Glad you are joining us. I started with a 16" Craftsman many many years ago. Don't know the model, but what a pain it was. Had to get down on my knees with two tool to clamp a blade in the lower clamp! Bit I did some scrolling with it. A lot of people start with the DeWalt. I would not be surprised if more did than didn't. I just say get the best your budget will allow.
Really some fin cutting. The cut I did of that Nativity is hanging in a church down near or in San Diego. At least that is where it went a couple years ago.
I really like the cowboy. Great picture.
This whole forum is becoming "The Puzzle Factory"! Going to be Scott's legacy. We really need to thank him for it. They are fun and relaxing to cut. Really nice job cutting those two.
Do people know that Travis also has scroll saw patterns? Least I think he does or use to. He is so quiet about it. Maybe I just dreamed that..
Mine is a copy of the two above, on both my saws. The vac sits between the saws and I switch it back and forth to which saw I am using at the time. Probably the best thing I have done in my shop in years. Even though the dust extracter vac I have (Fein), is quiet, I still wear ear protection. The. noise of the air sucking is louder than the vac. I am very sensitive about my ears now that I am loosing my hearing. Little late, I should have been more cautious about it from the time I was young. Now I am just trying to save what is left.
Yours has the ability to suck an blow. Rig the vac so can fasten the vac hose to the red nozzle piece under the saw, push one of the little hoses that goes to the top into the nozzle, there is a hole for it. Push the end of the other little hose into the bellows pump. Above the table you are blowing the dust towards the hose that is sucking the dust. It should work well.
No, that does not look right. Should be centered in the slot in the table. Is the table at 90 degrees to the blade? I am not expert enough to figure an adjustment, from looking at my saw. I guess loosen the nuts that hold the table on and see if the table can be moved over a little. Check the straightness of the upper and lower arms. And send the picture to Advance Machinery and ask them for guidance. They are helpful.
And maybe some one on here can help.
If and when you call, ask then about the motor. There are older ones that can not have the motor replaced without sending the saw to them and have an expensive retrofit.
On the ones I make now, it is easy, I use a compass to draw the circle for the size disc I want. Coarse the drafting compass leaves a mark in the center. In the Hegner ones, I measured the diameter of the circle, set the correct distance for the radius and work a little to mark the center. I got close enough. I do not make a cut like is in the table top, and on my aux top I do not have that cut. It is easy enough to put the blade in with the zero disc removed then when I have the blade in the bottom clamp I put the disc down over the blade.
I use zero clearance all the time. I used Hegner disc (the gray plastic) until I made a larger auxiliary table top. Now I make my own disc that are the same thickness as my aux top.
Looks like you are having a great time, Dan and doing a good job having it. They are fun. But alas, my Grandson doesn't play with them like I thought he would. To many other things like Legos, electric set,,,, I can't compete.
Harbor Freight has a good light that will work for around $40

use the 20% off coupon on their home page.
Pull it off the clamp it has and it will fight right in the holder on your saw.
Holy cow, the scroll saw deal of the year! Except for a few flakes of paint on the motor, that baby looks brand new. CONGRATULATIONS! You even have the cover for it!
When I got mine and saw how little the foot pedal is, I thought that will not do. But it is my favorite now. Much more solid than the bigger on I have on my Seyco.
Great find. Great buy.
Thanks for showing. Great job. I have all the plan saved somewhere on a disc I think. But now I have them downloaded again. Somewhere in the internet land there is the plan for a Gatling gun also.
I'm really anxious to see your derringer when complete.
