  1. Brad, glad to hear about your progress. Things were pretty bleak when we talked on the phone. We have continued to pray for a full recovery for you, since we chatted. I am glad you are able to get back into the shop, that has to feel good and also a good confirmation that you are making progress. Hang in there and go slowly at first.. You don't want to end up back in the hospital like Amazing Kevin did when he over did things, awhile back Dick heppnerguy
  2. Welcome from sunny and warm Arizona. You have the right idea about learning the saw with some practice patterns. It should give you a good way to get to know your saw. Blades are the most important part in gaining confidence and success with your new venture. So glad you chose our site to join up with. Once you start knocking out some scroll pieces you will find that you will be amazed at how well you can do with it. Scrolling is a continual education. One never gets to a place where he or she knows everything there is to know about this subject. That is the part that I enjoy because it keeps one humble. Just have fun. Explore all the corners of this site and most of all ,,, log on often so everyone can know more about each other. I guarantee that you will be glad you did that, Dick heppnerguy
  3. I like this piece and the way you have your wife's photo in this gives it a real romantic look. Dick heppnerguy
  4. I have to say, Paul, that the very top and very bottom, middle lacey looking parts in the center, certainly look black in the photo. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Not sure what to say about this one...... Not too bad for an old blind guy. I really like the added black parts, it really helps to make it stand out better. Looks like the backer board stain worked out well. Another great piece by the infamous Scrappile Dick heppnerguy
  6. Alex.... I do not know how one man can have so much talent and there seems to be none left over for some of us non talented people. Actually, I am happy that you have so much talent and you give the rest of us a way to obtain the benefits of yours. Very nice piece. I have found yours things very interesting and intriguing. My wife loved the bowl I made for her from your pattern. Dick heppnerguy
  7. I gave my wife one of her Mother's Day gifts early also.. I love to watch her open things I make just for her because I love her. I bet that is the reason you gave your wife that nice sign. What language is it in? Dick heppnerguy
  8. Pricing I think is all up to you. Everyone has their own way to price things. I believe we soon learn if our prices are where they should be and when we need to raise or lower them. I would put out the prices you are thinking about and watch and see what happens. If they sell really quickly, perhaps they could go up a tad and the other way around if they just sit and gather some dust. Dick heppnerguy
  9. wonderful word art projects. The creativity and your cuttings are well liked by all. that is really apparent by the posts here.. Congratulations on a job well done Dick heppnerguy
  10. All of these are eye catchers. You did a great job with the cuttings as well as the patterns. Great ideas.. I too especially like the saw piece Dick heppnerguy
  11. Some how I think she is already aware of you using it. How else can you explain to her how it got that look, if you had to use HER COOKING IRON? You convicted yourself when you showed her your nice new project. I hope the night air is warm where you live, at least the dog didn't complain when you put up it's new home, and now you come and take it over Hey, nice, fun item Dick heppnerguy
  12. Very nicely done.. I guess I will have to put this one on my to do list. You nailed this one Dick heppnerguy
  13. Nice... you did a right fine job on this one, so they say in the South, I believe Dick heppnerguy

    Hi!

Hello and welcome. Once you get this figured out, you will be so glad you started scrolling. Make sure your saw blade is not touching the wood when you turn on your saw. That might make it bind up, also. I am not familiar with your saw so if you post of photo of it , perhaps we can help you a little better to solve your problem. What kind and thickness is your wood and do you know the size of your blade? Don't give up, this will not be a problem very long, once we know these facts above. Good Luck Dick heppnerguy
  15. Welcome George to The Village. So glad you decided to join our family of scrollers. You will quickly understand, ( if you log on often) that we are a group of friendly and happy people who love to get on here and share our work and ideas with everyone else. I live in Casa Grande, Arizona, which is between Phoenix and Tucson. My winter neighbor is also B.C. Show us some of your work when you get a chance. We love just about everything to do with wood working Dick heppnerguy
  16. A great idea to use that pattern for new births. How could anything else say so much without a word? Dick heppnerguy
  17. Your work always drips with confidence.. Nicely done, once more Dick heppnerguy
  18. I love the creativity here. A one of a kind,,,,,, at least until now Dick heppnerguy
  19. Nicely done. This will most certainly be cherished for a long time to come Dick heppnerguy
  20. Kris, You certainly have the pattern making down to a science.. Hoping that one day I will be able to make a pattern of anything I wish.. Looks a long way off for me...very good pattern. I love the challenge your patterns present the cutter. Dick heppnerguy
  21. nice pieces. The rose is an interesting pattern that I do believe I have seen before. A backer board on the rose might take away some of it's delict look, in my opinion. I probably would have made a backer board for it, if I was cutting it, but I think is looks better without one Dick heppnerguy
  22. I love these.. We had a guy in Heppner, Oregon that made little crosses and he handed them out to people he thought could use a little comfort or congratulations for a personal thing they had done that meant something special to someone else and invited them to pass it on to someone else they thought might need one. He did that for years and they were so loved and appreciated. He died a couple of years ago but left a nice legacy for it crosses that will be remembered for a long time to come.. I think I will start to do this with these little angels too. Thank you for taking the time to post these and enthuse me . Dick heppnerguy
  23. Marg. you did a really nice job with this. I usually do not care for painted scrolling but I think this time your efforts paid off big time. It is outstanding Dick heppnerguy
  24. You are right about it being a Sue Mey pattern and it is one of her free patterns, as well Dick heppnerguy
  25. then you can always paint and glue them together with the backer board a little larger all the way around and use the router bit that copies the one above. It has a roller bearing and a straight bit that cuts thing identical to the one above. Sorry I can not remember the name of the bit. but if someone else sees this, I bet they can tell you Dick heppnerguy
