  1. Hey Montserrat, where are you located in Tennessee? We are getting ready to relocate to your fine state in or around the Knoxville area. Maybe we'll be neighbors.
  2. Dan, can you point to where I called somebody a name? I'm curious as to what you are referring. If "egotist" is derogatory name, I am amazed. It's a description at best. I have been around HOA's in the past and have come to know that who run them and almost every case that person was just what I said. They get a case of big head and just fall in love with telling others how to live. If that offends you, I'm sorry. But sometimes the truth hurts. It was not my intent to rile you.
  3. Rolf, this wonderful state has gone off the rails. We can't wait to follow our friends who have left and found a much friendlier place to live. We don't have a lot of money. We did well when we sold our last home and it's all invested to give us a small income. I was self-employed for almost 40 years and really didn't understand what "retirement" was all about. No pension, no retirement, no union income. Nothing but what I am able to generate on my own. So being able to save $15k a year means a lot. We will be able to "enjoy" life again. At least we are praying it is so.
  4. Believe me, I'll never own a home in a HOA neigborhood. I won't allow anybody telling me what I can and can't do. If I want to put up a flag pole, by God I'm going to do it. Those little "fiefdoms" are usually run by some egotist who thinks he knows best. NOT! I'm going to be looking at more rural of a lifestyle. There are areas where we are heading that the dream I have in my head does exist.
  5. It has also been mentioned here that folks have taken a bag of premix concrete and set it on a shelf under the saw so that it adds that extra 75-100 pounds of weight pushing down. So far, I've not had to go that far. I did put down the rubber matts that H/F sells. I bought 4 pkgs of the 4 piece stuff and did my whole shop. My saws sit on that matting and sort of impress it to the point where they don't move a bit.
  6. It won't be long and I will have my new stand for the Ex16 done complete with it's onboard dust control system. I got sidetracked with our "new to us" motorhome. Soon.
  7. It may just be so you can use it as a blower also. But it might quiet it too. Win/win.
  8. From what I have heard, there are some cities in Tennessee that have their own property taxes along with the county tax. So we will be trying to stay away from those cities. My friend just bought a home 15 minutes from Knoxville in the county. 2400 sq ft walkout finished basement, 4bdrm 3 bath, 2 car garage on a large treed lot. $190k. $900/yr property taxes. The house we sold 13 years ago is now taxes at $10k/yr. Our mobile home is at $700/yr. But we are paying $13k/yr in space rent. We bought our mobile home brand new 9.5 years ago for $200k. It is now worth about $300k. Crazy! Nobody makes money on mobile homes unless they are in So Cal a mile from the beach. So with that said, we can buy a nice place in Tennessee, invest the money or pay off the home and save all that money we've been paying in rent. The investment of the house sale money should cover a mortgage pmt. I haven't decided yet whether to do that or pay cash for the home. So, that's what I know at this point. Oh, another thing. We are paying $120/mo to store the RV here in our park. I'm hoping to find a home that has a place for it so there's another $1440/year savings. I can't find the downside other than the weather.
  9. I adapted your fix back when you posted it.
  10. You and my wife and number 2 son. Neither of them has ever taken a good picture.
  11. She has since decided that we'd be much better living somewhere else. I did no coaxing. She is just sick and tired of how this state is being run. Into the ground. Not a good place for retirees. No way to hedge the rising taxes. We are looking somewhere in the Knoxville area. I was already warned not to buy in city limits because of the double taxation. So we will try to find something out in the county. Our closest friends are in Dandridge but I'm afraid that might be a bit too isolated for Barb. If you have any info or suggestions/advice, I'm all ears at this point.
  12. We bought a motor home to use in our search. We will go back there in it and spend a couple of months looking at areas. Once we determine where we want to live, we will come back here and sell our home. Once it is sold, we will pack, ship and store everything back there. Then we go back for good in the motor home and find/buy a home. We can live in the motor home until everything is done. Once we buy a place, we'll immediately start saving about $15k a year because we won't be paying rent. We can buy back there for less than what our mobile home is worth. And property taxes are about the same outside city limits. I've done some homework but still have some to do. Thanks for your wishes.
  13. That's the plan. We want to move to Tennesse for many reasons. One, many friends have already moved there. Far cheaper to live, the opportunity to have an actual house again. And, it's a RED state. More our style of thinking. I might even have a big shop. My dream is a home with a walkout basement with living quarters upstairs.
  14. I wish there were more near me. It appears there are only 3 or 4 and none of them are active on the Village. I'm hoping there will be more in Tennessee.
  15. You must have surprised him Dick. He doesn't look happy. Lol.
  16. They both look like good durable switches. When I was looking for one, neither of those came up. So far, I'm happy with the H/F switches that I have. Even the one that came with my Ex was in a Ex box and it appears to be identical to the H/F.
  17. I just find it easier to use the foot switch to operate the saw. It allows me to hold the work with both hands. Both of my switches are H/F momentary switches. I would not want a click on - click off switch. As stated above when a blade breaks or the wood jumps I want instant off by lifting my foot. Another thing is if my foot switch wears out, I'm still in business using the saws switch. No down time. You can buy a nice low profile foot switch from Hegner. Not sure of the price but I would not be without a foot switch. If you go back to the first post in this thread I explained how to "fix" these switches.
  18. 1918? That's a good long time without repair. Wow!
  19. Very nice! Great pattern.

  21. Yes, but I paid under $20 for each of the 2 I bought.
  22. I'm almost done with my new stand and it will have a self-contained vac w/muffler and the tiny little cyclone in a 2 lb. coffee cannister. I'm happy to hear how well yours works.
  23. It's called life. Just remember, there is/was only one perfect person. EVER!
  24. You got notified that I "reacted" to your question. Not that I answered it. From what I could see, it seems that your "x'ed" areas are meant to be removed. But I'd have to really study the rest of it to know what/where to cut. I don't do that fretwork so someone more knowledgeable than me will give you better advice.
  25. I read/heard recently that you don't want to center the blade on the wheels. The correct way, I heard is to put the deepest part of the gullet in the center with the teeth a bit closer the outside of the wheel.
