  1. ochooch is great
  2. does it really make a difference if the blad is perpendicular to the table?Verticle is important but what difference does it make if the top of the piece or the bottom is cut first.Igenerallyuse wood less than 1/2 inch so maybe ticker wood makes DIFFERENCE
  3. i inherited my grandfather's. One of the reasons I ended up with a motorized scroll saw. Neat but need to watch the width of the wood you are going to work on.
  4. I find using lacquer and GIZMO CALLED tHE cRITTER WHICH USES MASON JARS IS SIMPLE AND RELATIVELY INEXPENSIVE. THE CRITTER USES PINT MASON JARS. i KEEP 3 CAPPED. oNE WITH LAQUER ONE WITN SANDINGN SEALER AND ONE WITH ACETONES. aFTER USING ONE OF TE OTHER TWO i RUN A BIT IF THE ACETONE THROUGH TO CALEAN UP TJE I NSIDE OF tHE cRITTER
  5. oil or lacquer will bring out the color and make grain stand out. beautiful as a a backgroud
  6. I use them all the time. The wood is top quality and they ae fast
  7. I just dab with paint thinner or some times lacquer thinner
  8. amazpn has a fairly big list of sand o flex stuff from the wheel on up
  9. the wheels I mentioned can be found on Amazon as abrasive sanding wheels. I mentioned in earlier post I like the RUSTIC look from an artistic perspective. But the wheels would allow you to move towards a realistic rounded shape if you soften the edges.
  10. you can get sanding wheels for your dremel. They look like wheels with flappy edges and come in different grits. You could relive the edges and give a more rounded look. I dont see why whast you have is good and is fine as is though
  11. TRY OOCH hARDWOODS. QUALITY SUPERB
  12. ooch hardwoods https://ocoochhardwoods.com/
  13. The finer straighter grain the better
  14. it is fairly straight forward. just make certain your blank is as perfectly square as you can get it. You can put up with one side not perfectly square but the common side needs to be as square as possible. you just need to make certain the common side is flush up and down where the pattern fold is made
  15. CAN'T HELP WITH THE MECHANICAL PART BUT HEAT SHRINK TUBING WILL FIX THE REPLACEMENT OF BLOWER HOSE PROBLEM.
  16. welcome. Rather than chase down an old clamp check with Denny Kapin this sight and see if a Pegus clamp will fit if so they are much better than an old one
  17. you are tightening your wrist. In the middle of your cut just relax. You will probably see the piece snap back. RELAX periodically with power on or off bet your piece will move
  18. Jimmy have you tried different pattern makers. There are a bunch out there that might try your abilities. Like Alex Fox. Not only does he have some very challenging patterns but buying from him would help a Ukrainian.
  19. comments about the blade being vertical brought up a very simple way to check. Use a piece if scrap about 1/2 thick. cut a slot in the front. turn off the saw move the wood you just cut and insert it FROM the back. The slot should slip easily on the blade. if it does not then you do need some adjustment.
  20. The Critter takes 40 psi or less. It is easy to spray small stuff. admittedly I generally srapy severl items at the same setting. Ornaments are a snap
  21. wow the critter used to be in the 20 buck range It does have a mason jar and I use a second one filled with a solvent so I can clean the nozzle and the top easily. You can not change the spray pattern other than volume but flat is flat. I use it to spray lacquer or sanding sealer out side and it has done e well for many years after I replaced the aluminum stem. I spray many different finishes and prep stuff. I keep a couple of Mason jars with different material inside so all I have to do is screw on the jar with the stuff I want.
  22. don't e afraid to cozy up to Dennie Kaplan this site. Although he is a dealer he won't try to sell you anything unless providing suggestions is considered selling. You can depend on what he says
  23. if you have an air compressor "the Criter" spray gun might be a better way to go. If ou try it get the stainless tube the aluminum is way too soft/
  24. blade drift as noted can cause problems. Are you certain though you are not adding to or causing the drift. When you note a drift relax take a deep breath and above all relax your hand that is guiding the piece. You may see the working piece move on its own a shade back o center. Ones hand pressure tenda to build up unnoticed and relaxing helps. Check Pegus blades sold by Dennie this site. might like the blade.
  25. been meaning to mention if you are frustrated by the white glue squeeze out there is a better way. Tightbond has a translucent glue that is as strong at their usual stuff. It has a brown shade bottle lable with the word "translucent' under the name It dries perfectly clear so no white lines show after you glue a joint. Have been using it for several years with no weakness and no white lines left.
