I swore I was not going to start a topic but it seems like there is not much going on right now so, I thought, what the heck. I was just wondering how folks go about a project once you have decided to make something. Do most of you keep a stock of wood on hand or do you go out and buy for each project? I know those of you who do a lot of work on Baltic Birch keep a supple of that on hand but for those who are like me and do most of our work in hardwoods, do you keep a stock of it on hand or what? I don't have a lot of space so I'm limited to what I can keep. I'd really like to hear how others do it. I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a controversial subject. Let's just share our ideas.

Does it work as well as the blue tape. Removal and adhesive residue left behind. I'm interested to know because that blue stuff gets expensive.

I just sent off an email to Grobet USA and explained my situation. I can't produce any paperwork for my purchase but I know it was from D & D so now, I'll wait to see what they say. I did ask for the procedure to replace my blades. I only have about 11 dozen left.

To update, I emailed DnD and they affirmed that the notch was an attempt at something that didn't work out and there are no more "notched" blades. So, I guess we can all breathe easier and reorder as needed.

You can call Qtena here in So Cal and get some info. They are good to deal with. I bought my Pegas clamps from them. Great fast service. I called them once with a question and got a real, live person on the phone.

That's what I should do too. Bottom line is they are Pegas and they are defective. No matter who we bought from or when. I still have 11 dozen. Let me know how they respond to you. I bought mine from DnD.

I bought a gross of them about the same time as you. Mine have the notch but I haven't seen any with a snaffle tooth. I started breaking blades in my EX. So I just install the blade higher and put the notch right where the clamp screw is. No more breakage and there are still reverse teeth at the bottom. I can see that you might not be able to do that with the Hawk. I should have sent them back but procrastinated. I'll use them up.

I fell in love with the 53 Cad years ago. I found a beautiful one that had been "street-rodded" with all updated drivetrain and accessories but there was no way I could afford the price. So, your picture will have to suffice. Great job. Thanks for posting.

I totally understand. I live about an hour's drive on a good day so I just pay the shipping. I try to make my order big enough to warrant the $15 or so for UPS.

Thanks Bill and Jim. I think I'll just lay back and watch for a while. If something piques my interest, I'll add what I have to say but no more of starting a thread. It just doesn't pay. I get the feeling that I rub feathers in the wrong way. I seem to have my best discussions using the Private Message venue.

I had great service from them also. Premier job of packaging. I purchased a box of cutoffs from them and asked if it would be possible to include a list of what they were sending so I could i.d. each species. They went so far as to tag each board. Great company. I use them and Cherokee too. Great service there also.

Let me take this opportunity to apologize for starting this thread. It appears that it was a subject that was just too controversial. I will try to be more discerning from here on. Maybe the "coffee house" is a better spot to hang out.

Well said Paul. If a young had the money and the where withall, it would be wise to purchase the best of everything. But as you pointed out, it would nuts for us to buy the best just to leave it to our kids. But another thing is that you can never stay up with technology. Everything is pretty much obsolete when you buy it.

Nice setup. I bought/installed the Wen air cleaner in my tiny shop. It works great. But...I still wear my dust mask because when I'm cutting I'm right over the work and get a lot of fine dust right in my face. I also have a 20 inch box fan to the right of my saw that collects a lot of the dust that is blown off the work as it is being cut. All I have to do is look at how much dust still collects on the inside of my glasses to know what I would be breathing if not for the mask. My advice....wear your mask. You only get 1 set of lungs. Some of the woods we use are toxic.

Kevin, it sure seems strange to me that some folks seem to be adverse to saving money. I'm sure that there might be a tiny difference between the H/F paper and one of the high end brands but in the end, they do the same thing. I feel the same about the tools too. I'm sure if money was no object, then I guess I might be willing to spend more but for me, it's all about what gets the job done.

Well, I buy the paper from H/F also, so I don't know if it is the same as any other brand. It looks to be but without buying paper to find out, I can't say. And, once the dust catcher is removed, it looks like it would be an easy hook up. I didn't try it because I don't want a hose getting in the way. I like it just the way it is.

How did you know that you needed to have them replaced Les? My knees give me problems but I would surmise that they would have to be a lot worse before I'd need them done.

I was on FB a couple of weeks ago and this popup came up. An outfit by the name of Tophatter.com and they showed a pic of this for $6.47 including shipping. No tax. I had to wait the 2 weeks but it came yesterday. I figured I could wager that amount to see if it was any good. I'm very surprised at the quality. Another addition to my Dremel stuff.
