  2. Nice purchase. It will be interesting to see how your vibration test turns out Dick heppnerguy
  3. Jerry, I went back and took another look at your piece and it drummed up a question for you..........It Jesus woodburned on the wood and and words scrolled ? Just curious Dick heppnerguy
  4. a very nice piece. This will please the pastor for sure, as well as the entire congregration. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Dave, All of these are very nice. I can see why they would do well for you. Your work has always been top notch from the beginning. I always enjoy every piece you make and post.. Dick heppnerguy
  6. One thing I found through the years that makes a big difference with patterns staying on the surface when cutting. I always sand my wood with 220 grit paper on my orbital sander. It matters not how well it comes presanded, then I wipe the wood with a clean rag, followed by the palm of my hand. After that, and only after that process, I aply my pattern directly to the wood. Even with very small and close fret work, I do not have pattern lift. I also used to use blue painters tape for years but I no longer find it necessary and the remaining pattern pieces almost fall off by theirselves with a little mineral spirits. I buy my spray on adhesive from Harbor Freight and I know what a lot of people think about Harbor Freight products, but in this case they carry a very well known brand,(CRC) and it usually sells for under $10 for a large can. 7. Don R. I agree with fastfreddie's post. I think a lot of people would appreciate it if you could post how many of each bearing one would need to replace all the bearings in thier saw. That is, if you know that info Dick heppnerguy
  8. I saw a gal with a booth filled with intarsia dogs and I could not believe how beautiful they were and wished I could do something like that. A little over ten years ago I moved and all I had was a 16 X 16 foot shop and thought about that booth of dogs so many years ago. I got on my computer and found a sight that sold intarsia patterns. I then proceeded to look at videos on YouTube. After sort of getting the idea, I drew myself a simple pattern and used my bandsaw to cut it out. After a lot of sanding I discovered to my surprise, that I could do it. After a few years of making intarsia pieces, I saw a little wooden basket that looked like it was woven and could not believe that it was cut on a scroll saw. I down loaded the pattern fron Steve Goods sight and fell in love with scrolling. That is my story Welcome the The village. Truly a fun place to be Dick heppnerguy

  10. Welcome to our world wide family. THE VILLAGE is filled with every skill leveled people in scrolling. But no one has all the answers to every question as scrolling is an ever learning hobby. But feel free to ask any question you may have and be sure and chime in with any answers you may have for someone else. The important thing is to come back often so we can all get to know you. So glad you decided to join our community Dick heppnerguy
  11. Ewelcome aboard you will soon discover that not only are there a large variety of skill levels here but the people here are all fun and everyone feels like family. 12. Cliff, You did your clock perfectly, That is the very reason that I even had to make one. I had seen this clock before but yours stood out to me when I first layed eyes on it. I did not post it as a comparison of your work and mine not did I post it to show mine off, but rather to point out to you and others, that a post of ones work, may just be what is needed to inspire others to try that pattern too. One thing I like about scrolling is that every piece is a little different from another because wood it of nature and no two pieces of wood are the same. The color and grain patterns vary in each piece and hence everyone one is unique. Thank you Cliff for inspiring me. I had fun making it.. I like the way you used the little flags on yours and I probably would have done that too but I decided to see what it was like without changing anything about the pattern, when I cut it. Keep up the good work, my friend and keep inspiring me. Dick heppnerguy
  13. Cliff posted a Steve Good pattern that he cut and I liked it so much that I wanted to cut one also, for myself. So a couple of days ago, I took some of the Alter wood that my grandson gave me from his cabinet shop and made one. I missed the pattern on Steve's site but was so glad that Cliff made one and posted it. I usually do not post something I make that I see others already have made and posted but this time I decided to do that to show Cliff how ones posts can influence others. Thanks again for your post. I enjoyed cutting it Dick heppnerguy
  14. Nice job Marg. American icon on American wood, starting yet another tour in Australia... Sorry couldn't resist being a little crazy. I like your piece a lot. Sure is a great likeness of 'Old blue eyes" Dick heppnerguy
  15. That is a fabric backer.. sort of a burlap looking thing..I bought the frame at a garage sale for 25 cents and thought i would use it for this one Dick heppnerguy
  16. Dave, You continue to amaze me with how well you have developed your talents in such a short time. Your self portrait is really well done I guess all I can say is you are a natural Dick heppnerguy
  17. Len, I won't keep it if I can find someone interested in it Dick heppnerguy
  18. I was looking for something a little different to cut and I explored some free paper cutting patterns and found this one. The pattern I liked was way too small to really use so I made this one on Inkscape and cut it, yesterday. I liked it because it was really an unusual sort of pattern that I would normally choose to cut and I found that I actually was okay with it. Exploring new ideas, for me is a new thing as I don't usually look outside of the box, so to speak and it is about time I open up some Dick heppnerguy
  19. Cute piece I have to agree with the colorization of this piece as it does make it stand out much better. Sometimes the contrasts is needed, as was the case here. Love you work Dick heppnerguy
  20. I have to admit, the first time I saw these little bird houses, in did not care much for them. I understand that everyone has different likes and dislikes. I miss a lot because of my own quick judgements on things. I Have found as time goes along, my mind is finally showing me that I need to take a closer look at things and I am starting to understand how I am restricting only myself when I do that. As I look at your cute bird houses, I understand how wrong I am to be so quick to decide against making something. You have helped me to see my own shortsightedness. I really like your miniature pieces Dick heppnerguy
  21. I have to add this is one of the most outstanding projects I can remember seeing in a long time. Your talent is certainly apparent in this piece can't wait to see what you come up with in future posts. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Cliff, I have been without my internet for a couple of weeks and did not get to the ' introductions, part of the forum, so first of all I a Want to welcome you to the SSV and say I am really glad you chose to join us all here. Second, I want to agree with you about Steve Good and add that many got their start as a result of all the free patterns and videos that Steve has made and so generously given to all that wish to have them. I am astounded by his imagination and creativity. Now for your contribution.........your clock is a truly striking, ( no pun intended). I really like the nice piece you turned out here. It is so nice to find out what you can do with a scroll saw, once one gives it a try. I too will have to make one of these clocks, now that I see how nice yours came out. I expect I will be seeing quite a few more great items coming from your posts in the near future. You have a great future in your immediate future. Keep up the wonderful work and make sure you log on often so we all can get to know you better Dick heppnerguy
  23. Dan, you are the. Man of the hour, in my book. I love your pieces and the originality of your pieces too. Dick heppnerguy
  24. Not what I was expecting to see when I opened this link. I was thinking it was going to be a Steve Good pattern cut and not an original design like this one. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this post. Not that I do not like Steve Good's patterns, because I do and use them a lot, myself, but the ones that come up their own designs, add to the possibilities for more pattern thought for everyone. NICE JOB. I like what I am seeing for several reasons. Dick heppnerguy
  25. Denny, I believe it was from one of Sue Mey's ebooks. Not really sure though. My computer is packed away so I have no way to check it out for sure. If you would fealty like to know, tell me and I will get that info to you when I have my computer up and running again Dick heppnerguy
