  1. Ha, I feed up through #68's and #70's from the bottom all the time. Darn I wish we lived closer so we could get together.... I'd teach you the way things are met to be.... I cannot imagine feeding from the top, have tried and tried over the years and it is just unnatural in the world of scrolling!! But, yes I agree this is troublesome, no matter which way you feed. Competition is a good thing, I want all scroll saw manufactures to succeed.
  2. I like them all, in order 2,1,3. I would like painted and mounted more, if it was mounted on a bigger piece of wood. Just me.
  3. Doesn't seem like you should have to work on a new saw,,, however, with their help, it is a learning experience. The more you learn about the saw, the more comfortable you will be with it. Just kidding..... but... you own a DeWalt, you must know how to work on a saw..... er Chevy.. And Hotshot, I somewhat agree with you, however, I would never expect this on the 2nd most expensive saw one can buy. Let us not make too many excuses for the maker/seller. If they want to sell that level of a saw, they have to step up. I don't care how many things go on in their lives. They are trying to sell a professional grade piece of equipment. How many companies would be as patient as Iggy has been?? I'm not a company but I would have sent the saw back and got my money back, spent it with someone else. Just my opinion. I had trouble when I first bought my Hegner (it is a used demo saw). But I knew and they knew it was operator problems not the saws, but Advance Machinery responded to my questions in full force. Immediately and stuck with me until I had it figured out. I had problems with my Seyco, and Seyco responded immediately and followed through. I think Seyco is a pretty small family company... That is how it should be. Would I expect that kind of response from a big company like DeWalt, or Delta,,,, nope, I am nothing but a little pin prick to them.. Just saying.
  4. I bet you are let out of the dog house with that. Well done.
  5. Clever, my wife would only hang one half of that sign.... you probably can guess which half...
  6. You can buy the Feins with or without the accessories. I got it with accessories. I ordered the turbo II without the HEPA filter. I can add that later, but WOW are they expensive! If I read it correctly it does start with the tool, "Autostart outlet with power-on delay to prevent current spikes." Not sure how I connect it to my foot switch(s). My foot switch does not have an extra outlet on it. I had a friend that had one several years ago and it seemed like it also ran for a few seconds after the machine turned off, so it would collect the dust left in the hose or some such thing. Maybe I am remembering wrong. It said the regular price was $590, special price $399. I don't know is the regular price is that high. That seems like a heck of a sale.... I'm a skeptic, I guess.
  7. Well I ordered a dust extractor. I ended up deciding on the Fein. Because of the sale, I could get it around $150 cheaper than the Festool. I think Fein are pretty good, maybe a little short of a Festool, but much better than what I currently have. I am thinking of way to set it up that will make it quick and easy to switch between two saws. I have a few ideas, that may work. So after the vac arrives I will see what I can do. Hate to spend the money on this, but I think/hope, when I am set up I will wonder why I didn't do it years ago.
  8. You can do it Jeff. It is not harder.... one hole at a time.
  9. Oh, my! You have set the bar very high!! Great job. I, as a fan of Vikings, am really liking that!
  10. Yep, I did get the viking pattern. But I am working on the giraffe right now. Darn you beating me to the Viking! I can't wait to see it. I have a little story to go with the Giraffe, but I will save it for when I post my finished product.
  11. Holy Cow!! I got that baby dragon pattern the other day from ALex as his freebee for buying X many patterns. I did not pay much attention to it, but now, I want to cut it. Awesome job and wow and wow on the painted one! That elk is pretty darn cool also. I am working on an Alex pattern as one of my current projects.
  12. Ouch! I drive a GMC and have had several of them, only because my Brother-in-law and nephew are Chevy guys and they told me they would never work on a Ford. But they do work on my GMC's. BUT, my very favorite PU ever and will always be my favorite was a "66 Ford. I'd still be driving it if my kids hadn't learned how to drive. They both took a whack at wrecking it. My daughter finished it off. But because she is an awesome daughter, I never bring it up,,, even though it was only 30 some years ago....! I hold no grudges.... (I will get even).... I say no more, this is Iggy's thread. Sorry.
  13. Will not to start any big argument here, like Ford versa Chevy,,, but, you buy your 4 DeWalts (Chevy) and I will keep my Hegner (Ford) and my Ford ah, sorry Hegner will be running long after you wear out all 4 of your DeWalts...... and have to buy 4 more.... Come on,,, just having fun.
  14. There was a while when Steel City was in business, they did table tops for table saw and some of their other machines with Granite. Never so or had one, but the reasons they gave for it were, perfectly flat and would stay that was, would not rust, heavy.. maybe some others, I forgot. Wonder if that would make a good scroll saw table.. I say when they were in business... which was a relatively a short time.... maybe that says something about how it worked...
  15. Denny, you always do beautiful work. This is no exception.
  16. Well, Dave, now you know. I guess someone needs to get their hands on one of these saws and let us know if they are of the same "caliber as the Excalibur" (sounded pretty good, huh). If it is, then my opinion is, it is a better made, smoother running, quieter and longer lasting saw than a DeWalt. I have owned both.
  17. Very well done!
  18. Those are neat. Never has seen that birdhouse before. That is cute.
  19. Iggy, maybe time to look at a Hegner. Been scrolling on mine this evening and I say what is vibration......? It is rock solid. I moved from my Seyco to the Hegner to get a little less aggressive cut. 1/4" soft wood. What a difference between it and the Seyco in vibration. The Seyco is good and smooth. The Hegner.... the only thing that moves is the blower hose. But again I will admit, the Hegner is not one a person would move to and immediately say this is it, this is the very finest. It takes some practice and getting use to in the world of tension and blade changes. But once that barrier is crossed..... I love my Hegner.
  20. You people are so fortunate to has shows like this close enough to attend. Do not miss the opportunity to meet, set up a lunch get together or something and not excuses for no pictures.... I am the only one left in America that does not have a cell phone with a camera,,,, or even a cell phone for that matter.
  21. Have you expressed you concern about copyright issues to him. He may not have thought of it, he may back out or he may get permission from higher up,,,,and you may get a bigger order of things to make.
  22. get his request in writing signed.
  23. Do you have any input on a Fein Dust Extractor. They are having a pretty good sale on them now. Spec are very close to the Festool, may a little noisier.
  24. Well, if you didn't do such nice work, that wouldn't happen... and that is a great box.
