  1. I knew you were a good guy Les. Love the kitties.
  2. Deleted, I see Scott checked in.
  3. It looks like So. Carolina took it pretty tough. I sure hope to hear from Scott pretty soon. I'm sure he has his hands full right now.
  4. I keep forgetting about all the free services available at our huge local library. Thanks Don.
  5. Kevin, I'm so happy to hear you are a "cat" person. We have been married 50 years come December and we have had a calico cat for every one of those years. Too many to count.
  6. Jerry, for only being 48 years old you look great. LOL.
  7. Kevin, there should be a setting for 11 x 17 in your scanner/printer setup.
  8. My buddy had one. We used to ride to our Army weekend drills in it. If I'm not wrong, it had a 260 Ford engine.
  9. I sent him a text a couple of days ago but have not heard anything. I would imagine he has his hands full battening down the hatches.
  10. I just ordered all the back copies that I never had. Some are no long available but I did get a whole lot. I guess I'm weird. I love the mags and get a lot out of them. I'm not afraid to use scissors either.
  11. I agree Les. But it depends on price. To bring that saw up to what I would want could cost a ton. It is all about condition price and what's on it. If it has everything on it, I'd go up to $700. But it would have to "sing".
  12. Thanks Dick. I now understand. I enlarged your pic as much as I could to try to see what you have just explained but I couldn't keep tge detail. Now I know what I couldn't see. A great idea and something to put in my bucket.
  13. It does make me wonder why a vacuum with a clogged filter would burn up. You'd think it would be just the opposite. Air flow is air flow. Or the lack of it.
  14. I found that the price depends on what upgrades it has. A saw that old probably doesn't have any of the clamp features or the quick release of tension. I bought a 18" that was made in 1998 with all the latest stuff on it for $300. It had the stand and everything was in working order. Another thing to look for is whether or not it has the variable speed. I found that on the one I bought, it had a slow start problem. I didn't care for it so I sold it. The upgrades are very pricey so I'd say if you can get it for under $200 with a stand, it would be the most I'd pay.
  15. I admit to not being the brightest bulb in the bunch. So, with that said, what exactly is the technique you are referring to? I am not artistic in the least so I'm not picking up on what it is you are talking about. I see a very well done piece but I'm not sure what it is that you are calling "technique". Can you please enlighten me. I am humbled by your work.
  16. I hear ya. I did have to drive about 250 miles round trip to get the Hegner but it was such a good deal, it made it worth the drive. And it was along the ocean so we made a day of it. Oh, and Hi Gary.
  17. It's a good thing you don't work in the fertilizer industry.
  18. Bill, just out of curiosity, what brand, size, type are you using that you are happy with? Or is that a question without an answer?
  19. I'm not sure what to call you but I just wanted to offer this up. I watched Craigslist for a while until the right deal came along on a used Dewalt 788 type 1. I bought it, brought it home and started learning on it. I tuned it every way I could and it was a great saw. I then was watching C/L again and came upon a great deal on a Hegner 18 inch. I bought it and tried it out. There was just something about it that I didn't like so I sold it. For a nice profit. Then, I found a great deal on an Excalibur EX21. Like new. I love that saw. So, I sold my Dewalt. Again for a nice profit. I found a like new Hawk 226VS Ultra for a song. So, what I'm saying is, I now have saws that together retailed for over $2,000 and I'm in them a total of $525 and put about $650 in my pocket. So, really, I'm not in them anything at all. Keep your eyes open for deals. They come and go. You might as well participate.
  20. Well, if my first car had been Vauxhall, I might not have continued driving. Just saying.......
  21. You have made a wise decision to use the adaptor. Until you come to the realization that you need a better saw that is. I have heard and read that many scrollers who start out with a lower grade of saw become frustrated and quit the hobby. You at least are a person with the "sticktoitiveness" to put up with the problems associated with your saw. Once you do move up to a better saw, you will have overcome all the pitfalls that stopped others. Congrats.
  22. I realized or thought I did, that the spiral blades would allow you to cut from all directions without having to spin your wood. BUT now I find out that you still have to watch what direction you push/pull your work through the blade. I think I'll just stick with my goto flat blades and leave the spirals for those who like them.
  23. Well, I realize the samples are there for the taking but since I'm not going to be buying any flooring, I didn't feel right by taking any of them. Lots to choose from though. Maybe just a couple?
  24. When I was at H/D the other day I saw, in the flooring section, they have 4" square floor samples free for the taking. I didn't take any but the thought of scrolling them DID enter my mind.
  25. Mike's Workshop or Wooden Teddy Bear both carry them. I think they are the only sources for Flying Dutchman. But, Niqua is the same blade if you want to shop around.
