  1. I posted this heart shaped plaque I made for my wife and a couple of people suggested that they should be a box instead of a plaque. So my wife's best friend has a birthday tomorrow and she suggested that I make her a box for her birthday so I decided to do one from the heart pattern and this is how it turned out Dick heppnerguy
  2. It is outstanding with the use of the two colors of wood being used here. Having the symbols in a darker color make them really stand out Dick heppnerguy
  3. I really like this one. As you may or may not know, I too have been trying to colorize some of my pieces too. For many of the scrolling patterns, I believe it is a nice addition to many of them. You certainly proved it with this one. Dick heppnerguy
  4. Wince sign, Roly. The colorization makes it pop. A cool piece Dick heppnerguy
  5. Very creative, Dave. Your work is always outstanding. I continue to look forward to your posts and see what you have come up with next Dick heppnerguy
  6. Extremely nice. Your work and persistence certainly paid off. I can not imagine putting that kind of work into something,as I am always rushed to get a piece finished but when I see a piece like yours I begin to understand that the finishing time is worth it. Now to get myself to just remember this as I get near the end of my next piece. You are a true craftsmen Dick heppnerguy
  7. I just wanted to say, I really enjoy the ciao paint job you did on your plaque. It has added a lot to this piece Dick heppnerguy
  8. Last week I was in Phoenix, Arizona, helping with the move there of my son and his wife. While there I was hoping to get the chance to meet one of our new Village members. We did find a time to get together 2days before I had to leave for Heppner. I was really lucky as he had his 2 children with him too. This time I made sure to get a couple of photos to share with all of you. Oh, the guy I met was Loren Austin. He his a new scroller and has only been on SSV for about two months. I have been amazed at his skills and the beautiful pieces he has been making. I helped him with Inkscape and a few other questions. We have talked several times on the phone and text each other several times too. Here are the photos of us and his kids. As you can see, his kids were a lot of fun and I was really glad he brought them. Such fun and delightful kids Dick heppnerguy
  9. I would suggest a personal message to Jim Flinn. He is an expert on inlays. He also is a very helpful and nice guy. Dick Heppnerguy
  10. When I need to increase of decrease a pattern, I simply open it on Inkscape, put my dimensions on inches and drag the corner of the pattern until is fits the inches I want. Seems like an easy solution to me but percentage I have never worried about.. Now I know how to figure it, should I need to, because of the question and answers above Dick heppnerguy
  11. I just got back from a week in Ariizona, helping to move my son and daughter. Yesterday was the first time I was able to get on the computer and of course, SSV was my first shot. WHAT THE HECK, I thought. I went to the Ipad to see if it was just my computer and I found the same thing. My thought was, "what did I do wrong that got me kicked off my favorite web site?" I thought the other option was that you closed your site. I really did not want to see that happen. It would be. 'loosing an entire family" for many of us. sorry for the tough and time labor Travis had to go through for all of us, but really glad we have him and his dedication and talents to keep us all in touch with one another. It is a great day, seeing SSV back on line Dick heppnerguy
  12. Nicely done, I like the idea you used for the plaque and I think i will take a photo of it so that I can keep in mind, some ideas for military retirement too. Thanks for honoring our vets, especially the ones that put taht many years of service. Glad you posted this, I looks really great Dick heppnerguy
  13. Marg, Several people suggested or liked your quote suggesting that I make these into boxes. i asked my wife about that, this morning and she really liked that idea, so I think I just might do that. I am traeling to Arizona for a week, starting on Sunday and after that we are having our entire house installed with new carpeting, so it will some time after that, that i tackle the new box. Thank you for the suggestion, I think they will make nice little boxes too Dick heppnerguy
  14. I did look rather delicate but it was an easy cut. I liked fret work a lot and when I see a rather easy one but it still looks like it was a lot of work, I like to cut them. the size I made these are 8 X 7 inches. Dick heppnerguy
  15. I did indeed, stack cut them. I used 1/8 inch BB ply so stacking cutting them made it an easy cut. Thanks for the nice comment. Dick heppnerguy
  16. I had this pattern in my library and do not know the pattern maker but I liked it and was glad to run across it. I decided to give it a try and had fun with the rather light background I was happy to discover that my wife liked it a lot Dick heppnerguy
  17. Some nice pieces honoring the vets have come up this year that I have never seen before now, and I am so glad that the people have finally learned to be thankful for the many sacrifices our military people have made for all of us Dick heppnerguy

It looks like one would get an "A" if it was graded in your wood-shop. I like it too. Dick heppnerguy
  19. I love it when someone decides to give the scroll saw a try and finds out they can also Make something fun from what started out as just a boring little piece of wood Dick heppnerguy
  20. Things don't always come out as we hoped it might. But experimenting with different ideas can be very rewarding, because we learn from doing. And every now and then it becomes a discovery that opens a new door to many new and fun items as a result of the surprise outcome.. I love your experimenting and you have come up with some splendid things as a result. Keep up great work, Dave, we all enjoy your posts and inputs Dick heppnerguy
  21. I enjoyed your little fish. You have created a cute piece that will be sure to delight everyone who sees it. Very well done Dick heppnerguy
  22. I will get back to you with that information today. I just made mine front his post and he said I could do that. He may be willing to send you a copy of his pattern. I told him in advance that I would not share the pattern I made from his post if he allowed me to make one. Dick heppnerguy
  23. I saw this pattern cut on another web site and I really liked it so I contacted the pattern maker and asked his concent to make a pattern from his post and was given hos permission to do so.. I thought I nice tribute to our service people who have served and sacrificed for us all. I enjoyed making it and wanted to share it with all of you Dick heppnerguy
  24. Kevin, It was not my daughter that scrolled but rather my niece. She cut the bucking horse piece and was all over the place as she started but it ended up quite nice and one would not noticed where she was off track when she was done. She also painted and assembled a penguin that I cut for her and she painted it with my airbrush and then glued it up. It came put really cute and she was well pleased. She is about 62 years old and does several crafts on her own. I hope I get her hooked on scrolling too because it is such a rewarding hobby. I did not take any photos of her work but I wish I would a have. I also cut an old wagon pattern for her and gave that to her to take home. She requested me to make it for her and I had a hard time getting her to just say thank you and accept it without paying for it. I do nor charge family for my work if it is for themselves. Dick heppnerguy
  25. I don't expect these to raise very much money but it hopefully will help a little. I am interested in seeing what does ir does not attract interest so I can do better with each event Dick heppnerguy
