  1. looks really good. I have yet to cut this one but it is on my 'to do' list. Thanks for the reminder and for posting your project for all of us to enjoy too Dick heppnerguy
  2. good for you.. I know you can do it Dick heppnerguy
  3. I do understand. I will be 80 in April so I can relate. I am lucky with my hearing because if there are no noises like in a moving car or in a rather large crowd of people, I can understand most of what is being said, most of the time. I do have a good pair of hearing aids but they do bother me some as some noise is like ear shattering so I do not wear them most of the time. I found that the word signs were really easy to learn even with out hearing them and was wondering why you had not bothered to learn how to do them. I figured that you probably had not bothered to look them up. I have helped several people to understand Inkscape enough to get them started in pattern making and most have gone on to become pretty good pattern makers themselves. I know the basics and have made several patterns that I thought were pretty good but I do not have enough 'stick to it' to advance my own knowledge much. Thanks for your reply, I just thought it would be helpful if you tool a few minutes to understand how easy it is to learn this simple pattern making technique. Dick heppnerguy
  4. I like a lot of Sam Custodio patterns. I was planning on meeting him last year as I traveled from Heppner, Oregon back home in Arizona but my timing was a little off as he had a hunting trip planned for the day I was to go through Grants Pass. Nice job on this illusion pattern. Dick heppnerguy
  5. A couple of very interesting and well done projects Dick heppnerguy
  6. cute project. Sometimes the signs just say the perfect thing. If you knew me better you would also know that I fit this sign way to well. Ask Scrappile if you don't believe me Dick heppnerguy
  7. Kevin. I also like these scroll baskets. they are so easy to cut and so impressive to look at. I have made quite a bit also. In fact it was a scroll basket that I saw on Steve Good's site several years ago that really got me interested in scrolling. Keep up the good work and who knows, maybe this post enthused someone out there to start scrolling too Dick heppnerguy
  8. The backer board really sets this off. A nice touch and the final results is something you should be proud to show off all the time Dick heppnerguy
  9. Excellent piece. This is an over the top item for his one of a kind BBQ. He will proudly be showing off this piece at his home cook outs for sure Dick heppnerguy
  10. From all the nice comments you received on this cutting. it is quite obvious that it made many people stand up and take notice. It is a really nice pattern and you worked your magic on it. A standing ovation from me to you. Dick heppnerguy
  11. I too see how well you have cut this pattern and I have to feel a little of the thankfulness you feel for your eye doctor as being without good sight would be a really terrible thing to loose. My question to you is.... Why do you not make these sign patterns yourself? Travis has a good tutorial on making them and with only about 15 minutes of watching his video and making a couple of them yourself, you can knock these out in about 10 minutes each. They are that easy to make. Just a thought Dick heppnerguy
  12. Welcome from the SouthEastern part of the U.S. It is still in the 90's Here in Southern Arizona. You have found a really good, friendly and helpful site where people are here to love and share their talents and see what others are doing in the scrolling world. I almost always say... log on often so we can get to know you better and you us. We haven't been known to bite anyone for years, now. So don't be afraid to log on often Dick heppnerguy
  13. Welcome to The Village. Always happy when I see someone new log on. I hope you will find this an interesting, helpful and fun site and causes you to log on often. If you do, I promise you that in a short time you will have many new friends and find yourself advancing in your new skill from the help you will receive here, if only you ask. Be sure and check everything offered here and again you will be glad you took the time to do so. The biggest help I believe that new scrollers learn, is to use the correct blades. Blades are kind of like cars or food, in as much as everyone seems to have their own favorite ones. But buy you blades on line and not in the big box stores as they do not carry the ones you will need. Ask if you need more help finding where and what to buy in the way of blades. Dick heppnerguy
  14. I think it took his hair addition to bring out who he was. The alligator in the picture is a perfect selection to help bring out a few memories of him. Great likeness. Thanks for posting. I think you brought to surface a lot of interest Dick heppnerguy
  15. Those ornaments will make a big hit, I bet. Everyone will wonder why there is not more of them so that they could have one of each on their tree. You are contributing something really special that can not be found anywhere else. Nice touch and fun selection Dick heppnerguy
  16. Look at all the confusion I caused with my lack of paying attention. It is 'The Butterfly Effect' in the making. Dick heppnerguy
  17. Sorry Dan.. Roly did the same thing with one of my posts and now here I go showing off my lack of attention and leaving others to get even. Dick heppnerguy
