  1. Very nice,,, and very different...
  2. Those are really, really nice... Darn I wish I could get the spirit.... I'm usually making the annual family ornaments by now,,,but it just has not hit me yet..
  3. Well, not a common practice to make frames out of a solid piece of wood,, I know it is done,,, but not common... If I did,,, I could round the corners of the picture on my belt sander in less than 30 seconds.. Or cut the rabbet wide enough that the picture fits without rounding the corners.. And Frank,, you are welcome in my house anytime... but don't go taking any pictures off the wall to see how I did the rabbets...
  4. Doing a one piece frame,,, I do not know of anyway to get way from the round corner on the rabbet.. But really, does it matter? A nice clean round corner it acceptable in this case...
  5. So is that a 10 pack of 20- total 200 lights?? Or is that 10packs of 200 each?? 200 each is a bunch of lights.. Sorry I find it so hard... I think I will order a 10 pack and see what I get!!
  6. Oh gosh!! that almost gets me in the mood!! great pattern, great job!!!!! Have to ask, and please help me,,,where/what lights did you use? I never seen to be able to figure this out...
  7. Very nice portrait cutting!,,, and the way you did the "Nova" at the bottom really pushes it up several notches....but this old man does not remember.... Maybe I can find that series of movies and rewatch them.. I know I enjoyed them...
  8. Great job, they are really cute....
  9. @Algae I use a collet chuck with a 1/4" collet in it..
  10. And I thought "Batman" lived in New York! Great job... Maybe you should use your design to make a bandsaw box... I think it would work.
  11. Nice job... The gnomes are always winners..
  12. Will I use a Mac Mop on my lathe to sand even the most fragile of my fret cuttings....... I do not run at this speed,,, but I do use them. I have three grits... 120, 180. 240. I use the the 120 most and it produces a smooth finish equal to 220 grit.. I need to talk to these people the do not really show all the advantages... I use it to get a good smooth finish and to remove almost all the "frizzes" . Been using them for year.. they will last longer than I live..
  13. No you are not,,, You do not know how many responses I have written,, and then changed my mind before hitting save.... It is hard for me an old trouble maker,,, but I try... But I agree,,,not the place... and good for Travis for watch us...OOPPs this is an old post.... ignore me,,,, I wasn't even here...
  14. Oh admit it, you are just showing off to us that are actually going into WINTER!.. Low 30's this morning when I got up.... but, the fall colors are something to behold... BEAUTIFUL!! Like you plaque,,, did not even notice the miss-spell until I read what you confessed... Never point our mistakes... Most will never notice.... most are a dumb as me... Great Jov...
  15. Could mean you have a intermittent problem... I hope Ray is okay,, been worried because he is an old guy like me... I would run the saw as much as possible to see if it happens again..
  16. I see a limited size selection... From the smallest #2 they jump to a #5,, I rarely use anything larger than a #3 and often smaller than a #2. I did not see spirals listed... maybe I missed them..
  17. Ha,,, my story,,,, I am not from a military family. I was the first one to go in.. I knew nothing about it... I lived in a boarding house when in college, there were two other guys living there also.. All they talked about was the Marines,,, everyone in their families were associated with the Marines... Ones sister was in the Marines... Anyway,,, I had no goals in college, so I was sorta flopping around, wondering what the heck I wanted to do.. One day I told the guys, I though I would quit school and go in the service.. Besides we were on our way to war in Cuba, so it looked like on the news... I felt the call..They said what branch are you joining... I said I guess the Marines,,,, They laughed,,, told me there was no way I could make it through the Marine Corps boot camp,, I took it as a dare,,, went the next day and joined..I love the challenge of Boot camp... I loved being in the corp.. I kind of gave me direction and I grew up some. Never been sorry about that decision..
  18. Well, I think you are right, Kevin... That is a lot of money for that kind of saw... but the price of all saws are going to go up in todays environment... The Hawk is the only American made that I know of,,,so eventually the saw you order will be sitting out off the coast rusting while it is waiting to get unloaded.... I guess that is way I keep looking far that one saw for sell on Craigslist,, that I just can't refuse... Having a few spares may be the only way to keep scrolling.. Coarse none of the blades are US made either,,, and you can't get spray adhesives,... and other supplies... BB, .....
  19. Congrats and that is a very nice table...
  20. I purchased this book off ebay. Said used.... look like new. https://www.ebay.com/itm/313677000675?epid=211381183&hash=item49089b2fe3:g:qm0AAOSwVNZf~5f4
  21. Okay.. some of my most proud,, difficult, pride, and horrifying,, memories are wrapped up in this:
  22. A while back I got into making military emblem plaques for members of my surrounding family that has served... I really enjoyed the little project and all that received them seemed to be really appreciative... I made 4 USMC ones because I wanted to ensure I had enough that I had one for myself... Well that did not work out.... next thing I knew all emblems were gone.. none for Papa.. So,, I made another just for me... Got it done today.. It will go on my wall above my computer desk... I made some enhancement for myself... I increased the size by 20%. The original ones were a little over 7" in diameter,,, mine is 10". I also I increased the size of the "Semper Fidelis" an additional 5% so I could scroll it. On the others I used decal because it was too small for me to scroll. On mine I have about 10 coats of "Gloss" finish on the center part,,, with sanding to 15K grit. between coats... I wanted it to shine. The reat is about 5 coats of simi-gloss. This is the results... First picture is comparison in size, not sure why the Navy one looks so out of round.. it is not... the second is a better picture of mine... I am thinking of making more as time allows, just to give out when the occasion calls for it.. Trust me.. they are well received... I don't think I have made much of anything that seemed to mean so much to the person receiving it....
  23. Love it... and you are inspiring me... You do not see a lot of segmentation on here.. Great timing,, I have a segmented piece cut out,, fact it has been cut for some time, but I have procrastinated finishing it, because I do not have much experience with the staining... The one I started I need to sorta blend some stains together... I even have it sitting on my work table again.... What the hey,,, just do it,,, I have created fire wood before.. Thanks for the inspiration..
  24. Very nice,,,, in fact, very very nice...
  25. Ha,,,, no not yet... The pictures I took, it was laying on an afghan on the floor... I was a little surprised though when Patti saw it... She did saw wow, where can we hang that... That's pretty cool, because she normally does not care for the fret stuff I do... neither does my daughter... I don't know how they got so screwed up!!!
