    Yeah, it was a tank and it had almost no moving parts to wear out. Just the blade.

    Thanks JIm, I must have had a brain fart there for a bit. I also got the same thing in my set and now I recall greasing up the new sleeves prior to inserting them. I DID know for sure though that I didn't replace any bearings.

    Kevin, you are right about the new Pegas clamp upgrade. I put a set on my Ex and they used the original bearings and sleeves so I'm not sure what Bob meant on that matter. My original inquiry was regarding the availability of the bearings & sleeves through Pegas as replacement parts for the original Excalibur saws.

    Is it a "vibrating transformer" saw? I had a very small one when I was about 12 or 13. I think I trades a Benjamin single shot pump pellet pistol for it. It had a big old transformer inside of it. Weighed a ton. You'd plug it in, turn it on and it would emit a hum and the blade would go up and down. Didn't work worth a darn.

    Sorry for your loss. My Mom had a massive stroke in 2003 at age 81. She spend almost 2 years in a nursing home. Not how I want to end up for sure.

    I have been in an ongoing conversation with Bob Duncan from Pegas/Grobet regarding availability of bearings/sleeves and other miscellaneous parts for the older Excalibur saws. Pegas will supply the individual parts without needing to buy whole assemblies. Unfortunately, they will NOT service the bearings/sleeves for the original blade clamps as they are different than what they use in their clamps. But if you upgrade or have upgraded to their clamps you are good to go on all bearings/sleeves. No need to purchase parts that you don't need as has been the case up til now.

    You mentioned wine. We like wine and have found, for us at least, price doesn't determine what we like. So I guess that can relate to many things.

    My DD/Fein vac combo seems to work great. I use it for my scroll saw and general shop cleanup. The 16 foot hose makes that possible in my small shop.

    I've never seen a really small DD. I know they make a regular size and a large one.

    I bought it mostly out of curiosity to see what kind of power it has. As for a switch, I'll just put a triple outlet on my foot switch that will trigger both the saw & the vac at the same time. And if it turns out to not be the do all end all, I'll just sell it on c/l. I might try my hand at making a cyclone out of a 3 lb. coffee can. No matter what, I'll be smarter when I'm done than I am now. Lol.

    No, once you get your heart set on something, nothing else will take it's place. But, take that old saw and stash it somewhere so that you will always have it to fall back on. You'll love that Pegas saw. I love both of my EX''s and will not part with them. If I had the room, I'd probably keep my Hawk but something has to go. I'm as short on space as you are. I'm still waiting to read/hear the FIRST negative comment on the new Pegas. Still nothing but happy customers.

    Kevin, you'd have to be cutting 24/7 to generate that much sawdust. It would be very interesting to see just how long it would take you to fill up a quart jar with just your scroll saws. I realize you have a whole stable of them but you are still just one person unless you are SuperScroller and haven't told us yet.

    I read the reviews and most folks said they worked. A few almost always find fault with everything so I toss most of them out. The DD works great and so does the H/D Dustopper that fits on a 5 gallon bucket. A lower profile is what I like about that one. I have both and they both work great.

    You know, until the arm lifts came along, most of us just used a block of wood to hold the arm up on our Dewalts. I wouldn't abandon the saw because of that. Just admit it, you want a new saw. Lol.

    I do have an app Jim. I'm curious too. It's the exact same vac as what Seyco is selling, minus the cyclone and hose. I now have 3 saws and the plumbing is getting to be a nightmare so if this works, it will be great.

    I agree Ron, it seems like if room is the problem, maybe a re-engineered stand is in order. Put the motor below the saw and design a smaller footprint stand.

    There is a lot of good stuff on there but the travel distance is sometimes just not worth it. I bought my last saw and had to drive a lot farther than I usually would. It was on C/L though. I have watched a few Hegners on Marketplace.
