  1. Yes, I bought the saw off a guy here locally. He had it up on eBay and it turned out that he was only a few minutes from me. I got to check it out prior to bidding. When I saw what great condition it was in, I just paid him and told him to cancel the listing. Then I ordered the stand from Dewalt when they were on sale. I'm in about $250. I have taken it completely apart and lubed, adjusted and tightened everything that I could. It does a pretty good job. If I get my fence up, I may just leave it up in my driveway. I'll make a weatherproof cover for it.
  2. I look forward to seeing them Jim. Be sure to post some pics.
  3. Thanks RJ, I have been really going slow on these because it's so easy to screw up. One tiny slip and you have to toss it in the bin. These two are going to be a lot better than my first one. I told my wife that but she said she wouldn't trade it for any of these. Oh well........I've learned a lot since then and learning a lot more on these.
  4. There is no problem here Kevin. I've only been married once. 50 years ago. Her EX is long gone.
  5. I was going to try the Hawk but I still need to get acquainted with it a bit better so I went back to the EX. That saw sings. So smooth.
  6. Once finished, we put a battery operated candle that turns on and off by itself and will glow for 4 hours. It looks neat.
  7. I have this one. I like it and have tuned it to be pretty accurate. I also added a really good saw blade.
  8. Less, you just described what I have. Small shop, long driveway, covered with awning. I'm thinking of extending the front of my shop 3 feet and put up a vinyl fence for privacy so I can move my bandsaw outside and maybe get a real table saw.
  9. I'm making two more votive candle holders. 16 hours, 1 hour ea. They are getting easier and easier. I might get good someday. And fast!
  10. I'm sure there are least a couple RJF.
  11. You sound like me. Even with little space I can't pass up a scrap of wood.
  12. Nice set up. I wish I had a tiny fraction of your space. But, I'll work within my parameters. Thanks for the great pics.
  13. I think I wish I was your neighbor.
  14. I swore I was not going to start a topic but it seems like there is not much going on right now so, I thought, what the heck. I was just wondering how folks go about a project once you have decided to make something. Do most of you keep a stock of wood on hand or do you go out and buy for each project? I know those of you who do a lot of work on Baltic Birch keep a supple of that on hand but for those who are like me and do most of our work in hardwoods, do you keep a stock of it on hand or what? I don't have a lot of space so I'm limited to what I can keep. I'd really like to hear how others do it. I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a controversial subject. Let's just share our ideas.
  15. You old dog, you aren't any different than the rest of us old farts. I also have "selective " hearing. I hear what I want to hear when I want to hear it.
  16. If you don't see me, it's because I'm on my way to the Dollar Store.
  17. My wife doesn't bat an eye when I want to buy something because she knows that when she wants something, I never say no. She has more shoes than Emelda Marcos.
  18. Does it work as well as the blue tape. Removal and adhesive residue left behind. I'm interested to know because that blue stuff gets expensive.
  19. I just sent off an email to Grobet USA and explained my situation. I can't produce any paperwork for my purchase but I know it was from D & D so now, I'll wait to see what they say. I did ask for the procedure to replace my blades. I only have about 11 dozen left.
  20. To update, I emailed DnD and they affirmed that the notch was an attempt at something that didn't work out and there are no more "notched" blades. So, I guess we can all breathe easier and reorder as needed.
  21. You can call Qtena here in So Cal and get some info. They are good to deal with. I bought my Pegas clamps from them. Great fast service. I called them once with a question and got a real, live person on the phone.
  22. That's what I should do too. Bottom line is they are Pegas and they are defective. No matter who we bought from or when. I still have 11 dozen. Let me know how they respond to you. I bought mine from DnD.
  23. I bought a gross of them about the same time as you. Mine have the notch but I haven't seen any with a snaffle tooth. I started breaking blades in my EX. So I just install the blade higher and put the notch right where the clamp screw is. No more breakage and there are still reverse teeth at the bottom. I can see that you might not be able to do that with the Hawk. I should have sent them back but procrastinated. I'll use them up.
  24. I fell in love with the 53 Cad years ago. I found a beautiful one that had been "street-rodded" with all updated drivetrain and accessories but there was no way I could afford the price. So, your picture will have to suffice. Great job. Thanks for posting.
