  1. Loren, I like them all but i would think it would be easier to cut and paint another piece all together that try sand off the paint and refinish it.. Just my take on things Dick heppnerguy
  2. This is the second shell piece I recall seeing posted, probably the other one was also yours, Hard to believe it is made of wood, It looks so real. You are one talented and ambitious person Dick heppnerguy
  3. Very impressive. I don't think I would call this piece as OK work, I would say more like, a wonderful and marvelous piece Dick heppnerguy
  4. Great job, Dave, You are progressing really quickly with your scrolling..it does not surprise me though, because I have enjoyed all your posts and admired the wonderful work you have produced. Dick heppnerguy
  5. I like your planter idea, Ralph. It looks durable, useful and very decorative. A great way to spruce up the flower beds while using some of the lumber that has been taking up space in the shop. i bet if you made a few of these and set them up on the corner of a mall lot, you would sell out Dick heppnerguy
  6. Jim Finn, the "box man', makes hundreds of boxes every year and recently posted a tutorial on making them. Part of it has the directions for installing the hinges. Go check that out.. Dick heppnerguy
  7. Mine is sought by horse owners. I have them come by and pick it up, empty the barrel and bring the empty barrel back to me the same day
  8. I like the wood choices. It seems to be perfect and show up the mountain ranges too. It is a nicely done piece. would make a great puzzle. It is sort of that anyway. only really large Dick heppnerguy
  9. Peter, You always come through with things of interest for me, every time.. I would have never thought to use a black backer board under a black cutout. I would think this would be the perfect piece to use your air brush of accents too. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Helmut, I enjoy looking at this sort of work and I like cutting too. They are indeed an attention getting item. Nice job on your part Dick heppnerguy
  11. not into the skull thing, myself, but you sure did a great job on this one. I know it will have appeal to a lot of people. If you are making it to sell, I would bet you will not only sell it, but also get some requests for more of the same. Dick heppnerguy
  12. thank you everyone for your responses. I appreciate it. I will just have to be careful and not put up things that might be in question, for sale. I can not imagine anyone going after me for one of two sales of a Mickey Mouse wood piece, but whatever money I might make from it, is certainly not worth a lawyers fees and a fine. I appreciate your responses on this. I still think it is a little silly for this to have to be a problem for a couple of little woodworkers trying to pay for their materials. Dick heppnerguy
  13. Dan, I looked at your project and wondered, "What is a Harley chair?" I opened the post and the first thought I had was, I had never seen a chair with this design before. Then as I looked at the logo pattern , you mentioned in your post, it all came together. The design on the back of the chair matches the logo design. Quite clever. Is this your own idea, or am I just not in touch with the reality of things going on in the world? A really cool idea in either case. That should become a great conversation piece all through this summer and many summers to come. Dick heppnerguy
  14. So what about coloring books that use the different DISNEY characters. Do you think all the color books have purchased the rights to draw and produce these from Disney? I am just curious it is obviously a confusing situation for many. How does one distinguish between what is acceptable and what is not? You can find youtube items on how to draw, say Mickey Mouse or Popeye, are these ok? Dick heppnerguy
  15. I know that selling a logo for a company, like say, Nike, made as a scrolling item, is called an infringement of there copyright. I believe I am correct with this statement, and like a Disney character, the same thing is true, again, as I understand things. That being said, why is it Ok to make pattern of cars and that is acceptable to use. It seems to be kind of same type of thing to me. can anyone answer me this? Dick heppnerguy
  16. With so many pieces it is difficult indeed to make every piece perfect to the next. I am amazed at how well you did. A tough job and guess what. People will look at this in awe and they won't believe their eyes that you actually made it. Don 't point out the errors to them, so they can just enjoy it and go home telling others about the unbelievable, wood piece they saw at your house. Display with pride Dick heppnerguy
  17. Fun cuts. It was these little baskets that amazed me when I first saw them and got me interested in scrolling. I have made several baskets and boxes and I always like the end results. Congratulations on a job well done Dick heppnerguy
  18. Very nicely done. Intarsia leaves one with a good feeling and a lot of satisfaction. You did a splendid job on your piece. Very nice indeed Dick heppnerguy
  19. Craig's, If you are doing intarsia then I can attest that a #1blade is way too small for that. Go to a #3to a #5 blade and you should be fine. Don't try to hurry the blade let it do the cutting. Take your turns slowly and make sure you have goo detention on your blades. When using a #1 blade too much tension can cause them to break too. Learn to relax and just have fun. Glad you are here with us. Stick around and we will get to know you better Dick heppnerguy
  20. A great little truck. You did a fabulous job for sure. A pleasure to look at Dick heppnerguy
  21. It sounds to me like the threads on the piece where the thumb screw goes into, needs to be replaced. Not a big deal to do. Maybe you could take that part off your first saw, if you still have it and see if that cures your ills. Just a thought. If you are using something to help you to tighten your thumb screw, like the piece that Steve Good sells the pattern for, I have seen several posts saying NOT to use them as they put too much tension on the thread, causing them to strip Dick heppnerguy
  22. Loren, So glad to see that you logged on to The Village. This is a family thing, here. Welcome to 'The Family'. Check out our free pattern library and explore everything you can stumble on to. There is so much here and a lot of talented people too.I am not sure why they let me on here, maybe just someone to poke fun at.Oh, go to the 'coffee house'. it is under the forum most of the way down. This is where you people hang just to have fun and get to chat with one another. They don't let me in the coffee house very often because I am too messy. Glad you are here Dick heppnerguy
  23. Jim, We are happy to have you on board and I hope you drop in frequently because we have a lot to offer here in The Village. 24. Funny thing. I posted it on my facebook page and sold 5 of them by the second day. What an easy pattern to cut and it is so liked. Dick heppnerguy
  25. My granddaughter was looking for a golfing plaque for her friend's birthday. I sent her 7 possibilities to choose from and she was considering them, when as I was posting the patterns to her, a new one from Sam Custudio came on my Facebook so I also included a copy of that to her. As soon as she saw it, she knew it was the one she wanted. but with a little change of the pattern. The original pattern had a man and a woman on it and she wanted two women on it, instead. So, a really simple change and I shot her back the one she liked in a few seconds. I went to the shop and 35 minutes later, I had the finished project ready to ship, tomorrow morning. I love these kinds of orders because the customer is happy and It only takes a few minutes to create. A win win situation all the way around. Dick heppnerguy
