  1. I have not posted much because we have had a lot of company and hence, not much Shop time. I did get a chance to get the rest of the items finished for my donations to the fund raiser that my daughter is doing. She will have 5 events this summer and I will be donate to each according to what she finds is helping her the most. We have a niece staying with us and I got her on my scroll saw where she made two pieces herself and I made one piece for her, that she wanted to buy but I told her I do not charge my family for things unless they are wanting it for a gift.
  2. Dave, I think your price guess is a good one, but your idea with this wood art is "GREAT". I get pretty bored seeing word art without imagination. It does not take much to make a word art pattern and cut it. It is nothing like creating a portrait pattern. I believe a person new to scrolling can learn to make a word art sign in 20 minutes, but giving it character, like you have done, makes the word art a pleasure to look at. One can make 15 word art patterns in a half day, but that is what they are, 'words'. I know people like their names in wood but coming up with something interesting and new is where 'art' comes in. Nice piece, good luck on your sales. Dick heppnerguy
  3. This is one of the best places to hang out. I would never want to see it go down, that is for sure Dick heppnerguy
  4. The spiral blade seems to be a lot like liver......either you love them or you hate them. Sporal blades can make cutting some patterns a lot easier. but the flat blade is easier to control and manage, at least for most scrollers. I have been scrolling for a number of years and have never liked the spiral but this years I decided to take the plunge and i have been trying to use the spiral more. It is starting to get easier for me but I still am not very comfortable with them yet. The main thing is to have fun.. Stay atteched here and you will find many helpful people here to help you with any questions you may have.. Keep up the good work and don't tackle anything too difficult at first. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Once you start scrolling a little more you probably will get hooked on it andwonder why you held yourself back. It is a very relaxing thing to do and it gives one a chance to produce something quickly that everyone seems to enjoy, and best of all ,it does not take a lot of money, as so many other woodworking hobbies do. So have fun with that scroll saw and start to amaze yourself with how well you can do on it Dick heppnerguy
  6. Glad you are with us now. I too have an RBI that I bought at an estate sale to the steal price of $65. I know, one does not run across that kind of a deal very often. I hope to see you logging on often so all of us can get to know you better Dick heppnerguy
  7. Tim, You are very welcome to mosey about all the nooks and crannies and try to find all the interesting things hidden from the usual brouser type person. it is up to you about how quickly we all get aquainted as we can only get to know each other when you log in and reply to, or make posts. Glad you are with us. Dick heppnerguy
  8. I too would like to chime in and welcome you to our friendly world wide family. I hope to see you here often Dick heppnerguy
  9. that is truly a steal. I think you will find this to be a great saw. It is almost vibration free and it is built really well. enjoy it for a long time to come Dick heppnerguy
  10. why do i not feel I need my table to be more slick? I have never felt a need to do anything to my saw table. The wood seems to be very controlable to me, as it is. Am I way off base? Dick heppnerguy
  11. Sometimes, one needs to change blades more often then once every three years, then no breakage should occure. Might I suggest you just retire your blades every New Years when you are changing the batteries in you fire alarm Dick heppnerguy
  12. Looks normal to me.. A person loving his shop time, it reminds of of the wife who finally gets tired of her husband always watching sports on TV every weekend and finally jumps in front of the tv and asks, Do you love me of football, the most. After a long pause , he replies, I love you more than hockey Dick Heppnerguy
  13. Dan, you are one creative guy. I enjoy all your work a lot Dick heppnerguy
  14. Nothing second rate ever comes from your shop. This is a real nice touch for your darts. I guess you say it is right on the bullseye Dick heppnerguy
  15. I agree with you. Not sure exactly how things will end up until they are finished. Still trying to learn. Thank you for your input. That is what I am after. People do not want to sound critical of others works here, but only encouraging and that is a good thing but sometimes one learns from criticism and hints from others and that is good when taken in the right light. Dick heppnerguy
  16. I love everything you do. It's no wonder that you are a woodworking teacher. I too enjoy the find job your did with your colorizations. It adds a lot to your already wonderful work. Dick heppnerguy

    Car

One horse power, cute adaptation. Nice little wooden car, looks great Dick heppnerguy
  18. Take another look, Len. It is a woman's hat. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Here is another Sue Mey pattern from one of her e books. It is a stand alone word piece but it does have a little something that gives it some interest and not just a name. Dick heppnerguy
  20. I am still trying my air brush. I need the practice but i want to be careful to not put too much colorization into what I am doing.. Let me know if you think that is the case here. I tend to get carried away when i am learning something new. so says my wife. Dick heppnerguy
  21. A nice assortment of birds, displayed in a really great way. I love the variety or woods you used to mount them on too Dick heppnerguy
  22. Nice to see your project done so well.. It is easy to see why you are happy with it. It turned out very nicely. Thanks for posting Dick heppnerguy
  23. I love your creativity here. Take something and do more with it. Perfect.. I wish the word art designers would do something more with their talents than just make word signs. They get a little boring. Adding something of interest to them, makes them interesting. Yours is not only interesting but very useful at the same time..Nice Job Dick heppnerguy
  24. I own a Hawk 220 vs. I got mine at an estate sale and it was a steal. I will not tell you what i paid for mine because that is never going to happen again. Most of the used Hawks that I see on craigslist or other sites run from $300 to $700. These are pretty high end machines and seem to be very dependable. Mine is probably older than the one you are looking at because it takes an allen wrench to tighten and release the blades. I do not like that part about my saw. It looks like this one has a thumb screw although I can not really tell for sure. I believe these saws sell new for about $1400, although I have not priced one for a long time. I would pay $300- $400, if I was in the market for one. They are very smooth and they also have a longer stroke than any other machine I know of. I hope this might help you some. Dick heppnerguy
