  1. A lot of people pick up some free furniture on. Craig's list for free and use that wood. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I just might give this one a try Dick heppnerguy
  3. I cut Alder a lot and I have no problem but a do know that a scroll saw blade naturally does not cut in a straight line like other saws do. You are always cutting on an angle with them. One gets used to that after awhile. I have no answer for the hard to cut problem as I have found that to be a problem. I will try to see if I have that particular blade and give it a go on a piece of Alder, tomorrow Dick heppnerguy

  10. absolutely beautiful. this is an amazing work of love. should win a top prize any place it is entered Dick heppnerguy
  11. thank you everyone for the nice comments. I appreciate the encouragements. That is what we do so well in The Village Dick heppnerguy
  12. I am with you. I tried the spiral a couple of times and hated the results but after seeing the great work of Hans and Paul, and others that use them, I just knew I needed to jump forward and give it an honest try Dick heppnerguy
  13. I am the same way but I thought that one only gets better with trying and practicing. I would love to become as comfortable with the dreaded spiral as I feel with the flat blade. My progress is slow but i do feel I am making progress, never the less Dick heppnerguy
  14. Kevin, I have had the same thing happen to me and even after I got an approval on the pattern. People seem to think you are doing a painting and it will take awhile so they think nothing of making a change 2 days after they place their order. I even had a rejection after i showed a picture of the piece and went to deliver it. So things happen, as they say Dick heppnerguy
  15. What a nice piece. I have done a few of Sheila's patterns too. She is a great designer. You did a super job on it. that would make her proud as well Dick heppnerguy
  16. I have been doing the spiral blade learning and I need to knock out a relaxing piece to keep my nerves at ease Dick
  17. thank you, Paul. I used a #2 flat end blade in 1/4 inch BB Birch. I did not stack cut it, why would I want to mess up 2 pieces of wood at the same time? Dick
  18. Still working on using the spiral blade. i did this eagle with a spiral and I am starting to enjoy those spirals. I still feel like a brand new scroller when I am using them but what the heck, I am learning to do that so all is good with me Dick heppnerguy
  19. Here is a simple Sue Mey cross that I cut a couple of weeks ago and decided I would post it. I am happy with the way it turned out even though it is a simple pattern. Dick heppnerguy
  20. I chose this pattern because my daughter is big into horses and also has quite a bit of my scroll work and is always asking for more. I started this one because i not only liked the pattern but i saw that the cuts were going to be quite delicate in spots and was a perfect 'spiral blade' practice piece for me. I ended up mounting it on a piece of what I believe is Black Walnut that I had hanging around for a long time and I thought it would be perfect for this one. I have not used this type of backing on any of my previous things and I liked the way it came out. I think she will like it also Dick heppnerguy
  21. a repetitious task but you handled it as a one only thing. Sometimes we might want to rush through an order like this because there are so many and we often to it for less than we would charge had it been only one piece. but you treated each piece as an individual and made each of them with pride and caring. They are a tribute to you. It is no wonder they ask for repeats every year. Dick heppnerguy
  22. wow. you hit on something big here. It looks really nice and come summer you might as well pack up the scroll saw and break out the big boys because you will not have time left to scroll, I bet. Dick hepnerguy
  23. a wonderful piece I do not believe I have seen anything quite like this in The Village before..love it Dick heppnerguy
  24. Barb, Way to go. I am proud of you. Taking on making a pattern is a little adventurous and you have made the first step into a new world for yourself. I know your husband also is enjoying it. I sure hope he is getting well. I pray for both of you often Dick heppnerguy
  25. Your pattern and cutting of it are what one would have to call Perfect Dick heppnerguy
