  1. AAAH, what does @heppnerguy know.... Dragons are cool... I love dragons... Great job!!
  2. The only time I use painter's tape is if I am stack cutting... and even then I usually only tape around the edges to hold the stacked pieces together... I use spray adhesives like 3M 77. I spray the back of the pattern and attach it directly to the wood... To remove after cutting, I wipe Mineral spirits over the pattern and them lift the pattern off. Use some more mineral spirits to wipe off any glue residue.. I scroll Baltic Birch plywood except if I am using solid wood, not plywood.. You cannot get Baltic Birch plywood at most big box stores like Home Depot or Lowes... I get mine at the local Windsor Plywood or an unfinished furniture store amd lots of lumberyards carry it. It is getting hard to find Baltic Birch, you can order it off the interne from places like Ocooch Hardwoods, Cherokee woods and lots of places that carry scroll saw patterns, and supplies..
  3. Whatever is wrong, I would think it is under warranty. I'm anxious to see what response you get..
  4. No the brass rod is just a pivot point.. I use it because I have a lot.... I will use steel or some such rod for the magnet to attach to..
  5. She do not sound good... Call Ray quickly.... How long have you had it? I bought mine when they first came out..so far not a problem with it, but it is my less used saw. It doesn't have a great deal of time on it.. Hope it is a quick fix..
  6. My wife showed me a picture a couple days ago of a little pin storage box and asked if I could make one for her... So I did... Made out of oak. The lid swivels on a brass rod to open and as soon and my order comes I will put a magnet in the lid and a piece of rod in the base to hold the lid closed... If she drops a pin, she can easily remove the lid and use the magnet to pick up the pin...
  7. Way cool @FrankEV.. My story,,, I had a neighbor that was an avid biker.. He had a beautiful Harley... He decided to buy a custom built bike... and I drove him a 100 miles to pick it up... He afforded to sell me his Harley for $9 grand,,, just so we could ride together. I pondered,,, my wife said go ahead do it... but, I just couldn't justify spending the money on something just on myself... I had kids heading to college and we wanted do help them... So I declined... the following week he sold it to the first person to look at it for $12 grand.. But that is life... My, college educated son,,, thanks for the help Dad... has a beautiful Harley sitting in his garage,,, just wasting away... hasn't ridden it for several years..
  8. Nice job.... I'm to old now but there was a day I came real close to owning one,,, my wife even okayed it but I backed out..

  10. Okay,,, I have a confession,, and please do not hold it against me.... I think after the first movie,,, I had kind of a crush on a female ape... I know,, I know,,, but with counseling,, I got better...... well a little...
  11. Charles,,, Charles... Charles... that is awesome... I mean awesome... Now if it were mine,, I would put that red stripe down the forehead and nose, red in the backer... You did a a great job.... this your pattern? I too liked the movies... can not remember if I saw them all.. Sent you an message. Think I found the CKE, but did not want to give it away..
  12. Great pattern and cutting... I wonder how many younger people even know of "The Three Stooges"?
  13. I love to compound cut... Have not tried the reindeer yet. Guess it is time I do that... I have made several compound cut Nut Crackers... They were great fun to make.
  14. Very well done...
  15. WOW! and WOW!. Excellent!!
  16. Flying Dutchman "New Spiral" 3/0...

  19. I think it is Matting from framing.... I think he is in the framing business also.. It is good stuff... I use "Poster Board" from any store, even Wallymart,,, where I meat my kind of people.. on most pictures I scroll... Never had a problem with it..
  20. Very cool idea and well done.. I'd be tempted to paint the front panel black so it would show up more as a silhouette. Just a thought.. Great job either way.

  22. I agree with @FrankEV, look at veneer suppliers. I use veneer a lot for a backer on things like the clock I recently posted... Another option is go to a hobby store that has model things to build... look at balsa wood. It is thin, lightweight and you can stain/paint it for color.
  23. Welcome to the forum.... I can't comment on an HF scroll saw, I have never even seen. If you are only going to use it occasionally, it maybe adequate. If you get into scrolling and really enjoy you will probably upgrade before long.. You speak of incorporating some scroll work with your turning.. I have a good friend that turns segmented pieces... He did the one attached and I got to scroll the wildlife for him to use with it...
