when your blade gets dull as its not cutting clean. So these are some things to look for and if I may quote Pete they are only 30 cents a piece throw them away. Why are you using spirals John? not that there is anything wrong with it but when you first learn you generally start with straight blades so much easier. Not criticizing your decision I was only curious maybe some of the other member could comment on this I personally find it strange. All the best John with your new hobby and keep the questions comming .../Hans
  13. it looks hard Rusty but its one hole at the time no matter big or small
  14. Its a facebook page and it translates if you do the settings correctly
  15. I was thinking of re writing it to pertain to scroll sawyers but then I got to the lipstick part and decided that maybe some of us in the group may agree but the majority wouldn't
  16. Thanks for the compliments I'm really glad I've made a difference in your way of approaching the art of scroll sawing. The way I look at my larger cuts is there are 10 bunnies or 15 kittens in one of mine and the other difference is are you doing it to make money or is it a hobby? For me its strictly a hobby I have sold very few pieces and its not that people haven't asked to buy pieces. I used to own a store where I sold all my woodwork's and found it just doesn't pay as you just can't please everyone and my hobby became a job, I no longer enjoyed what I did and gave it up for many years. Now I'm back and swore I would never allow anyone to turn my hobby into a job again. So anyway if your doing it for the money I suggest to stay cutting small stuff as there is no money in the big stuff. but a lot more satisfaction. http://www.chudo-lob...va-bashnya.html Here is the site recommended by a lot of good scrollers I hope its worthy. Good luck Dick
  17. Hi Danny thanks for the positive feed back your not going to believe this but I'm not going to give you this pattern as it was no good Kevin and I had the same problems with it after you cut the whole thing it didn't go together very disappointed but I've been around the block a few times and cut my own tabs and in some cases cut the tabs right off and clued it together. So I did some checking around and this guy has good patterns according to the Egyptians scrollers and they are the best in the world in my book I download a lot of theirs its easy as there are no copy right issues to worry about check out some of their pages if you like intricate scroll sawing anyway this is where you'll find this guys pattern I hope it works for you just make sure before you cut you check and make sure things are going together or make the changes you need http://www.chudo-lobzik.ru/chertezhi-podelok/chertezh-podelki-ejfeleva-bashnya.html Good luck if you need any help give me a shout.
  18. Yes I know the feeling Kevin I've done the same if it really makes someone that happy who am I to deprive them after all I don't scroll for a living and I've had my fun making it so let someone else enjoy it Hats off to you sir for giving that one away but like you said it wasn't perfect so you keep seeing the flaws that only you know are there. We are our own worst critics for sure, mine came out perfect although I had to alter it in some fashion. Well have a nice day Kevin I'm working on a car right now 30" long about 12" high complete with working steering I think I'll be another week or so as this is one that I need to paint to really make it stand out.\
  19. Great work Roly I have a wiener dog that loves to catch mice she would love those for sure
  20. A star is born and you're it WOW I thought I was crazy for doing repetitious work you really need to find a hobby Kevin but I'm glad to see you haven't lost your touch after 5 months
  21. Thanks Marg, nope it wasn't the hardest thing I cut it was actually fairly simple just a lot of cuts and a bad pattern design none of the pieces fit together I had to either make new tabs or cut the tabs off altogether and just glue it instead but I down loaded the pattern of some Egyptian site with out instruction and free (you get what you pay for) but as for the cut it was fun. I rather cut 1 large item then 50 bunnies so it all balances it self out there is no more patients required.
  22. 22" tall and about 6" at the base roughly 2000 cuts
  23. Kevin sounds like we did the same one nothing fit I made new tabs to fit some and others I cut the tabs off all together and just glued it together but it was a nightmare but still a fun project. mine is 22" tall also. Thank you as always your words are to kind.
  24. very nicely finished they look like they are really rusting away, well done
