  1. Paul, why not buy it and pay to have it shipped? I'm thinking that would be nice to have.
  2. The shelf could be your first project on your new Pegas saw. Or at least the decorative portion of it. If that saw still is functional, it still has value. You just have to find the right situation for it. Somebody could use it I'm sure.
  3. It sounds like a "collectible" and should be put up on a shelf as a conversation piece.
  4. Yes, it is. I just bought my EX16 in like new condition in Santa Barbara for $200. I paid $250 for my EX21. Both steals.
  5. I'm not a fan of any sort of open flame heater around a wood shop. I use a small electric heater with fan enclosed. It draws very little and warms my small shop up pretty fast. It has a thermostat on it so I can set it where I want it to come on and off. No open flame though.
  6. And then there is this one. Also been on for a while now. https://santabarbara.craigslist.org/tls/d/buellton-excalibur-19-variable-speed/7053725234.html
  7. Just for your information, this one has been on C/L for a long time. https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/tls/d/san-diego-scroll-saw-heavy-duty/7076926500.html
  8. My Ex21 was made in Canada in 2010 and it has the tilting head. So does my Ex16 but it came from Taiwan.
  9. I'd build a new stand for your saw and relocate the motor under the saw.
  10. Just thought I'd toss this out for general consumption. I gave up using google a year or more ago. I find many things on Bing that don't come up on google. I read somewhere that others have had the same experience so I switched and so far, I'm happy.
  11. Another thing you might think about is if you can't sell or it or don't want to mess with it, donate it to either a school or a local Boys/Girls club or a scroll saw group.
  12. Hi Alan, I hope this is of some value. I have been watching with no actual interest, a couple of old EX 19's on C/L and Facebook marketplace. Both have been offered for $400 and have been listed for a long time. Meaning more than a month. Actually more like 3 months. No action. I think anybody who knows about Excalibur saws probably already have some knowledge of the early saws and that parts are not available in most cases. So, if you really want to sell your saw quickly, I'd have to say put your price at less than $200. I'd be very surprised if you get $100 for it. Sorry. Sometimes you just have to go the "donation" route and write it off.
  13. Thanks to all. I have solved my problem using all the help and info gleaned from here. SSV is the best. To solve the problem at hand, I cut a couple of tiny pieces of walnut to fit the holes that I had to deal with and plugged the holes. The two cracks that were formed by joining the two pieces of walnut were filled, as suggested, with Titebond II and sanding dust. So far so good. I'll not know how it all works out until I dip the whole thing in Watco's oil. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  14. I'll check that out Larry. Thanks.
  15. No, I come here to the village for all my important stuff.
  16. Thanks Dan, that was sort of what I was thinking about doing and I've got a brand new bottle of Aleene's tacky glue.
  17. Where do you find those? I can see where that might be just what I need.
  18. Thanks Kevin. I tend to agree with you. I've tried many different wood fillers over the years with less than stellar results. I may try to cut a tiny piece and glue it in. It was a stupid mistake but I'm trying to save the piece. If it doesn't work I'll just have to buy more wood and make a new one. Unfortunately it's the top and in a most visible place.
  19. I know this may sound silly but I have got to fill a couple of spots on my project with glue and walnut fine dust. I never can seem to get the mix correct. I always get too much glue and it is obvious when I go to finish. Can anybody give me some idea of how you make your filler? I've got lots of dust and a few different types of blue. What do most all of you use and at what ratio? Please, I know it's silly but I don't want to screw this up.
  20. I used to sell an add-on drill bit set from the numbered sets. It was comprised of 61-80 in a tiny metal index. The carburetor guys bought tons of them for opening up jets and cleaning out air-bleeds. About $20 at the time.
  21. Thanks JT. I had not seen that one.
  22. I like the idea of some sort of penetrating oil and let it sit overnight. I've never used PBlaster but I have heard nothing but good about it.
  23. JT, I agree with what you say regarding those two saws mentioned but all the Dewalt style saws have known problems with their bearings and sleeves. They all have a reputation for lack of grease or bad grease from the factories. With that said, why not take the time to inspect and do a proper lube job on them before they ruin the bearings and sleeves which expensive and hard to get. When I first got my Dewalt, I had no idea what the previous owner had done or not done so once I became aware of all the pitfalls and problems that the Dewalt saws have, I said why not go through and make sure everything is in good shape. I'm glad I did because a few of the bearings were almost dry and a few of the sleeves were on the verge of wearing through the hardening. Once I did the lube service that saw ran so much smoother and quieter that I know I did the right thing. Granted, the Hawks and the Hegners don't have all that mechanical stuff to worry about. I have had both of those saws. I cleaned and oiled the arms on my Hegner and checked the pivot points on both arms and made sure they were clean and oiled. I did the same thing on the Hawk. I didn't notice any change on either of them as I did with the Dewalt. I'm not sure about what I'll find in either of my EX's but I'm hoping that they had a better quality grease in their bearings but after I get done with them I will know what they have. Like you said, "we all have opinions" and I guess that's a good thing.
  24. Rocky, mine is 9 x 13 so together we still don't make a decent sized shop.
  25. All that space makes me drool!
