    Very, very nice cutting. Please follow doctors orders. I had back surgery several years ago. The surgery went even better than expected and the hardest part for me was not being able to do much or lift anything over 5 pounds for 6 weeks. I felt great it was so hard to stay down. I really hope yours goes a well.

    I guess this thread coming up is to remind me I have already mentioned this before,, well I am old I am allowed to forget! My main concern is the smoothness of the cut. Getting a good finish on something like a chess piece may be a difficult thing.

    Dave when I try I well tell you but do to some health problem have do less and less scrolling. Hope to get back. I think the block I have is a little thin. Well let you know when I get a chance to try it.

    Oh man Dave that is a beauty! You Re the chess set King, for sure. I have a piece of alternative Ivory for the light colored pieces. I do not know how well it will cut on a scroll saw, I have turned it on a lathe and it was very nice to turn. I also do not know how it will price out either. May find it is overly expensive, I do have a piece I am going to play with to see how it would look, how much sanding after cutting is another consideration.     I have looked at the CS and other Carter products many times. I think I would use my bandsaw more if I had them, but I just can not bring myself to spend the money. Thanks for the info.

    Seems to me, the Seyco 24" would be a good down the middle between a 20" abd a 30" saw, In my small shop I would pick the 24".

    Very beautiful piece! I would imagine that is a difficult cut. Delicate cut, in thick wood, that has grain running every direction at once. Wonderful job.

    Thanks, I am old turned 80 and my Hegner is gettin old. been thinking about replacing the bushing,, both in the saw and myself... I will check into this!

    I wonder, do they shrivel up as they dry out? some very beautiful carvings out there done with them.

    Seams like I remember people turning them on their wood lathes. I do not remember what for. Never heard of cutting them on a scroll saw, so do it and report back! I know some do carvings with them. I think your are correct about jewelry, Not big enough to do much else with.. I hope you try it and report back!

    You certainly have put a lot of work into that site. Very nice. I do not have time to read it all right now but have it bookmarked. You may mention it on your site but the site https://www.finescrollsaw.com has many old fretwork patterns that are free to download.
