  1. Too soon to be able to answer your questions Christian. But, maybe someone else who has one can tell you. I just got mine and haven't used it enough to know so I will be interested in knowing too. Amazon has the best price on one.
  2. Well, after viewing this little video, I just went to Amazon and put that kit in my cart for the next time I have a few extra bucks. My wife let me order that air filter so now, it's her turn to buy something she wants. I think she is wanting to buy a large area rug for our bedroom so that is going to set me back a bit. Oh well, that's why they call it a partnership.
  3. Well, I sure have all of you fooled then! Ha! Just kidding. I'm not a bad person. But, I do let my politics overwhelm me occasionally.
  4. I was just notified that I earned a Heart. I don't know what that means but it must be something good. And, I hit 1000 on something else too.
  5. Well, from what I can see here in your pic, it looks like a "professional" fix. Way to save your work and not consign it to the firebox.
  6. It is a wonderful hobby and I too am so happy I found this forum. The folks here are so welcoming and try so hard to help no matter what the problem or how basic the problem may be because they have all been there. Congrats in advance of your new saw. I hope you and your hubby take the time to research before buying. There are really only about 5-6 saws here in the U.S. worth buying if you are really serious. Way too many "hobby, imported" saws on the cheap.
  7. Thanks Kevin, that will make things easier. And, of course, the talent here is lacking in any kind of imagination. I can copy anything but I don't have an original idea in my head.
  8. This is the place I bought mine. http://www.modularhose.com.
  9. Great idea Kevin. I have been toying with the idea of pyrography but when I started looking at what they cost to get a decent burner and all the different tips, I sort of lost interest. I would still like to be able to "dress up" my projects when called for. I may have to sit back and see what all gets written about the subject here on SSV.
  10. Thanks, excellent idea. I have both a disk and oscillating spindle sander. I will make one for sure.
  11. Well Brad, you said it. A picture of some kind might help us to come up with some ideas. A sketch would be great. I take it that you want a desk of some sort in your easy chair to write on and also to hold your computer? On a different subject, if you are looking for hobbies or something to stretch your brain, I might suggest learning to woodcarve. I got into that while we were out on the road and I needed a hobby that didn't take up any room and didn't add any weight to the fifth wheel. Also, I have gotten interested in micro-electronics. Do a google search on "arduino". It's really interesting and if you have any electrical knowledge at all, it's something that you can build on and learn how to do some programming at the same time. Not too much of an investment either. I have read a ton and watched a lot of videos on the subject. Also, do a search on "instructables". There are tons of things on there that you can make and do. The key here is to keep your brain working and learning. I'm 75 and I know that there is still a whole world of stuff for me to learn. The trick then becomes how to merge all the hobbies into one. I'm working on that.
  12. Les, I bought a roll of that stuff too and I liked it until I tried the full page shipping labels. So far, they are my favorite.
  13. Once I get all my equipment into the places that they will remain, I will get serious about where to put the air filter. I figure that even up there in the corner it's still going to be a lot better than not at all. I can already tell the difference. That little drill press is a Delta 8" that I bought in like new condition on Ebay for $45. It's got it's "shortcomings" but it will have to do until something better comes along. I don't want to give up any more space than what it takes up now.
  14. I sure do envy you all that space. Nice job on the dust control systems.
  15. Here's a couple of pics that I hope will show why I can't hang it out in the middle of the room. I'm going to move it but so far, I don't know where I want it or can put it. I'll figure it out.
  16. And here I thought I had been everywhere. I guess we better hook up and hit the road again. I WISH!
  17. I have got to have a friend in "Monkey's Eyebrow" Ky. Never have before.
  18. Brad, please don't apologize for going on at length. Sometimes a person just needs to talk to somebody. We are here for you. I think that is what makes this place what it is. A bunch of folks who may not know each other personally but are here for each other when needed. I know that I have had that feeling from the beginning and I'll bet the others pretty much feel the same way. We are all pulling for you to feel GOOD again. Hang in there, follow the doctor's orders and keep on scrolling.
  19. I wish I had a ceiling like you do. I'll have to post a couple of pics so you can see what I'm dealing with.
  20. Stoney, I agree with what you say but the problem I have is the ceiling of my shop is actually a part of the awning system on my mobile home. I have added shelves so that my wife can store her seasonal stuff. The shelves are high enough to do that but they are also low enough that they have become a hindrance. I may figure out another way in the future but for now, this will have to suffice. I probably will bring it closer to my main saw and if I decided to sell the Dewalt, I'll relocate the EX and then hang the air filter in a different place. Thanks for your input.
  21. I left some on for a couple of months. Maybe longer. I just heated with a heat gun and it came right off.
  22. I was just thinking about making a circle cutting jig for the scroll saw. I have one for my bandsaw but it's too big and cumbersome for the size I need. I have found that it is VERY difficult to cut a full circle by hand. I get some very strange circles.
  23. I don't think there is anything worse than a bad back. It can totally immobilize you and what kind of life is that?
  24. I like the idea of being able to differentiate between the black blade and the red line. It's easier on MY eyes. Everybody is different though.
  25. I hope you get feeling better Brad. Stay active if you can.
