  1. You really did a great job on that piece... Fine, fine, work...
  2. You did a great job... I love the Schwibbogens.
  3. Got it done... I really think the assembly and finishing was more difficult than the scrolling part... Usually is for me...But it was worth the effort,,,, now I have to decide what to do with it! I lined the inside of the "box" part with some veneer that I stained a dark color. Finished with about 6 coats of Deft gloss lacquer. The wood is 1/4" Mahogany from Ocooch Hardwoods. I would like to do another one just because I really enjoyed building this one...
  4. Don't need it, don't have the money even if I did need it, but if I had the money,,,, I would order even though I don't need it.. Ya know what I mean!!
  5. Humnmm.... 5' x 5' x 1/8" B/BB grade, $56 plus shipping. Yesterday I purchased 2 sheets that size, same grade for $18.99 a sheet, they cut each sheet in half for me so I could handle it better... This was at our local Windsor Plywood Store... They can be hit and miss on the quality of their BB. but this is pretty good. They had no 1/4" in stock and did not have any idea when they would get more..
  6. Ouch!! Got me!!
  7. Yep, my Delta had two also,,, off hand I do not remember about the 734... I think it might... I know the few boards I have run through it were near finish material when I finished.. I just feel, and my opinion only,, that for hobby work like I do... I do not need the most expensive... and the finish I get is as good as any lumber I would buy at a lumber store...maybe better than some.
  8. BOY,,, I HOPE SO! ENOUGH SAID, I WILL GET IN TROUBLE..
  9. I guess I was lucky, or the Delta I received was really tuned in... In all the time I owned it,,, I only got snipe a couple times, and that was trying to plane a short piece of wood.. I have read about it from a lot of people with planers... but I did not experience it to any extent... I will be anxious to see on my DeWalt 734.. although in my current mode of wood working I doubt if it ever gets t the use my Delta did. I would love to experience a 735 with a spiral head on it to see it it is worth so much money,, I have always been satisfied with the finish I received from the Delta... The few boards I have put through the DeWalt 734 with straight blades have been even better... WIth a spiral ,,, wow,, must be ready to finish right off the machine.
  10. Went to my local Ace Hardware yesterday... looking specifically for 3M 77 Super... They had none but they had 4 cans of 3M 77 (no "Super" on the label) and one can of 45. Not wanting to be accused of being a hoarder,,, I took 3 cans of the 77 and the one of the 45. I left one can of 77 for the next person (I am such a swell guy). I tried the 45 yesterday,, and could tell no difference between it and the 77 Super I have used for years.. What works works.. Went to the plywood store today where I normally buy my BB... They did not has 1/4" but a pretty good stack of 1/8", which I rarely use.. I purchased 2 sheets of the 1/8" at $19. ea.. just in case.. I think that is real close to what I have paid in the past... I have another place to check for 1/4".. but I have land taxes to pay this month... humm. guess I had better ease up on the hoarding a little. But hey, Welcome to the new USofA.
  11. Sir,, you do absolutely awesome work.. ! I always get excited to see something you are posting.... Great piece.

  13. I should do that for my son...
  14. I am surrounded by hundreds of acres of wine vineyards and wineries... Hic! Who could ask for more..I have a nice home and five acres... for sale for $1 million.... okay I will sell for somewhat less... but... I have a RV travel trailer... Pee stops are only as far as the next wide spot I can stop at... run back into the trailer fill a cup,,, pour it out and continue on.... Not really I had some simple surgery that took care of the need so much..
  15. Ha,,, I hear you,,, the clock,,, I really have no place for, but I wanted to make it... My kids will probably roast wieners over it and talk about dear old goofy dad, when I am gone...
  16. That is magnificent!!!! I love it... I also have that pattern, I believe.. A year or two ago,,, Pedro was very sick and his site was inactive for quite some time... When he came back I order many of his box and coffer patterns, just in case... Working on the Cremona clock now, all cut and fitted... now to finish and reassemble... You need to send him a picture of your coffer so he can post it on his site... Beautiful!!
  17. You haven't lost you touch Kevin... And I feel there is hope for us ,,,,,,,Kevin is back... seriously,,,, you have been missed!
  18. Congratulations on your new saw..... I would love to try one sometime... I may, where I live there are some decent buys on some used ones.. May just find a deal I can't resist one day..
  19. I don't see why redwood wouldn't work... I have a lot of redwood that I got when I to the stairs off my deck....Come over, I'll give you some!! The pipes in my street organ are salvaged redwood from my deck..
  20. I went to my local Windsor plywood today just to look at what was available and prices.... beautiful wood available in 8/4 thickness... but you will pay for it... all was like $9+ a bf.. in 6" width.. that gets expensive fast.. but maybe doable for chest pieces... darn they had some beautiful stuff... I leaned towards rose woods.. I have always loved that stuff... Several years ago,,, when I was pen turning, I purchase a bunch of pool cue stick making pieces of rose wood... Turned a enough handles for a complete set of screw driver and many pen... I'd like to find that deal again..
  21. Yep,, I can muck my way through cutting straight lines,,, but I have a round and an oval and couple round pieces I want glass backing for.. all thinks to the VERY talented Fiona!
